April Trip Suggestion - BA or SP
Riobard replied to Anthonyvan's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
He and I are in the largest northern state that includes the Arctic but is not Alaska. LOL 22:00 is 03:00 ... daylight savings in Brazil was discontinued this year. But the biorhythm suggestion is good. In April the difference is down to 4 hours. -

The full-on sunrise photo opps in Flamengo stretch are not too shabby either ... -

Access A at Gloria Station to be on the side you want to walk a few steps north up to Candido Mendes and turn left (west) to get to 117. You will see the Outeiro (Hill) exit, not the option you want. -

Metro subway and Über on par re: language, on balance. For Metro if you are 65+, two phrases are helpful as you show the attendant your original photo ID in order to ride for free: Eu nasci no ano dezenove e cinquenta e cinco (or specify other earlier year); Eu tenho sessenta e cinco anos (or specify an older age). The first phrase guides their eye to my year of birth on my ID card because they are sometimes puzzled by it; the 2nd phrase to simply assert my age qualification. Works every time. You can write it on a cue card or post-it fixed to your ID. I use a plastic original Quebec government ID card and I leave my passport at accommodations but carry a xerox copy (that the Metro generally won’t accept). You may occasionally face the challenge of an Über driver texting you, where you have to copy and translate with a language app in one direction plus translate and copy/paste back. If the driver phones you: Texto por favor, eu sou inglês. -

I think because opportunistic career felons do not have as long a shelf life in a more condensed area such as Gloria, where they would be quickly labelled and ousted, that might make a difference. ———— Does anyone know if Patrick J still works at 117? I reiterate that he is a good go-to resource for visitors needing fluent English for more complex reasons ... Tom? Rob? -

Gloria is as safe as Copacabana. I prefer it especially for longer stays. It is more condensed and easier to become familiar with locals and vendors, greeting each other in passing. IMO one is more likely to strike up a conversation with a sociable resident in an eatery (many locals are “well-heeled” and bilingual if English is important to you) than with a tourist. Most locals dining at Gregora Arte Café directly across from 117 speak English. The residential buildings date mostly late 1960s and many apartments are inhabited by folks who can afford a 1+ million reais pad. I am not a sun-worshipper but I love early morning and early evening brisk walks along Praia Flamengo, many locals there getting exercise at those times. For me, the main draw for subwaying to Copacabana is Fisherman’s walk at Leme end (n/e) early morning, or the Fort (s/w) for lunch or high tea. -

Access B is closer to Marriott, for what it’s worth. In fact, you can get full details for any station. -
Brazilian men and their appearance/body/upkeep?

Shades of ‘Adonis Complex’ -
He or his images also “Santiago” in São Paulo on garotocomlocal.

I don’t know him but have to comment that I like the cute photo of a few years ago ... possibly an illusion shot, kissing a parrot.
-
Plenty of options, with a very uniquely substantial proportional population share age 18-39 ...

I think one of the admin stakeholders is also a medical doctor, as is Rodolfo, pointed earlier by posts about Lagoa. -
Brazil is Catholic where life commences at conception (May 2002), but I would not push such a convoluted argument.

OK, age of consent in my nation is 16, but the law applies both locally and internationally in terms of interaction considered exploitive (younger than 18) ... prostitution transaction, use of images, older party in position of authority, etc. However, a Brazilian of any adult age appears to have more latitude with a sexual partner 14 and older. Perhaps this yields more general precociousness and young people are not aware of imperilling adult tourists (that should know better anyway). 18 it is, then, without undo delay.
-
I am happy to admit being wrong, but the age of consent is 14, and at age 14 any age-gap exemptions are no longer in place or relevant legally. HOWEVER, “seduction”, images considered remotely pornographic, and enabling prostitution of a person under 18, are explicitly prosecutable. It would be prudent to wait to 18 and verify age. I am not American and will have to see what my nation’s requirements abroad are. I have never checked because children are of no interest to me.

I am going to use Über even for short distances of a few blocks, as recommended, the fare estimates generally the minimum rate 7BRL.

The legal minimum wage in Colombia, Brazil, and Thailand is considerably higher compared to Russia. Russia is Europe but not all European nations reflect that aspect of the argument that categorically scoops European and American advantages together. To be fair, a Big Mac in Russia costs considerably less, so overall COL relative to wages may be more equalized. The Russian likely stands to benefit as much as a Latin American or Asian national by eschewing “conventional” employment in favour of prostitution. By extension, his economic reality is no less exploitable simply because his melanin composition is different.

... and for good reason. ———— On another note, is it just me or can shin pics be tricky?

April Trip Suggestion - BA or SP
Riobard replied to Anthonyvan's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
The Air Canada fare is $325 cheaper to São Paulo return, but I suggest avoiding multi-city (in one, out the other) as it almost doubles the YYZ-GRU price, assuming most travellers are somewhat considering budget. If you do both cities, a short haul flight SP to BA return makes up the long haul fare difference between YYZ-GRU and YYZ-EZE and allows some flexibility for a SP-BA or other SP-? side trip. I would suggest Iguassu Falls (2 nights) to break up a São Paulo trip, if Buenos Aires ends up ruled out, to get a break from the ‘concrete jungle’ urban sprawl. -

He is also “Moreno Discreto” at Vivalocal, 250BRL/hr -
Those of us who know muscle stud “Sylvia” have noticed his entrepreneurial branching out on the ad sites along with a few other big guys expanding their services.
