  1. They still visit their relatives and conduct the powdering and water sprinkling rituals. The water splashing is an expansion of the old rituals and has been around for the last forty years at least and the water guns and massive partying and boozing perhaps the last twenty-five or so. I was just reading about it recently. Let me see if I can find the article. Here's a bit of Songkran trivia: the month of April traditionally sees the highest number of unwanted pregnancies in Thailand as a result of the rampant boozing, partying and unprotected casual sex.
  2. "Getting"? What do you mean? 🤔
  3. Rosehip seed oil might help with the "scarring".
  4. As I understand it, Songkran in Pattaya doesn't really get going until the 17th or 18th and it's over in other cities by the 15th so Pattaya residents and residents of the other cities can easily do a swap and escape Songkran altogether.
  5. The only rough or contact sport you will get in Patpong and Pattaya will be the bitch-slaps and handbag-slinging from the old queens. Or catfights in the forum as you can see. Nevertheless, good luck!
  6. This thread has sadly reminded me of the parable of The Old Man and His Donkey which is perhaps ominous of how things are going to turn out. So many points of view, so many chiming in to give advice when the relationship technically hasn't even started beyond several days of hook ups. Has there even been a meeting of the minds between the parties, let alone a meeting of the hearts? From the reports that I've read, it seems to me that everything has been glaringly one-sided... ....I don't know but I feel that relationships aren't supposed to be this complicated, more so one that has barely even begun.
  7. As much as I like @jimmie50's persona as represented by his posts on this forum, I also respect the fact that he is making his own bed and he therefore shall lie in it.
  8. "Nearly all Cambodian money boys entered on legal visas..."? How do you know? Because the mama-san told you? 🙄 "I had a Cambodian boy for some time and witnessed his multiple visa runs." Okay, this is fair. "He returned home before the border tensions but his cousin and roommates are all currently overstaying and continuing to work in bars." They aren't forbidden from going home even while the tensions are going on. Oh my...but I agree. You should pause, take a deep breath and listen to what you're saying.
  9. Good point. Not only did he know that that someone was an illegal alien but he had taken active steps to provide the illegal alien with a safehouse so as to prevent him from getting arrested. In some jurisdictions that would be called abetment. Not sure how the Thai authorities would view it but I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult for them to come up with a suitable framing of the issue to extract as much money from the farang as possible. See previous paragraph. You very well know that they are not "overstayers" but undocumented illegal migrants who are working and staying illegally in Thailand. A person who overstays is someone who has entered Thailand legally and exceeded his permission to stay or visa without a lawful extension. Sure, I'd have no problem with this. But surely the better argument is to advocate for the vast commercial sex industry to be legalised in order to protect those in it as well as those who consume it from exploitation. And if I wanted to be really pedantic about it, I'd say, "Harbouring or hiring illegal aliens is wrong. Prostitution is also legally wrong. But two wrongs don't make a right." Well it ceases to become a joke when they lose their jobs. Recently a massage parlour in Jomtien Complex was raided and the French owner was fined 35,000 THB for each of the his seven illegal Cambodian staff. I believe @jimmie50 witnessed this. The French owner then decided not to hire anymore illegal foreign staff after the hefty 245,000 THB fine. Now he doesn't have enough workers and the workers he fired are in limbo with no jobs.
  10. This is misleading, dangerous and irresponsible. Foreigners who think they can "merrily" break Thai law and "fix it" with "some coffee money" are in for a rude shock. On the other hand, a stay at the Bangkok Hilton might do them some good and give them plenty of time for reflection - if they survive.
  11. Please delete.
  12. They had apps before 2006? What were they?
  13. First and only post, made on April 1st. 🤔😁
  14. Yes but shouldn't be a problem if they're staying in a house or apartment under @jimmie50's name. If caught, however, @jimmie50 could be charged for harbouring an illegal alien. The Thai authorities would probably want to milk the cash cow too and think, "Hey, if the Khamayn (a somewhat derogatory Thai term for Khmers) could do it, so can we!" Moreover, the police stop and conduct spot checks on inter-provincial buses all the time to look for criminals, illegal aliens, southern insurgents, etc. Now Cambodians are the "flavour of the month" and very much on the police radar. I believe @jimmie50 had witnessed this himself during his recent visit to Pattaya. Perhaps he's caught up in the Easter spirit and it will pass? 🤔🤷
  15. Hi @jimmie50. You were doing well here and then you went back to your old habits in your ensuing paragraphs and posts. I've got nothing more to say to you about this and only wish you the best of luck. As I said earlier in this thread, when it comes to these kinds of relationships, people will do what they want to do and they will simply have to learn the lessons that they have to learn. @Travelingguy is right; I put in my two satang only because I think you're a decent guy and was concerned about where you were going with this. PS Please, you don't owe me any further explanation; just take care of yourself and, again, good luck! ✌️🫶
  16. Olddaddy is going to love you. 😍🥰
  17. Yes, it does. Forum numbers do meet up and some of the Pattaya residents would be happy to show you around if need be. They'll either contact you here or message you privately.
  18. I don't mind carrying a card as long as it's one card for all the public transportation networks. Thanks for the update @Patanawet.🤞
  19. He is worried about getting caught by the authorities for being an illegal alien yet he chooses to stay in Silom where it's the first place the authorities will look for illegal aliens? And he thinks paying the bar a 78-day off fee is a feasible idea? Hmmm...I think he and the mamasan may have struck a deal... By your own admission you seem to know very little about Thailand and even less the snake pit of Patpong which is an aberration to the norm. You've spent most of your time in Thailand in the fleshpots of Bangkok and, other than the lovely Thai family who seem to really care for you, don't seem to have any other Thai friends. Take a long, deep breath and a few steps back - regain some perspective: you're a clueless foreigner living thousands of miles away wrecking your brains thinking of ways to support an illegal alien sex worker thousands of miles away whom you've only known cumulatively for how many days? Someone who's more familiar with the territory than you'll ever be and is playing on his home turf so to speak. When their story has too many loose ends and parts that do not make sense, requiring you to defy common sense and make rationalisations to convince yourself that it's true, I feel that it's best to step back, at least for the time being. Wasn't he doing okay before you arrived on the scene? Well, he'll be okay long after you're gone.
  20. They never do; the canny ones make it seem like it's your idea.
  21. Just as well. Video calls can be tricky if they're in the middle of a...errr...trick. 😒
  22. Bumps or bums? 😉
  23. There was this big boy who entered a playground and started picking on a smaller guy, insisting that he hand over his collection of toy guns. He broke the boy’s left arm and declared victory. But the boy hit him with his right arm. He broke the right arm but the boy started using his legs. Worse, he started to kick out at the big boy’s friends, landing a few blows here and there which left them bruised. The whole playground of kids crowded in for a look. The big boy kept spluttering: “I won! I won!’’. But the little one was still breathing and spitting back. Big boy told his friends to “help, help’’ and called them cowards. But they didn’t seem keen on joining the melee. It wasn’t their fight, they said. They were more concerned about the little guy keeping the key to the pantry where their lunch packets were kept. “Open it up! Open it up! We’re starving!’’ they told the little guy who merely grinned at them. The big boy, who was losing face minute by minute, said he would get his extended family to the playground to do more whacking - or maybe not. That he would go home since he already won - with or without the toy collection. Or maybe not. Threatening to unleash hell on earth, he rained curses on the little guy, invoking God’s name: “Good God! What the hell do you think you’re doing! I will obliterate and annihilate you!’’ This was Friday. On the third day, the little guy got up. Wishing all friends and forum members who celebrate a happy Easter. 🫶
  24. Not a prude at all and your posts suggest a very youthful spirit. See, your feelings about this and what you want are becoming clearer and more focussed. The above is what feels right for you. For what it's worth, I wouldn't want a boyfriend (or godson) who's turning tricks on the side either.
