An Australian boomer retired in Thailand on an $18,000 annual pension
Olddaddy replied to a topic in The Beer Bar
They must do ,go to any of these big Social Clubs during the day the majority of people playing poker/slot machines are old age pensioners I guess you really need to own your own home or live in Government provided housing to survive . It's $1700 a fortnight for a couple though that's a lot , I bet someone working at McDonald's doesn't get that after paying tax So if you move to Thailand with your partner that's big money -
I say it's the balcony

Services Australia website or the old Department of Social Security as they were known. so Single person rate for old age pension is $1116 AUD or $2232 a month = , 51,653 baht So if you can live on that in Australia you can live in it in Thailand I guess , 51,653 baht -

Nothing wrong with being a lawyer 😉 I do try to keep away from them though Just to get a pre nup agreement with my partner cost $2000 AUD and that was cheap apparently In Australia everyone (within asset test limit ) gets an old age pension at 67 regardless if you never worked in your life To get the old age pension sent overseas you must be a resident IN Australia the 2 years before applying which means😯many at 65yo living in Thailand have to go back to live to apply at 67 -

Your still working? Your going to 70?😮and there's nothing wrong with that,I'm still working too ,but my job is more part time and easy I couldn't imagine putting snow chains on trucks at over 60 Physical work gets hard over 60 I work mostly because I want to travel every 3 months , but soon I will give it away because life is not meant to be working -
And apparently Captain Cook too

Walking is not a problem to a certain degree but I'm a big guy and lazy ,I'm very fit although big belly I'm also very lazy , especially in heat and I mean the weather heat 😂 , I am a powerlifter in competition ,although cardio is much different from strength training But .....I don't like trying to cross traffic and last time I got a Grab motorcycle it took ages for him in traffic all the way to the bars

If pensioners can survive in Australia on that then he can in Asia -
I must admit ,whether that means I'm weak , is that my last long trip to Thailand I became "lonely" This time my Filipino partner will arrive with me for a week during my 3 weeks I did at times substitute the word "boredom" for lonilessness Your thinking shock 😲 horror how does one become lonely on a trip to Thailand with all those boys ? Long trips or trips where I stay the same room, my weakness seems to be gloomy thoughts or boredom Hard to explain But this trip 3 weeks duration my Filipino friend will come along I will write more into later ,at the moment I'm heading to the gym before I think of an excuse not to go ☺️
