Merry Christmas!
Not sure if any of you have any Christmas day traditions, but after my hotel Christmas day feast, I'll be putting my feet up and watching that classic Christmas movie from Nakatomi Plaza. Ho Ho Ho.

Jomtien for a Gay Couple?
Yes you can, maybe you've got an older version of the App. Goto to "Chat with driver" option, and you've got the ability to take and send a photo. Press the camera icon to the left of the message box.

Christmas/New Year Meet Up
I've had the Management update the count! Bunting, foam, champagne on tap (gold obviously), floor shows, karaoke station, Madagascar Boy Pipers etc, all on the committee's agenda.

Agree, it's also about relationships. Arrived dishevelled last Wednesday having survived the Pattaya bus, and a 1 hour 45 minute Bolt taxi from Ekkamai, walking up to reception, and was greeted as if Pierce Brosnan in Die Another Day arriving at the Rubyeon Royale Hotel in Hong Kong, until the manager saw me, "Open the Presidential Suite".

Would disagree, been using it for the last 2 years, always book a King Deluxe and get upgraded to a King Deluxe Suite. The hotel was formerly a NovaTel, which the local Hilton Franchisee took over and carried out some basic re-branding on the outside as well as the reception area. Starting March / April next year they will be carrying out further refurbishment so expect prices to rise. Did notice last week the bathroom floor mat still had a large "N" on it. While not in Silom, the new Hilton Metropolis Suites just off Sukhumvit Soi 39 also is even better value for money. Again an ex NovaTel bought by the same Franchisee. Admittedly no Exec lounge, resturant or bar, but no issues bringing fellow philatelists to admire your collection in your spacious studio or 1 bedroom apartment! For absolute value for money, then the Garden Inn down in Rayong. Was paying 1200THB a night and getting upgraded to a suite. Night life was a bit thin on the ground, but a cheap way to build your points.

@AdamSmith, Gents from January 1966, can confirm your brain farts are true:- (I do have the complete copy of Edition #100, however it's a .pdf, which isn't unloadable onto this site, hence having to screen print the 4 pages of the poem).- Accomodation in Bangok when staying in Thailand for 2 months
Technically, The Hotel Act statement should be updated to reference the 2023 update.- A petty hint about passports
While true, they are not the most robust devices in our personal procession. Drop your wallet onto the pavement, contents of cards, notes & coins are survivable. Drop your phone, then success varies. Generally speaking, 70% of users use a screen protector, either at source or manual add-on, also 60% use a fold-over case, which will provide more impact resistance. Did field test a number of UK MoD approved phone cases a number of years ago, all past the traditional laboratory tests, however if chucked into a Bergen with a loose Chilly bottle (popular UK brand of stainless-steel water bottle), and subjected to a 15 mile hike, the constant bashing of the screen resulted in a 50% failure rate. The mini laminates are definitely the best option.- Are you a wanker?

The 30 day rule is linked to the Hotels Act, i.e. any stay less than 30 days should be a 'Hotel', as opposed to renting a condo or house. Key reason behind this is recording where visitors are staying. Whenever you check into a hotel they copy your Passport to submit a TM30 application to the Immigration Police. Technically a landlord can register their property (condo or house) under the Hotel Act, and therefore be compliant with the Immigration Act. Most AirBnB operators don't, hence the impression "AirBnB is illegal in Thailand". As your initial accommodation is a hotel, you'll be initially registered on the Immigration database. If you want piece of mind, ask your potential Landlord "You will be providing me with a valid TM30 within 24 hours of arrival?", and see how they respond. As a suggestion, download the MisterB&B app, as prices can be more favorable then AirBnB. This includes Hotel type rentals as well. Best of luck.- Are you a wanker?

Visited PP and the new bar, Jungle Boy, on Monday, which is between Candy Bar and the alley way down to Zing Resort. Both are Thai owned and managed. PP as at 23:00 is 80% full, and best described as a Karaoke bar, stage is over in the far left of the bar, so sitting down at street level on the right isn't deafening or less cringeworthy if the budding vocalist is say, vocally challenged. Jungle Boy is a pool table on the inside, and low volume music, so holding a conversation isn't a strain. Seats at street level, so ideal for people watching. Thai Whisky (Blend 285) at 119THB, Gordon's 139THB, Thai Whiskey and Coke at 150THB, Thai Soda Water 79TGB, Chang Beer 150THB. And a handful of boys to sit with you, else they're playing pool. Manager called Charlie at Jungle Boy. Inside tables, formica topped plywood on beer crates. Good atmosphere and 90% full at 23:30.- Christmas/New Year Meet Up
