And, just because a hotel is a brand name, it doesn't mean it is a corporate hotel and thus, the upgrades for Priority members vary from one hotel to the next. Franchise hotels are not as good about giving upgrades as the ones owned by the company. At least that is true in my experiences.

Hello Sir. I am glad you finally gave them a shot. I have been preaching the greatness of Hero for a long time and I think it often falls on deaf ears. I love Hero. I think the price is reasonable and the guys are amazing! When in Bangkok, this is always my first stop each day! If I then go to Soi Twilight and don't find someone, I know I will have had a great time at Hero.

For those that lived in the South 20 years ago, that is the pace of most cities and if you travel up country, it is even slower. Personally, I love the taxi's going fast there. I was in one last week going from Bangkok to Pattaya and it took one hour and 10 minutes. I looked up at one point and the driver was going 160KPH. I closed my eyes, prayed and went to sleep.

I have been told that Brasilia is only good M-F and dies on the weekends. What is your take on this? I went to Brasilia only one time many years ago and I want to go back again to enjoy the city more. I am hoping to make it back in the USA for the Palm Spring weekend. That was the reason I booked the ticket this week. I still have my apartment for another month but I did tell the landlord I was leaving early. Right now, it is wait and see. And, you are right, I am LUCKY to be in Thailand for the wait.

I had my reservation to return to USA from Thailand on Sunday but the flight status on the airlines is a major mess. They wanted to route me though China and economy class for 35 hours. I said no. So, I am stuck in Thailand for a bit. It is a great place to be stranded. Before you travel to Asia, be sure you have a close to direct flight to the place you are traveling. It will make life easier.

For USA, that is correct. They send your details in a diplomatic bag and returned the same way. Very fast. Even faster than getting it in the USA unless you do the quicker service with an extra fee.

It was really very simple to do as mine expired. I had only 6 months left and I have to make some trips to South America soon so I went to the Embassy in Bangkok to renew the passport. First, if you book online and show up at the appointed time there is no wait. They take your paperwork, make sure all if filled out correctly and send you to the cashier. Once finished, you take the receipt over to the window and they take the information. They tell you to have a seat. In less than 5 minutes, I was called over to the window and said I would get an e-mail when the new passport was ready in 2 weeks or so. Seven business days after, they sent an e-mail. I showed up and they took my old passport and changed it for a new one. The gave me the old passport back with holes in it as well as a letter to go to the immigration in Thailand to have the Visa moved over. The pick up was less than 10 minutes. There are certain posted hours for the service and if you show up on time, it is very fast and painless. I went to Pattaya Immigration and was told I did not need to have my visa moved as it was a tourist visa and not a multiple entry. Does anyone know if this is correct? The cost was a bit over 100US for the renewal. They are also now charging for added pages and you are only allowed 3 additions to your passport. There were several I met who were very upset at this as they still have years remaining on the passport but they have had 3 additions and they are not allowed to add more. The officers did tell them they can get a temporary passport but not more pages.

Well, our 2 hour game may not have been the longest but it was fun. We were playing strip Uno and the losers had to take off one item. I thought I'd see naked guys in 20 minutes. The game went over and the first game lasted well over 2 hours. Needless to say, my Viagra was worn off by then. NEVER again!
