  1. Monday I took a friend to meet with his lawyer and a government official. Of course the meeting was confidential but there was one thing I heard that made me believe many more guys may be sitting on the wrong side of the jail house door. This local government official had a stack of arrest warrants for people that have been accused of sex with a minor. I am amazed that all it takes is one underage Thai to file a report with little or no evidence and the police can get an arrest warrant. I can give you an example. The warrant said it was for an "old, fat and bald westerner" "who took (Thai name) to his room for sex." No name, no picture, just a boy's statement. Now, I can't read Thai so I am relying on the Thai lawyer here. Evidence seems not to be as necessary as the money needed to "pay for a crime."
  2. Nice pictures but are they offable? One of the really nice things about living in Thailand is that I no longer have to just fantasize. I can go and actually be with the dream of my life, (day, Hour, minute, whatever)
  3. It is probably best to forget my paranoia and depend on your (GB) instincts and skills. You have been doing this a long time GB and I usually think things are best left to the experts.
  4. In Los Angeles, CA where I lived, you were asked to put any bulky item on the curb and call a special pick up number and the city would send a truck to pick it up. However as others have said, before the city trucks got there, the item was gone. When I was moving here, I had a shipping company bring a container to my property. I hired some movers to pack and take the boxes and furniture to the curb while we waited for the container truck. As we were going back and forth. A van pulled up and started to put some items in their van. Thankfully one of the movers (who spoke Spanish) was taking more stuff to the curb and told the gut in the van that we were waiting for a moving container. The van driver apologized and even helped us load the container truck when it arrived. I gave the guy a $20 tip and he was happy.
  5. This is possibly a silly question but I will ask anyway. How will you know if a poster is using more than one board name? A poster doing so would be able to have not just 1 ticket put into the hat a day but if the same person is posting 3 a day under 2 handles that person would have 2 tickets put in each day. I am in this for the fun of it and I have enjoyed the posting, but thought I would ask as I thought I saw a pattern of a poster posting and another poster always following.
  6. I tried to sign up for the phone but since they needed a credit card from a Thai bank, which I don't have. I passed. I have a few friends that have the iPhone that was unlocked in Thailand. They love the features but I imagine they do not get the 3G service. I wonder if the other connection providers will have 3G service soon? I think True is the only one right now
  7. One of the things I appreciate about Pattaya is that there are many like thinking guys that are my age to talk and socialize with. I also like the smallness of the city compared to Bangkok and the fact that there are still many western products here
  8. One of the things that is still an unbelievable bargain is the cost of rubbish service here in Pattaya. The lady just came to collect the yearly fee. The truck comes to our house 3 times a week (around midnight). The workers never leave a mess. They do the job and place our trash bins back where they belong each time. The total cost for this service is just 480 baht........a YEAR!
  9. I had a good friend tell me he was at Question Mark in Jomtien Saturday night. He said there was a drunk farang arguing with his BF. The argurment got heated and the Farang back handed the Thai BF. The Thai immediately pulled out a knife to slash the farang but one of the waiters caught the Thais arm before the knife hit the farangs throat. Both were asked to leave. Losing your temper and hitting a Thai does not make sense. It is very embarrassing and not a good idea.
  10. Thanks for the suggestion. There seem to be several good restaurants opening. I will add this to the growing list. I think I have walked by it and wondered why such a nice looking restaurant was opening there. Was it very crowded when you have been there?
  11. That fee I imagine is for the entire group to share and still may be a bit exaggerated by Khun/Kha Future. This is not a guess on my part as I know several that entertain there very well. When most go off, the fee is the same as go-go, but they are very happy to accept more!
  12. I was not asking for any exceptions for me. I was just wondering about it and everything is well clarified. By the way have you heard the one about the guy from south Florida? He............................ You will have to check the beer bar forum for the rest. But it really is a gem..............
  13. Thanks for this update GB. With 44 days remaining I encourage others to join in and reach the 150 posts. I am wondering if there will be a public drawing with a little party attached. It might be fun. You might have already announced it, but I did not want to look through the other 65 posts to see.
  14. I am not sure if you are talking about the waiters, entertainers or the customers. The waiters are your best source of advice. They can tell you what you would like to know. They also (for a 20 baht tip) are not bashful about introducing you to a customer, or letting a customer know you would like to talk to them if you are a bit shy. Just remember that when you take a customer off from a bar like Dudes, you will not have the protection of the bar having a copy of the ID so if something of bad fortune happens you probably will need to sort it out yourself.
  15. There must be a market for it. And as slackerman keeps saying on the very long "who to report to thread". It should be left up to the business owner and something about letting the market decide. I think this kind of thinking is a bit of a slippery slope (economic crisis). As when some business are left unregulated, things do usually get out of control.
  16. I use the direct debt to pay electric and water. Even though I thought it was automatic, one time I had the electric cut off even though the payment had been drawn against my account. The reason given by the bank was that someone made a mistake and typed in the wrong bill number. It was solved but I was not so happy. Billing is a problem it seems. We (my Thai friend) do a good job of keeping all payment receipts. We have had to show a paid receipt on a couple of occasions to prove something was paid.
  17. Thank you all for the explanations. I never did know about using the assistant. Now that I know that you can see all new posts (I imagine that means unread by me), I will try it. As far as grouping posts, I understood that. I did not make it clear, but I was taking about moving a post. I usually only read the Gay Thailand forum. If I for instance wanted to try and make a humorous post that did not really have anything to do with Gay Thailand I might want to post it on the Gay Thailand forum so it would be read by more people. I am not asking for any change just clarifying what I meant. However, now that I know about the "my assistant" I will try that.
  18. I have never really understood the reason these small message boards use different forums. I am not complaining at all but if someone can give a good explanation as to why and also should it continue that way. I am not trying to cause a revolution....
  19. At the bar I described, I bet my friends that they were all over 18. I called one guy from the stage that looked maybe at best he was 14. I asked him how old he was. 19 he said. I gave him a 20 baht and as he returned to the stage I put out my hand to collect my bet from my 2 friends. Well my 2 friends protested........... If you can't believe the boys who can you believe...
  20. It is not just one way streets. Driving down Third Road and South Pattaya on my motorbike, I have to dodge other motorbikes driving in the wrong direction.
  21. The people to tell in Pattaya is the Health Office on Soi Buakao. They will report it to whoever is suppose to report it too. Thailand has a legal system that is very different than what many western countries have I believe. Here in Thailand almost all complaints some how seem to go to the police. An example: 2 Thais were splitting up. They could not agree who would get what property, so they both went to the police for help in solving the problem which the police did. In the US you would never think of calling the police to settle that. We have a court system that would take up this problem. Here the police seem to have more power in many matters
  22. Today as we were driving back from Bangkok from Bumrungrad hospital I saw what I say is "I can't believe it." We were on a Bangkok expressway that divides so 2 lanes go off to the left, 4 lanes continue straight ahead. We were going to the left and traffic for those lanes were at a standstill. So we waited in one of the lanes that go left for the road to open. Soon cars were passing us and started to make another lane to turn left in one of the lanes that were to go straight, not go left. Soon a 4th lane and then a 5 lane were made to go left until all the lanes that were to go straight were blocked by traffic that was to go straight. So now no one is going to go anywhere. If those that wanted to turn left would have just got into lines that were to go left, we would have had a back up but the 4 lanes that were to go straight would have been fine. Nope, the rules of the road in Bangkok.................
  23. I believe that Big-C has good buys and specials on toiletries, and toilet paper and paper towels, etc. They also have many specials on these kind of items in bulk. If you compare Tops at Tuk Com (same area as Friendship), to Friendship I think the vegetables are better at Tops. The meat and frozen food is better at Friendship I believe. Tops has good meat too, but Friendship is my preference. Now that just compares those 2. The list of other things like salmon is good at Carrefour. Pork and Beef is really good at Best. Villa has many great products but they come at a price. If you are ever around Sunee Plaza stop in and talk to Eric at Up2U. He is very knowledgeable about where to find some of the best at good prices.
  24. 2 friends and I went to some of the gogo bars in Sunee. We had a good time but did notice that the gogo bar next to Corner Bar has many entertainers and a lot of energy but also seem to be a bit young. Interestingly, this seems to be one of the bars that allow smoking but there were no customers smoking. The only one's smoking were a few of the young boys. I did ask the mamasam to have them stop or go upstairs or outside. He did take care of it but I understand that it will probably not be permanent.
  25. Yes. I go to the Continential on Soi Buakao. Yes GB. Monkee See is correct. But today I learned that the date I posted may be wrong as the waiters I wrote of need to work until the end of this month to get their salary.
