    HOT NEWS

Surely that should be "the publication for which I write"? Still it gives us an idea of the quality of the publication! Do you really think that your funds and time are best employed archiving your material?! Strange though that you didn't archive the reasons for being banned. I think that it had something to do with threats you made against other posters. I believe that there are special nutrients that can be helpful in countering short term memory loss, but they may not work in cases of selective memory loss.

Who is getting confused now??!! Just why were you banned from the Baht Stop forum? Strange that you and Earwig(subsequently reinstated) have that in common.

    HOT NEWS

"One would take notice" But neither Bob nor I mentioned you dear, and you referred to both our posts! Funny you should assume that we we were referring to you. However if you feel the cap fits..............
  5. I understand that lawyers and estate agents have long persuaded farang potential purchasers of property, that it is safe to do so under the guise of a limited company, in cases where they are unable to buy outright in their own name. This would certainly be the case in purchasing freehold houses, or condos where the 49% quota for foreign ownership has already been taken up, or in buying apartments that are not officially designated as condos. However it seems that there has been a sea change, this year, in the governments approach to these limited companies, that have been set up specifically to circumvent the law on foreign property ownership. It appears that there is an intention to investigate companies, that are not otherwise trading, eg having more than four paid employees, to examine whether they are in fact bona fide companies. One of the giveaways of front companies is having the same lawyers

    HOT NEWS

Couldn't have put it better Bob! Unfortunately it also seems to be the same two or three posters, who drag their egos over every thread, until the topic and the sense are obscured.
  7. Airport Tax Up "Again"? When was the last time that it was increased. Seems to me that it must have been over twenty years ago. Nothing in the article referred to justifies the "again". Perhaps the again refers to the recycling of news, as GB reported this back in September, but no harm to be reminded of it, as part of a positive post. As to the News Year bombings, they seemed to have caused little disruption in Bangkok, most major cities around the world have had them. As to the Raids, the only ones recently reported have been against Sunneee Bars, checking for underage prostitutes, something we all agree is a good thing, I'm sure. I don't think the the Coup has affected anyone here's day to day existence, just politics and jockeying for power. As for the early closing, I doubt that there is a city in Thailand where you can't find at least one venue to party till dawn.
  8. "5 star" is a worldwide recognized standard in hotels, that everyone understands. To pretend otherwise is crass. Glad to see that Mary has a little lamb now.
  9. Poseidon is NOT a five star hotel. It does not have the facilities that would make such a rating possible, least of all, as acknowledged, it does not have a swimming pool. It is a nice upmarket guesthouse. It is the only hotel in Pattaya in which I have stayed, on my last visit in the last few years, so I cannot comment on the others. Can't we just stick to a accuracy, without all this exaggeration?
  10. Surprisingly, perhaps to both of us, I agree completely with your comments on how Earwig could be an asset if........................but it's a big ask.

    About Face

CNN reports that the Thai Government has announced a reversal of the new policy after major losses on the Thai Stock Market, saying that overseas investors in Thailand will not be penalised.

    About Face

I wonder how this will impact on both those needing to show proper funding for retirement visas, and those looking to purchase property? It won't be great to have 30% of your transferred money sitting somewhere, gaining little or no interest.
  13. When you say "again" your information is incorrect, what previous occasion are you referring to, in order to justify the "again"? If you don't live in Pattaya where do you live? Pattaya People may not be a magnet for the gay society in Pattaya, if such a thing exists, but just how many newspapers are there in Pattaya that would contain the information that exists in Earwig's post? Nobody told you Pattaya Mail. I merely quoted the warning from there regarding unauthorised reproduction of their articles as a cautionary note. When Gaybutton queried that post, I pointed out the obvious, that Earwig had clearly not authored the post placed under his name. Gaybutton, thank you for your gracious apology. You provide much useful information generously, perhaps it would be best supplied as a poster rather than a moderator.
  14. Yes dear, and I have heard that pigs are flying over Jomtien. As for your moderator, he was told that the article was stolen from elsewhere, and failed to do the most elemenatary checking. I had never even heard of the "Pattaya People", but you all live in Pattaya, so presumably you had. This is after all the self proclaimed "Gay Thailand Information Source"!
  15. Having pointed out the blindingly obvious, and for doing so been castigated by the Moderators as being part of some malevolent hate campaign, I look forward to the sincere apology.
  16. My posting was never about personalitites or hate or whatever the Moderators responses appear to have accused me of. It was about the fact that the opening post was clearly not the work of the author, based on commonsense and previous posting history. If it had been posted by someone else I would also have drawn attention to this and asked that the original author be credited. Are you guys really telling me that you believe that the detailed information in the opening post came from the "authors" contacts, rather than from a newspaper article?!!
  17. Gaybutton, you don't really believe that Earwig is capable of originating all the writing in that post? For a start, it contains punctuation, only a couple of spelling mistakes, and is comprehensible. You don't actually believe that all the information contained in the post came from Earwig's own " sourses (sic)"? That these "sourses" actually provided him with the number of the arrest warrant in Germany? No. 64739277 apparently. You don't actually believe that his contacts were discussing the case with Police Colonel Sutin? You don't actually believe that most, if not all the information contained in the post, names and ages etc of all involved, were obtained without recourse to someone else's article, whether that was from the Pattaya Mail or elsewhere? Earwig, or was it LMTU, regularly used to post complete articles on SWF forum without crediting the original sources, until the members there took to pointing out from where the articles were stolen. We all want to share information, but taking another persons work, and claiming it as your own is not on, and someday one of the gay Thailand boards is going to be hit because of it. I happened to read the warning on the Pattaya Mail website within an hour of reading this originating post, and thought it appropriate that it should be brought to the moderators and readers attention, because they appear to be getting ready to take some board on.
  18. WARNING! It has come to our attention that certain unscrupulous web masters are stealing news and photos for display on their websites. Pattaya Mail Publishing Co.Ltd. own the copy rights to materials published in the Pattaya Mail newspaper and on our website. We will prosecute any offenders to the fullest extent of Thai and International Law.
  19. Five stars to you PattayaMale for this comment.
  20. And earwig, the reason that you have been banned from so many forums, in so many guises, is because you provide such a positive contribution?
  21. Your relationship with your partners is very confusing. Having read your posts it seems that you have at least one boyfriend and several Boy Specials, and that's in Pattaya alone!
  22. The charge referred to is nothing to do with International service charges. It is the charge applied by Credit Card companies to suppliers. Credit card companies do not believe that this should be passed on to customers but should come out of the suppliers profits, however I have regularly found, in Thailand, that smaller businesses pass this charge on to customers. Low profit margins perhaps excuse this??
  23. But Earwig is writing it is "it is in the middle of all the gay bars" and you are saying it is not near the gay area"! That doesn't mean the same at all!! Unless the gay bars are not in the gay area! Am I missing something here?
  24. Your point was well made Bkkguy, but inaccurate tabloid headlines seem to be in vogue here, unlike subtlety or irony. It sounds a great place but the geography is a little confusing, as Earwig writes "PJs is a very good Hotel just a bit from the market but in the middle of all the gay bars," while Stef writes "It is not near the gay area".
  25. I think that you are getting a little too hung up on the altruism angle. That was just given as one example of why the actions of the Usurping Farang are acceptable. I agree completely with Pete's point in reply to Chris, who considered that the Usurper is treating the guy less well than the Squatters Rights farang. How can anyone consider it better treatment to insist that a guy stays with you, even though you may not off him, rather than give him the freedom to earn his keep? I have only acted as the Usuper twice, as I recall, in a long career as a customer! On both occasions after receiving encouragement from the guy, I ascertained via the waiter that the Squatting Customer was not planning to off the guy, who subsequently joined me. I have on half a dozen or more occasions been "usurped", and been quite happy about it. Some of you guys are way too territorial about this, "I saw him first, so he is mine, if I decide at some point over the course of an evening that I want him"!
