  1. I didn't realise that Tahitian Queen was still going, amazing. I must have visited over several years about 40 years ago. I had a good time there on several visits, good music(not live), friendly, no hosts so neither gay nor straight, and with a great view out over the beach from a cool air conditioned interior. I will give it another try next time I am in town.
  2. What learned people we are lucky enough to have on this forum. Thank you for your Burmese history lessons. Much appreciated. Just goes to show that there is never only one version of history, but it is always good to find a common narrative, where possible. No one interpretation of historical events is ever 100% correct. Back to the whoring........ Looking forward to the next instalment from CallMeLee.......
  3. Seeing articles about this case from other non-thai sources I think that we are best to be circumspect with our comments(not least for the sake of this forum). I have decided not to add links to those articles, although Mr Google will doubtless assist.
  4. The same person, according to his account anyway.
  5. I don't believe that is "thinking in the Thai way", but, as you previously hinted, it is about protecting the status quo and the guilty from accountability. I don't believe that this is about a national mentality, but about a corrupt system which is not unique to Thailand or Asia. Roll on the revolution(s)!
  6. Agreed, this should be public information.
  7. Doesn't sound like you know much about Thailand or have done much reading on this or other gay Thailand forums. In these circumstances I wouldn't advise retiring to Thailand as you might become a member of the notorious PFC.
  8. It should be simple but why do I feel like this is being rushed in. The system is currently only in Beta, but comes into effect at the end of the month with passengers, airlines and immigration being expected to be on top of it.
  9. No shame is a national characteristic.
  10. Old bones are always interesting. A Roman war grave has just been found under a football pitch in Vienna! https://edition.cnn.com/2025/04/04/science/mass-grave-roman-soldiers-austria-intl-scli/index.html
  11. Well it's certainly the most well known project of China Railway now! Moses seems to have gone quiet on his previous accusations of racism towards someone raising the possibility of Chinese culpability!
  12. So lucky that all the tourists were off the boat when it exploded.
  13. Ah bless Thethaiger and their Editors! Water 4 metres deep but almost dry, did they mean the water was 4 centimetres deep? Or was the canal 4 metres deep and almost dry. Anyway seems a sad/interesting story with the wife saying that the dead man had alzheimers, and she didn't suspect foul play. However she also said that the dead man had difficulty walking and needed a walker at all times.............. No mention of a walker being found and police state that the route from their home to the place of discovery was "extremely difficult to traverse". Awaiting the results of the autopsy........ https://thethaiger.com/news/national/thai-police-suspect-foul-play-in-death-of-missing-austrian-man
  14. You need a pointer that get's attention to clarify which stamp is under discussion.
  15. Not sure why anyone would be so determined to exclude even the possibility of Chinese negligence in this tragedy. The link provided does not state as claimed that the steel was manufactured in India, or that Xin Ke Yuan Steel has it's roots in India. Not exactly an Indian name!
  16. China Railway also seems to have a history of corruption issues.
  17. That is interesting, and the extent of it surprising. I wonder if it correlates with the proportion of the population who are LBGT..
  18. It isn't even true that there is a duplication! Both posted different responses according to their own individual or their partner's experiences and posted different links. The more information the better, wherever it is posted.
  19. The proliferation of 9-Teen shops is strange. I had the reverse experience in the Silom branch a couple of years ago. I asked to choose the masseur and the manager agreed. But in the room the masseur had no interest in removing any clothing at any point or providing any kind of HE! I haven't been back since since. If I want a no extras massage in that area I would go to Prime for a better and cheaper service. I have rarely, if ever, read good reports of the service there from any of our intrepid reporters, but they are presumably receiving sufficient customers(of some type) to justify the expansion.
  20. This is not just to do with Mamasans. I say that as my emotional thermometer used to be very similar, trying to be polite and tolerant, but without an internal mechanism to send out readable warning signals as you pass the midway threshold of irritation, until I/you explode. I noted that you also had this issue in other situations. My coping mechanism now as I get old is to try to recognise that point in myself, and, with a smile, gently say "You are really starting to piss me off" or the appropriate cultural equivalent. I find that just saying this gives my patience a new lease of life, although it's usually not needed as the interlocutors get the message, although sometimes they do a double take first! In the end it is always about what you and the guy agree privately and then what you both feel comfortable with in the room, and nothing to do with mamasan's agendas. They always have an agenda but sadly it is often not about making both the guy and his customer happy. How many times do they mislead a customer about a guy and how many times do the customers go back to complain about the deception, not often, understandably,.........but by then the money is in the till or mamasans' back pocket.
  21. After nearly 30 years of Gay Pride marches in Budapest the next one has been banned. Human rights are being regressed all over the world. Hungary bans LGBT Pride Parade
  22. A British tourist is missing in Thailand after a boat caught fire and sank off the coast of the island of Koh Tao. The Surat Thani Provincial Public Relations Office said 26-year-old Alexandra Clarke from Lambeth, south London, was on board when the fire occurred in the ship's engine room after 09:00 ITC (02:00 GMT) on Sunday. Koh Tao Police said it believed the boat's fuel tank overflowed when it was refilled during the journey, then set alight. Officers have charged the captain and crew with negligence. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g08j0dj25o
  23. The driver of the bus admitted to falling asleep......
  24. There was a time when BBB married both the go go boy format with the freelancer disco format like DJ Station(although much smaller) at one end of the club. I think that must have been in JL's time before it was sold. That worked well, but since then........
