'Ranking' and 'Badges'

Featured Replies

Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere,

But my 'status' stuff appears to have completely changed,

I am apparently a mere 'Newbie' (joined 2015!)

And now have had a notification today that I have been awarded a 'Badge' - a 'Dedication' badge (apparently I have been spending far too long on-line on this site each day haha).

More surprising is that I have apparently already been awarded all sorts of other badges.

Its a bit like being back in the Boy Scouts again and collecting proficiency badges on your sleeve.

But still ranked a Newbie??  haha.

Makes up for our 'rep points' having apparently disappeared I suppose.

Can someone explain all this to me please (nice simple language - I am getting old!), or at least point me in the direction of where it has already been explained.

Many thanks,

Postscript: starting this thread has apparently just earned me a 'Conversation Starter' badge!  The excitement mounts!

I don't know what all that stuff means, either.

But I just sit back and watch my collection of badges and awards grow.

Some threads which were previously blocked  now accessible to me. I'm guessing it's because I've made a specified number of posts. Or maybe I have earned a special badge.

Can points be exchanged for frequent flier miles?

My ranking has increased a notch every single day this week! I have no idea how points are allocated, but surely no one can move so quickly up the various rankings? I'll soon be vaulteing through the glass ceiling or be spattered on a lead roof!

Invision required me to rebuild the database in order for previous activity, posts, etc. to show as part of the ranking system. That took a few days as it ran in the background. But, it is impressive the number of guys with so many points, badges.

I think I managed to rack up around 1200 posts under my old handle, a447a.

I see my avatar has somehow become attached to that name, too.

Can those posts be added to my new handle?  If so, I'd go flying up the chart and have badges coming out of my ears.

Wow, you are right, on Thursday I was a mere novice, now three days later I am 'experienced'! - who would have thought?  :lolu:

I can walk with a bit more of a swagger now :)

I guess that all depends in what you got more experienced at and for how long perhaps !!? :-))

- as we all know how THAT usually ends up i.e a firing squad at dawn and being buried in a hole in the ground in the woods somewhere ! :-)

after firing squad does it's job why you would care where you are buried ?

Because I want to be sure I’m buried somewhere that at least has a nice view “of course” :-)

right, I did not think about the view, LOL
