I want to change my Grindr profile such that it says homem rather than man, etc.  Does anybody out there know how to do this?  I suspect it’s not possible since I have been fiddling with the app for the past 15 minutes and have had no luck but thought I would ask anyway

The reason I want to do this is that earlier today I meat Jean on Grindr.  Jean is a 30-something tall white boy from Québécois.  Jean speaks both French and English.  Jean takes care of his body and is an avid runner.  Jean has a professional sort of job in finance/law and probably makes more money than I do.  In short, your mother would love Jean.

Jean liked that I have a professional sort of job managing projects that involve math and science.  Jean liked that he could communicate with me because I speak English and he good naturedly made fun of me for being an American (deserved).  Jean liked that I also am a runner and asked if I wanted to meet at Posto 10 and run to Posto 4 and back with him.  Since this is Grindr, he also mentioned that he would really like to go down on me and have me cum in his mouth afterward.

If you want to change the template for your Grindr profile, I am sure there is a way to switch it to Portuguese, but I do not know how. However, you can just edit your profile descriptions and use any language you want to. I am not sure what you are asking, @Novarunner. If you have been able to populate your profile with descriptions and narratives written in English, you should know how to di it in Portuguese. Just hit/tap the Edit bottom

He didn’t miss out on anything or at least in his mind he didn’t miss out on anything.  Some tall white boys are only into other tall white boys that are approximately their own age.  I’m mystified by this too but it does appear to be a fact of life.

The worst part was putting my still sweaty running clothes back on and walking back to my hotel in them after being rejected (albeit politely since he was Canadian after all) for basically being some sort of sexual pervert.  Minutes after I left, he blocked me on Grindr too.

The direct answer to your pergunta is that I was looking to change the template in Grindr which does not appear to be a thing one can do.

The indirect answer is some combination of Hometown, U.S.A. has more than its fair share of tall white boys that I can meet on Grindr, do “things” with that may or may not involve a fully clothed activity first of some sort and then never see again.  Granted, “things” in Hometown, U.S.A. generally don’t end with me leaving in still sweaty running clothes after being rejected as a sexual pervert but, still, that’s really just all the more reason I don’t want to be dealing with this sort of thing while here.  Also, had I not met Jean yesterday I probably would have actually gone to 117 last night and instead met Amazon Boy a day earlier and had amazing passionate sex with him instead, well, one day sooner.

I agree that we have somewhat similar taste in lean, toned men.  I get turned off though when they cross the line from swimmer into muscular though.  I also prefer versátil but have been know to compromise on that point when I think it’s in my best interest.

What is the purpose of this post?  There isn’t really one other than the fact that I am now sitting in the airport killing time on my way home and the following thoughts have been going through my mind:

1. Beautiful Creature and I have attempted to procreate six or seven times now (no luck yet but we will keep trying) during the three trips I have made to Brazil so our “negotiations” these days are generally oriented more toward whether or not we are going out to eat and, if so, what type of food we will be having.  Spending the entire night together has never been discussed.

2. I have had sex with a lot of people but have actually spent the entire night  with fewer than ten.  For example, I have traveled to Thailand about ten times and spent the entire night with exactly one boy while there.

3. The three trips I have made to Brazil have now resulted in me spending the entire night with two different boys.  On my first trip I spent the entire night with a boy from Minas Gerais who spoke zero English that I met at Lagoa.  That had a lot to do with the fact I strongly suspected he didn’t have anywhere to go that night if he didn’t spend it with me though.  I also didn’t mind having an excuse to pay him more than the R$100 he had already enthusiastically agreed to.

4. I’m not the least bit upset about any of this and Beautiful Creature is certainly more than welcome to just fall asleep in my bed again, if he would like.

5. Overnight with random guys isn’t my thing but we also certainly don’t need to be making plans to meet each other’s parents either for it to happen.

6. I did my homework before making my first trip to Brazil and my recollection is that for those of you that do have a thing for overnight, it can be challenging to arrange in Brazil for a variety of reasons.

7. Beautiful Creature might have decided to spend the night because he was angling for a larger tip or maybe he was just a little drunk and sleepy.  He also seems to be very interested in tagging along on my business trip to Barcelona this summer and might have been attempting to audition for that.

In the end, I guess none of this really matters because whatever the reason, it was an exceptionally pleasant way to end the trip.

I would post a picture or two of Beautiful Creature but he has informed me that he is now “retired.”  Don’t ask….  I did and all I can tell you his definition of retired is substantial different than mine.

A more obvious reason (apart from his delight in your company) may be that he lives a long way from the expensive areas of Rio.
 

I’ve no idea how well public transport functions at night if he has to commute back to an ordinary residential area. Nor how long that journey might take late at night. Nor how much Uber might charge if you were to arrange and pay for that. 

 

I would think that such occurrences are rare and that you are far more likely to find handsome local boys who would be drawn to you with the prospect of a mutually beneficial arrangement.  If you occasionally get a blow job from what can charitable described as a confused and skittish lad, that seems a price worth paying, no?

Beautiful Creature lives only about 10 kilometers outside the tourist zone so I generally get him an Uber when it’s time to part company.  Uber in Brazil is very affordable but, yes, your thought is a good one and should have been added to my list of possibilities.  Are boys that live far outside the tourist zone something you have experienced frequently in Rio?  Army Boy is the only encounter that I have had (that I know of at least) with someone that lives far outside the tourist zone.

His delight in my company is of course my preferred choice here but, well, I like some of the people I work with too for various different reasons and that would probably be a much more accurate way of putting it…. if, in fact, there is any degree of truth to it at all.

I miss Brazil already and I’ve only been home now for a couple days.  Spending approximately half my time in Rio is quickly becoming a goal.  If others could point me toward some of the decidedly unsexy nuts and bolts info needed to figure out if I can actually accomplish that goal, I would greatly appreciate it.  Has anybody out there opened a bank account in Brazil?  What is a good website to use to research renting an apartment or buying a condo in Ipanema?  If I sit in my Ipanema condo and yap on the phone and type emails to earn USD, at what point does the Brazilian government determine that they get to start taxing my income?  I am old but no where close to old enough to retire. Also, I like my job (usually) and don’t even want to retire…  I just want to work from Brazil.

IIRC there is a lot of such info on this site. It dates from a few years ago. I recall that there were posters who wrote about the admin difficulties etc and, again IIRC, there was an Italian expat who lived (lives?) in Rio. 
 

You may have to spend considerable time using the Search function here. There was a poster named Trilingual who posted a great deal about Brazil and, of course, the current very frequent posters on aspects of Brazil are Numazu and Tomcal.

 

One of the issues that I recall being discussed was housing. In addition to all the other challenges, properties of part-time residents get robbed with great frequency apparently. 

I would expect so. That or they get lived in by the locals. I mean I can do see someone doing a weekend at Bernie’s in a place I time share in or don’t live 100 percent of my time in. That’s even if it’s a condo in a high rise that I get cleaned often with HOA fees.

The absence of much evidence of Omicron VOC and the low levels of CoV incidence overall is almost eery considering Brazil was reporting Omicron small numbers of test-positives around the same time that Canada and USA were detecting early small numbers that eventually surged and quickly eclipsed the Delta variant. Calm before the storm? 

”Flurona” ‘twindemic’, simultaneous SARS-CoV-2 and Influenza infection,  appears to be currently grabbing the headlines more than coronavirus alone. From what I can gather there is an outbreak of A-H3N2 (Darwin strain lineage) in Rio and São Paulo. It is a vaccine escape variant for which Brazil’s winter inoculation campaign months ago and the North’s recent/current Fluzone rollout offers little protection though may mitigate illness severity. The Darwin strain construct is being integrated for Australia’s 2022 inoculation season months away, presumably also across Southern Hemisphere. 

The Flurona phenomenon is actually quite rare due to the reduced prevalence of coronavirus, but the anomaly of a summer flu outbreak in Brazil was not unexpected. 

Implications? Visitors snogging the locals may pick up flu. I think that with symptoms one would just rapid antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 to rule out coronavirus and rule in influenza. There is obviously symptom overlap. Hospitals and Clinics can swab and differentiate but I don’t know if pharmacies have flu stand-alone detection kits.

Any of vocês planning a trip to Brazil in March?  It looks like I will be there March 24th to April 1st.  My plan is to visit Porto Alegria for a couple days and spend the rest of the time in Rio.
