A few of the boys I keep in contact with who used to work at Toolbox say he has, but are unsure of the bar name. But have also heard on one of the boards (can't remember if it was this one or another) that was incorrect.

Maybe so but still it's cheaper than Boyz Town and more lively , by the way most of the bars there are not profitable and the farang owners are doing it as hobby.

I don't know about profit but one owner told me a bar there sold recently for 3 million baht 😳😳😳😳

The complex needs something new. The old formula is failing. As for drink price fixing. Yes, one farang bar owner tried to fix drink prices at 100 baht / beer. Some bars went along with it, others didn't. Complex prices are getting stupid, when you can walk 20 meters to one of the newer "pop up" bars and pay 30 - 40% less for drinks. Greed will be many bars downfall.

The whole street is being knocked down for more Chinese construction. The landlord of Toolbox wouldn't renew the lease. Toolbox survived COVID.. but It couldn't survive gentrification.
October 16, 20223 yr Probably worth mentioning that 4-6 boys from Toolbox are in Jomtien Complex now. A couple at @home bar. 69 Bar. They are on another level of sexy.

Bribes are up, rents are going up. While it might sound insensitive, nobody running a bar in Jomtien Complex comes from a business background. I know of a truck driver, a janitor, ect ect. This may be changing with the new JEWEL bar. Or maybe he will just leave it to his boy to turn into another Asian party bar. Every new bar copies the bar next door. There is not new ideas. No ingenuity. Same shit uncomfortable furniture. Same overprices warm beer. Same fake liquor (spirits). More disinterested boys because the bar owners don't pay them a salary and expect them to work for free. Hopefully things will change. My hopes are on a Toolbox 2.0!

Occasionally there are some who try to break the mould. X-treme in Soi Twilight 20 years or so ago - died in a couple of years having lost money. Classic Boys also in Twilight introduced the water show. But the water got so dirty and the water show itself plain boring that it reverted to type. Happy Boys just outside the Sunee complex was fun for those who liked thinks - but died. Krazy Dragon in Sunee. Good idea, badly planned, died. Almost the only one that was different was Eros which had a good run for its money. As has been written several times over almost 2 decades in this and other forums there is surely another reason for bars not mkaing profits. The fun element has largely disappeared. Anyone looking for a model which worked brilliantly need look no further than Barbiery on Sukhumvit. Of course it was a gogo bar and not a beer bar, but it got the formula absolutely right - location, boys, pricing, shows. For its first 15 years it could hardly put a foot wrong. Totally packed every week-end and often pretty much so during weekdays. Then it took a nosedive after it moved into the new building opposite Nature Boys. Totally changed the concept and it died after little more than a year. If an owner has no interest I don't see how anything is going to change. There were no such things as mobile phones 25 years ago and the boys always seemed much friendlier. If I owned a bar the first thing I would do is ban the boys from using phones when working. But then i suppose the bar would have no boys!!

October 17, 20223 yr Author I didn't go to many bars when I was there in July . I think most popular are the Scottish guys bar ,I didn't go there though as it seemed crowded and as i don't like people I avoid busy bars .

October 18, 20223 yr Certainly was the price when I was there in August/September. However the beer “stalls” were much cheaper. I used to be able to buy a large bottle of beer at the first bar, next to Adonis, ( The Point?) for only 80 baht!
