Apple store (at those prices) is clearly not interested in doing repairs but wants to entice owners to upgrade to new phone.
April 25, 20251 yr Last year (November) when I helped my guy buy a new iPhone, I put the below 2 conditions on my contribution: 1.) He MUST buy the CASETiFY safety shockproof case. https://casetify.com/iphone-cases/ 2.) He must install the Apple Find My app service in case he misplaces it or it gets stolen. https://www.apple.com/icloud/find-my/ To date his iPhone has been dropped many times and the front facing glass has not broken, as the expensive CASETiFY case is doing its job. When a new phone costs around 60.000 baht (with all of the add ons) it MUST be secured with a safety shockproof protection case.

But most of the guys here in Pattaya only want an iPhone. I'm not sure why so many people choose apple when there is so much more freedom with android.

These are often not cheap but they make repairs far cheaper than normal. I assume the Bt.3,300 would be the replacement cost IF ypur friend had purchased the AppleCare package.
