23,000 baht ($685) is about the price of the Apple iPhone 15.

What is the 3,300 baht quote for?

In any case, I'm sure there are shops in MBK that can do it at cost-effective price.

My guy believes it's much cheaper to repair in Vietnam. He's going back to Vietnam for a week end of next month

Then it certainly makes more sense to do it there. Apple store (at those prices) is clearly not interested in doing repairs but wants to entice owners to upgrade to new phone.

Last year (November) when I helped my guy buy a new iPhone, I put the below 2 conditions on my contribution:

1.) He MUST buy the CASETiFY safety shockproof case.

https://casetify.com/iphone-cases/

2.) He must install the Apple Find My app service in case he misplaces it or it gets stolen.

https://www.apple.com/icloud/find-my/

To date his iPhone has been dropped many times and the front facing glass has not broken, as the expensive CASETiFY case is doing its job.

When a new phone costs around 60.000 baht (with all of the add ons) it MUST be secured with a safety shockproof protection case.

Easy to get to 60k when you add the expensive Apple add ons like; additional warranty, correct amount of memory for someone who is an avid social media guru, shock damage proof security case, etc.

Makes my Samsung, equivalent to 7,000 baht, look good value! It does everything I want, 128k, etc.

I am also using a cheap and humble Samsung!

I also use Samsung, as I much prefer the freedom of the Android OS, as Apple's approach is to insist on a "walled garden", to protect its end users.

But most of the guys here in Pattaya only want an iPhone.

Furthermore, I don't like the way that the Apple approach to music royalties has hurt some of the independent musicians.

Samsung all the way! I'm not sure why so many people choose apple when there is so much more freedom with android.

I think that they prefer the safety of the "walled garden" --> to avoid the fear of what is beyond and on the other side.

The other thing that I don't like about the "walled garden" approach is that there is an inference that I am not intelligent enough to navigate the world outside without having my hands held.

I want the freedom of, "the world is my oyster..."

When you purchase an Apple product you have the option of purchasing an AppleCare plan. These are often not cheap but they make repairs far cheaper than normal. I assume the Bt.3,300 would be the replacement cost IF ypur friend had purchased the AppleCare package.
