If no dancing, what is attraction? I understand  that you can't off the boys during opening hours, at least you used not to be able to.

It seems to operate as a host bar where the boys will keep you company in return for a drink. The plus point is that their English is very good. All waiters from Myanmar.

Do they also speak Thai? Feels kinda weird going to a venue in Thailand where Thai isn't spoken and all you meet are foreigners.

Some time ago, the boys were mainly from Myanmar.  However I think it has changed hands some months ago. It was a host bar, you bought guy a drink, reasonable prices, and chat. Not very exciting. You could do the vinapu tuck, but that was about it!

You're from Colorado? It must be getting cold where you are and will be even colder when you return from Thailand.🥶

I live in Colorado now.  Most of my adult life I lived and worked in the SF Bay Area (San Jose).  I have one sister who lives in Denver as well as my two nephews.  That is the only family I have.  Due to some health concerns after I retired, I decided it was better to live closer to family.  This decision was made because when my parents were alive, my mother had many health related problems and they lived in Florida.  With just me and my sister, we both made multiple trips to Florida dealing with family stuff.  I did not want my sister or nephews to deal with the same thing for me being in California.  So, I moved to Denver in July 2024.  I am definitely not accustomed to the cold weather or winters here, which is why my friends offered me their condo in Pattaya for the winter months.  Days are currently pleasant here in the mid to upper 70's, but nights get quite chilly now.  They have already had snow in the mountains.  Getting around in the snow and ice last winter was definitely a challenge for me, so if I can avoid it this year I will.

Thank you for sharing. It must be hard moving from a warmer climate and being close to the beach to all that cold but you did what you had to do. I've never cared for Pattaya - I feel that it is a magnet for the world's dregs and that includes Thais and westerners - but the weather is alright with plenty of sunshine even in the cooler months. What's more you've already got accommodation waiting for you! Plus all the amenities you could possibly need at your doorstep. From the questions that you've been asking and the meticulous preparations that you're making, I imagine that you're quite sensible and will be circumspect in every step that you take. There's only one rule that's put me in good stead everywhere I've been in Thailand: if something (or someone) sounds, looks or smells too good to be true, it usually is.
