gytis123 Posted Sunday at 08:13 PM Posted Sunday at 08:13 PM Hello forum members I'm guy in early 30s This will be my 5th trip to Thailand and a longer one. At last I've got an opportunity to stay in Thailand for nearly 2 months (Dec 21 to 2026 Jan 13). This time I'm thinking to reside in Bangkok first just to get a glimpse how it feels and what it takes to live in Thailand. Because before I traveled to Thailand just for 2/3 week holidays 1 or 2 times a year as an average tourist since first trip 2023 May. Later in the future when I can work remotely I will try Pattaya. Sorry that I did not post my past experiences on this forum because I made some mistakes and it was a little bit complicated. I felt embarrassed to write a trip report. On the 1st trip which I will never forget I met a boy from Myanmar and stayed with him for entirety of my trip (3 weeks) Bangkok and Pattaya. So I did not get to experience the chase aka butterflying. I got very infatuated with him. We called each other everyday while I was in my country. Everything was ok from financial side (no requests for money), but not from psychological side. And on later trips "drama", tears, jealousy and guilt tripping followed when I wanted to actually experience the chase, because my time was very limited on holidays. But now I don't have any strings attached. But that matter is for another topic. My main question for now is about accommodation. I'm already booked Surawong 56 hotel for 1st week. And and my plan is during that week I will try to contact owners (maybe via https://www.renthub.in.th/ or Airbnb) and go around looking for apartment somehow? I don't have any idea how, because I never rented in Thailand before. Will that work out that way or am I missing something? I want to stay near Lumphini park (for running exercise) or somewhere in Sathorn area. Silom itself is ok, but I don't want to stay long term in tourist areas where I'm being harassed by tuk tuk drivers or touts every single time I pass them I ignore them but still gets old very quickly As I read from various sources that not many wants to rent out for period less than 6 months. I'm thinking about Airbnb or Serviced apartments. 1. Any other legal issues with Airbnb even if I stay obviously longer then 30 days? 2. Where to buy spare bedsheets or extra towels? Where to wash clothes, bedsheets, towels etc. if apartment doesn't have washing machine? Maybe whole apartment building have communal laundry? As I understand it's not a case in serviced apartments. Because some accidents can happen during aerobics (happened with one boy from Pattaya while I was f****** him during my last trip, I did not mind because hotel took care of everything 3. Safety concerns when bringing boy to your apartment. In hotels I always put everything worth for stealing in safe when I bringing boy to my room. What to do if apartment does not have safe box? vinapu and FunFifties 2 Quote

Sadly the serviced apartments that I would have recommended are closed for refurbishment. For extra sheets etc, you are thinking too much already. I am sure that you will normally be able to obtain a change of sheets etc in serviced apartments or Airbnb. Just explain that you have had an "accident". Anyway first find your apartment and then you will find a shopping mall nearby where you can buy this if you prefer. Regarding washing clothes just ask the apartment supplier and if they don't have an on site service they will surely be able to advise you. If there is no safety box you can lock valuables in a suitcase. In the areas that you mention you will be asked if you want tuk tuk etc if you look like a tourist. It's just part of the soundtrack. Ignore or say "no thank you" without stopping. gytis123, pong2 and vinapu 3 Quote
jimmie50 Posted Sunday at 09:10 PM Posted Sunday at 09:10 PM When looking for an Airbnb, you can set certain criteria. I would suggest you set it up so units with a washer/dryer combo are available in the unit. I always do that when I am traveling anywhere...US or international...and booking an Airbnb. On my recent trip to Bangkok, I used a service called WashDrop. You can find them online. If you end up renting a unit that doesn't have a washer or laundry in the building, I recommend this service. They will pick it up and return it within 24 hours. You can place the order online via their website. You will need to pay in advance with credit card before they return your order. The service was recommended to me by the front desk at Ibis Styles Silom. Also, if you decide to book through Airbnb, I have found most owners offer a cleaning service which includes clean sheets and towels anywhere from every 3 days up to once a week for an additional fee. I always take advantage of this service as well. vinapu, Olddaddy and gytis123 3 Quote

I always take advantage of this service as well. It is even better. I thought only serviced apartments offer these services. Did you contact owners via email, messaging apps (Line, Watsapp ect.) or just call them directly? Have you not experieced any difficulties communicating with them in english? I just hope it will not take more than 3 days to find where to stay for those 8 weeks. Have any of you used renting agencies in Bangkok maybe or it's just better to stick to rental listing websites? I've also used Google Translate to communicate via messages on Airbnb and WhatsApp. Relatively easy with no difficulties. Once I have confirmed the booking on Airbnb with payment, exact address and contact information is provided for the owner. Usually, they have reached out to me introducing themselves, explaining anything out of the ordinary or unusual about the property as well as how to contact them with any issues or concerns. At that time they have mentioned they have someone they use to clean the apartment and would be happy to arrange that service during my stay. I usually accept that offer and pay the cleaning person directly when they are on the premises. The owner has helped to facilitate the day and time for such service. Quote
hank75 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Given that Airbnbs are illegal in Thailand how secure have you felt using this service? My concern is that the landlord can flout Airbnb guidelines knowing the tenant has no recourse to making a police report should anything go wrong, or even evict you after collecting payment. Quote
Travelingguy Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I thought that AirBnB is legal in Thailand if the stay is more than 30 days. Quote

Just to clarify, I have not used Airbnb on my previous visits to Thailand because I have always been visiting friends. I would either stay with them at their home, or stay in one of their rental condo's around Sukhumvit. However, I have used Airbnb many other places internationally. My understanding in Thailand is that anything over 30 days is legal. Quote
