When I was there, most of the area was closed, only one row of sunloungers. Clearly that is no longer the case, and, as I said, the work was to be completed end January.  I was offered the W option, but that's a bit of a bore, having to wait for a bus, go to another hotel, not knowing whether that pool is busy etc. I look forward to seeing renovations in November.

Probably GoldMember has already booked his accommodation, but I would like to share my accommodation experience.

Agoda has been a lifesaver for me. When I am in Bangkok I alternate my accommodation between Silom area and On Nut, where I like to go to a famous gym there. Last year in the low season I planned my itinerary according to the prices on Agoda. When there was a special deal, I would book Quarter Silom and occasionally Tarntawan, when QS was a lot more expensive. The weekends made the prices skyrocket in Silom, so I would go back for a few days to On Nut, which is considerably cheaper.

This year I did the same, even though I suspected that the time of the year might catch me out. But, no, I was shocked to discover that if I played my cards right, I could get great deals if I booked according to the prices (which could vary considerably), and used any Agoda enticements. Ok, I don't use American currency, but to put things in perspective, I got accommodation at Quarter Silom for between $US70-75 a night. Now that's not too bad, when you consider they have a gym, steam room, sauna, swimming pool, rooftop sunbathing and close proximity to the scene. You can also get a breakfast buffet for 245 baht and there is a good selection. So, if you can put up with a fairly poky room, I think it's value for money. And you never have a hassle taking a guy to your room.

I always book Quarter Saladaeng at the beginning of my holiday, as it helps me to unwind after a long trip and it's close to Lumpini Park.

I like the Quarter Silom too especially the Tower 3 as it does not pass directly through the reception desk, but the walls are paper thin you can hear the next room chatting and the doors are slamming hard somewhat because of air pressure somewhere.

Indeed I have booked several options and will decide probably next week. Keeping my fingers crossed that the fragile geopolitical situation in my region doesn't escalate.
