Inflated rates?!

I’m not a particularly skilled negotiator, but I still find it difficult to reconcile the prices mentioned here with what I usually pay. To be fair, I’m not especially interested in muscular guys; I hire through Grindr & Hornet, which means I avoid bar fees, and I reach out to them at odd hours. I usually negotiate the price down to 700–1000 baht for an hour, though I usually pay 1000. This is considerably lower than the inflated rates I see mentioned here!

I am not as experienced at negotiating as some of the other forum members who have been doing this a little longer than me...what I notice on this trip is the off fee seems to be consistently THB 500 regardless of which bar or club.  While there is no cover charge per se, you are required to buy a drink which can run anywhere from THB 300-500 depending on the bar or club.  From my perspective, this is no difference than clubs in other countries that have a cover charge to enter but there is no required drink purchase.  Same thing by a different name is all this is.  When it comes to offing the guys...I learned from this forum and personal experience to keep mamasan out of the negotiations.  I will only discuss directly with the guy any such arrangements.  I also find they will start high but quickly come down once they realize you are not brand new to the scene or a total novice.  Once they discover you have some sense of what is going on...they are more willing to negotiate.  It also depends on if you are expecting something short term or overnight.  I tend to go for the THB 1500 mark in my negotiations.  Then, if I have a really great or fantastic experience will usually include tip to THB 2000 and make that my limit.  Still, with drink, off fee, and money to the guy...you can easily be in it for THB 3000-3500.  That is a good bit more expensive than your 700-1000 via Grinder & Hornet.
