Inflated rates?!

I’m not a particularly skilled negotiator, but I still find it difficult to reconcile the prices mentioned here with what I usually pay. To be fair, I’m not especially interested in muscular guys; I hire through Grindr & Hornet, which means I avoid bar fees, and I reach out to them at odd hours. I usually negotiate the price down to 700–1000 baht for an hour, though I usually pay 1000. This is considerably lower than the inflated rates I see mentioned here!

What's the ages your going for ?

Would they be guys of mature age ?

There is a lot that goes into setting prices.  Some bars have a minimum price the guys are supposed to charge.  At Fresh boys I was told all guys charge the same.  At other bars guys will charge more for things such as gym bodies, fair I think as I get to enjoy their hard work.
There is also a limit how hard I’m willing to negotiate.  I’m out to have fun and haggling for me isn’t fun.  Also I generally feel they are earning the money.  Even the gay ones would not be going with me if money wasn’t involved.
Many times on the apps I could have gotten cheaper, but they weren’t really my type or interest.I was happy with the value on my last trip of the guys I went with and I think that is all that matters, even if I could have gotten cheaper by haggling harder.

forgive Peter, he drinks his gin with tomato juice.

Never touch gin! Vodka puhlease! And I dislike tomatos. I will take an extra dry vodka martini with a lemon twist every time, thank you.

I find it super interesting that you interpreted my post that way.

I think it's a question  of the eye of the beholder.

I assume also a dislike of potatos?

Absolutely beautiful post and may your haggling tactics continue 🙏

Sometimes it's not the actual sex it's the chasing ....the chasing that not only makes you horny but gets you off , although now it's online

I remember years ago ,( and please don't quote me)  but it must be 20 years ago ,

oh get fucked if you don't believe me ,anyway I ended up meeting an old miserable farang in a bar , who said to me he got straight boys back  off the street for 200 baht , this was ( 2005/2006 era)

I didn't believe him !

I said your a lying old cunt

So he invited me out with him to walk ,  haggle  and deal with any boys he came across,  that he fancied,

,even guys with their girlfriends ! Yep , he went to haggle

and yes he did get a few black eyes 👀🥊🥊 but anyway let me get back to the story please!!!!‼️

Now I have fucking forgotten what I was going to write ,‼️

he said follow me🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️,  and he went up to a  drug affected Thai  guy who  with his girlfriend and asked bluntly in Thai language ( he could speak Thai partially) if he wanted 200 baht for sex with him and suck his cock etc

The Thai guy was talking back to him and the old miserable farang smiling and talking back , negotiations, haggling it went on, just like a boardroom negotiation .

Then all of a sudden the old cunt  said to me , quite gleefully"I cum 💦💦, I cum !!!  Ive cum  already negotiating the price " he said happily

, I have blew my load ‼️ he said ..as I looked down at his wet stain crotch💦 in his shorts ,even the Thai guy looked down to see a wet patch and was shocked 😲

And he said " this my dear watson is how I save money because the chase is better than the real thing !!💦😲

Of course the dirty  old  miserable cunt would be dead by now ⚰️☠️

A real miser would have stayed home, ejaculating to the thought of having spent neither money on boys nor time haggling!

I cringe every time I read about "inflated rates". There is no such thing as an infated rate. The tip you pay is your way of thanking the boy you have just been with. If you are basically in the category of being poor, it will inevitably be on the small side. If you are well off, it ought to be much higher - although there are skinflints everywhere.

I call it unreasonable. Around all ages and places, prostitution cost about a daily wage. Only when first-world tourists meet second and thirds world prostitutes, things get out of order. I have been asked for 2000, 2500 and 3000 THB as well, completely out of question, and not even a base for negotiation. Fortunately, there are some around who agree on a reasonable 1000, and there is street trade for 500.

500-1000 is in line with a daily wage and what I consider reasonable. Cambodia, where I pay 20 USD, is on the high side; but in Myanmar, for lack of tourists, you can get someone for equivalent of 10 EUR.

I  haven't been to Bangkok gogo bars for over 6 years and can't see me ever going again. Why would I pay 500 for a drink to look at boys, when I can get a boy from street trade for the same price? I take all my bar business to Pattaya, and even there increasingly online dating.

How much you tip or pay has nothing to do with your wealth. You pay for a service. Do you pay your hairdresser according to your financial situation?

I agree tipping may have - stress "may" - little to do with your financial wealth. But it is for some people. But to compare it with going to a hairdresser is frankly nonsense.

Similarly you cannot compare a tip for prostitution the equivalent of a daily wage. Most people on a daily wage get precisely that - the same amount each day guaranteed for at least a decent peiod of time. Someone seeking sex may go for days without any customer - and we know from what has been written here in the past that there are boys who get no customers for a week or more. We all know that you tip at the lower end of the scale. That's perfectly fine if the boy you are with is happy with it. But you live here, you speak Thai and you know all about negotiation. Most customers are very different.

No, it doesn't. I don't know how you came up with this comparison. Have you ever worked in your life; do you understand the concept of income and wages at all?

I find your remarks offensive and insulting to both sex workers and their customers. From your comments here and in the past I find nothing "First World" about you at all. And what is this "order" you speak of? In Thailand, which is a developing country, Thai customers pay the same as foreigners, other factors remaining equal (for eg the venue, type of service, looks of sex worker, etc) as do customers from other developing countries. The customer's country of origin has got nothing to do with it. And at the high-end venues where the customers are almost exclusively Thai and a smattering of other Asians, they pay considerably more. You just don't know about them because they're out of your league.

Boo-hoo, what a pity. I hear the go go bars in Bangkok miss your custom desperately and are begging for you to come back. 🙄 Implicit in your comments is that all bars and sex workers are created equal. They aren't. Comparing risky street trade to, say, the guys at Moonlight or The Residences is like saying a skanky, slum-shoebox-dwelling  German is equivalent to a grand British dame living it up in a Le Meridien suite. Quelle horreur!

The words 'mean', and 'self satisfied' might have been invented to describe  you.

As you said yourself, there is nothing wrong with saving a few baht, especially if you’re broke.

not exactly. The same haircut may cost 300-500 in Silom but only 120 in soi Pluk Chit, one MRT stop away, or 150 in soi Suan Plu so obviously choice i of provider is motivated by personal financial situation  , or greed or free spending or blend of those.

I'm kind of in agreement with him on this, although not on a daily wage, it's usually up to 3 times the daily wage...... until people inflated what someone should make.

A housekeeper in US and Mexico now makes more than a "formal" job with a degree as a daily wage and works less hours.

Instead of a hairdresser, I use a can of Coke as an analogy. Go into 7/11 and say, that's too cheap.... then pay double.

I know people will say, not the same, they are providing a service.... 100% right, you couldn't pay me enough to fuck @Olddaddy big, hairy ass..... but allegedly he get's it for free, so go figure🥺

A product or service is worth what someone is willing to pay.  This is the essence of capitalism and is driven by supply and demand.

no, he knows that discussing price gets us inflamed as nothing excite  people more than talking about other's spending habits so he gladly put some gasoline into our small flame.  He is not as stingy as he likes us to believe. As Peter pointed out he is local  so his perspective and options are  very different than somebody's who is coming once or twice a year for 2 week vacations.

analogy would make sense only if can of Coke needs to eat and , yes , to have haircut from time to time .

most of us seeing can of Coke too cheap would be suspicious that there's something wrong with it.
