The opening of Guidos

I can confirm that the Pratamnak branch of Guido's "G's Bangkok" is open.

During my evening health walk I walked by.  I did not enter as I was hot and sweaty.

There were some customers and some nice music was playing.

I want to come and eat here at the soonest.

Glad to hear they made it, almost on scheduled time.

Now I wonder how G's in soi 4 will be affected with boss presumably  paying more attention to Pattaya operation.

Fair point, as I think it is Guido's personality,  and interaction with guests, that gets a steady flow of people in to the restaurant. I realise that he is not popular with all on here, but I think he is very hardworking. As @floridarob may agree, it's tough in the service industry.

you are saying not everybody here likes Guido sausage ? 

I can't see why somebody wouldn't like him as he is engaging but not overbearing and definitely hard working as you said . Trying to please everybody is very uphill struggle , specially in food department as it always be somebody who will claim he was served water not wet enough

that's ok and I'd say pretty normal, be it restaurant , bars , spas  etc. And where's choice It's always easy to avoid place we don't like

reminds me situation when I was visiting my parents , I was about 50. My mother was looking for something  she couldn't find and father advised her " ask baby , perhaps he took it" meaning me

And indeed, as others have already noted: for many people, a visit to G's is not just for the food, but also for the interactions with Guido. And he can't split himself in two. So I'm curious how that will go.

Yep, Menu Same Same.

One current difference is the plates. In that the boards used in Bangkok haven't been duplicated due to availability, so the meagre portions are served up on serving plates. Guido will be introducing them soon.

Have it via a reliable source tennants in Soi 4 are being served notice, so maybe the timing of running 2 operations will only be short term.

you have a good heart !

menu may be the same but if cook is different  the same dish may taste the same, better or worse than original. At my beloved Foodland Patpong  my even more beloved chicken with cashew nuts tasted bit differently during day and  in the late evening. Observation confirmed by somebody else     but it's where agreement stopped since each of us  liked better opposite version.

I first had chicken with cashew nuts years ago in Bangkok and it was delicious, especially with lots of chilli.

But the problem was, they used far too much oil. Lots of stir-fry dishes in Asia also have the food swimming in oil, which is a turn-off for me.

I used to say 'nam man nit noi' (just a little oil) but I still couldn't eat it.

In the old days, when I used to cook, I made it using soup stock instead of oil.

What is it like at Guido's and the inimitable Foodland? Would I be able to eat it?

for me neither version is soaked in oil so I venture to say  you should be able to eat it . I like it cooked with dried chili but when eating I put it aside .

Sarika on Suriwong should be re-opened already after renovations  - perhaps their version is the best in the area .

At Schatzi in Jomtien Complex they also do a great job preparing it , and so does Sophie's kitchen around the corner

If you are referring to Chicken Cashew I don't recall that on the menu at Schatzi?

Last time I was in Bangkok he told me I am a VIP at his restaurant and will always get the best table
