Olddaddy Posted yesterday at 09:54 AM Posted yesterday at 09:54 AM I never use to really drink alcohol because I don't like beer 🍻 and the disgusting drink I had recently a Jagermeister left me sick for days But I have tasted Port or rather sweet wine 🍷 and I am starting to love the wines 🍷 🍷 as long as it's sweet red Only if it's sweet, if it's not sweet then I have to add sprite So rather I have gone into the establishments such as wine connection or Dr wine in the Phillipines where I put my upper class voice on and pretended to be a connessieur of wines only to be caught out by the young Filipina server who knew more about wines than me ! Pouring out the wine into a glass ...I had no idea what they wanted me to do ...so pretending to be a wine connessieur I put my nose 👃 into the quarter filled glass ...oh yes splendid I shouted to the waitress in my upper class royal voice "Absolutely splendid ! She looked at me strangely 🫢maybe I was meant to taste it ? Also I love to have a good cheeseboard 🧀🧈🧀with my wine , 🍷 Wine Women & Song or in our case Wine Men & Song I did check out the Primo restaurant near Jomtien complex seems no 🧀 cheeseboard but I could be wrong Be interested in those who are in fact big wine drinkers , wine is actually expensive here in Thailand, and much cheaper in Australia at around $5 a bottle at aldi What about you though DON'T drink alcohol....you must be boring a-447, 10tazione and floridarob 1 2 Quote

FunFifties Posted yesterday at 12:22 PM Posted yesterday at 12:22 PM I am not much of a drinker. Usually just beer and the occassional glass of white wine with a meal. Red wines are wasted on me - I can appreciate the smell, but in my mouth, all I get is tannins. On rare nights out, maybe a cocktail or two, but almost never shots and definetely not of the bitter variant like Jagermeister. I absolutely agree that is a disgusting drink 🤢 Quote
Olddaddy Posted yesterday at 12:26 PM Author Posted yesterday at 12:26 PM I must try the white wine ..it's always been red instead of white .... But with black you always go back ... Oh shut up your drunk FunFifties 1 Quote
a-447 Posted yesterday at 03:11 PM Posted yesterday at 03:11 PM I'm not a drinker as such - just a social beer or cocktail. However, my 'friends' took a liking to champagne and that is now my alcoholic drink of choice. My favourite is Billecart Salmon. I've also enjoyed Cristal and Dom Perignon, but they are too expensive and definitely not value for money. I never have more than 2 glasses. Olddaddy and Ruthrieston 2 Quote

Don’t know about any miracle of goat cheese on a plank. Quote

I absolutely agree that is a disgusting drink 🤢 lets agree to disagree. Try Hungarian made Unicum, even more bitter but if you have stomach problems it does miracles and fast at that. To answer Daddy's question, yes I do like a drink or 4, preferably straight shots of something stronger like gin. Not big fan of drinks unless is patented Vinapu one made from 74 % of gin and 26% of gin. Wine only for social occasion when others are drinking it and yes , sweet version is preferable. Beer only when is hot AND I'm on vacation. rarely drink beer at home. I never drink water as that is an animal's drink , not fit for human consumption Ruthrieston and FunFifties 1 1 Quote
durian Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Lager. Ice cold. I drink too much, the beer belly is proof. Being an ex navy lad, beer/lager is defacto. Beer in vietnam is ridiculously cheap unfortunatley. Sitting at a beach cafe watching the boys play volleyball in shorts and san miguel is filthy cheap. (pity the boys aren't cheap too) Last few days and it's back to malaysia where beer is ridiculously fucking expensive so hopefully I might lose a bit of fat. before I retired 2 years ago I would happily spend all weekend binge drinking beer..... I've managed to stop that, but I do like a few pints come sun down. I prefer a 4.7% or 5% lager, nothing stronger or my old head hurts too much the next day, that said, Polish Perla lager has a kick on it which has yet to be rivaled, fortunatley I haven't seen that on my travels.... I never drink on travel/flight day or the night before... too old for that shit. Back in malaysia I have a car so that helps with not drinking, altho I will have a one small bottle of tiger with my meal at the foodcourt and drive home, never more. Quote
Londoner Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I was brought-up as a Methodist and "signed the pledge" when I was eight years-old. My parents discovered that I was a reprobate when, on "vacs" from university, I completed a boozy night with my friends by being sick all over my bedroom. God bless them both; my mother quietly cleaned-up and my father never even mentioned it. I have now taken-up my "pledge " again; I blame Thailand. It was my habit to have a Singha at Panorama before going to dinner with P. One of the reasons for this was that he habitually spends an hour preparing for the event and I lose patience. That one Singha was a joy; I would watch the cute guys saunter past on the way to their go go bars, often waving and sharing suggestive pleasantries. I would muse that, were I to attain Heaven, my preference would be to relive that hour or so through eternity....together with an evening with P in the offing. And then, age setting in, more and more I found that even one beer was having an effect on me and not a pleasant one; perhaps my eight year-self (not to mention my twenty year old one) was saying, "No mate; alcohol isn't for you." A glass of wine, an occasional cognac, a glass of beer here in the coolness of the UK; no problem. But not in Thailand where, thank heavens, I have other interests. bkkmfj2648 and jimmie50 2 Quote
