Today, we are restoring and renovating the temples in Angkor Wat. These are contrib…

First part was very short visit to Thailand reported already here : https://www.gayguides.com/forums/topic/38515-shortest-trip-ever-but-still-blood-pressure-rising-report/ First thing I did in the airport was to collect my luggage which arrived only day later and I instructed them to keep it there as I will be able to collect it on departure. Process went very smoothly and only when I was reunited with my goods clouds appeared on horizon : my 10.30 am flight to Phnom Penh did not appear anywhere on the screen. Upon visiting ThaiViet Jet counter I learned that it’s postponed till 17.30 so after brie…

Landed in PP with a connecting flight from BKK, at 18:55. Was out of the airport half an hour later. On site visa was $35. Opposite the exit there's a taxi counter. I asked for a price; he showed me an $18 ticket. I said it should be 10; he switched to a 12 ticket. [My hotel's offer was 15.] It took 30 minutes to arrive at hotel in city center.

From Pattaya Mail Hopping into Cambodia for a visa run is back in fashion. The Thai embassy in Phnom Penh can be skipped by using a good agent, several of which are found on Riverside, the tourist district technically known as Sisowath Quay. This avoids having to make a prior appointment at the embassy and risking failure, a far-from-unknown phenomenon it appears. Mr Keo Song, director of LMN Travel and Tours, said, “We can obtain 60 day tourist entry to Thailand promptly and cut down on the waiting period for non-immigrant visas.” It is no secret that the Cambodian immigration authority actually prefers agent usage. For those wanting a longer stay in Cambodi…

Entry qualifications are investment of at least US$100,000 and ownership of a real estate “project” which means some form of property deal. He said it was up to individuals to decide whether they want to wear masks outdoors. Hun Sen strongly encouraged Cambodians to get booster doses, saying about 6.4 million people still have not rec…

From Channel News Asia PHNOM PENH: Cambodia is powering up its new National Internet Gateway, a move activists say will allow the government to further silence the country's embattled opposition voices. UN rights experts warn the gateway, which will funnel all web traffic through a state-controlled entry point from Feb 16, will have a "devastating" effect on privacy and free speech. It is the latest move by authoritarian ruler Hun Sen to clamp down on dissent in a country that has arrested dozens for online posts in recent years, critics say. Internet gateways are the points on a network where a country connects to the worldwide web. Once fully op…

From the BBC The Angkor Empire spanned much of modern-day Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam (Credit: Richard Sharrocks/Getty Images) Angkor Wat attracts millions of visitors a year, but most know little of the intricate and vast water system that fed the empire's rise and demise. Every April during Khmer New Year celebrations, Sophy Peng, her four siblings and parents make the pilgrimage to Cambodia's most sacred mountain, Phnom Kulen. As the birthplace of the mighty Angkor Empire, fabled Kulen's gentle slopes hold a special place in the hearts of locals. During religious festivals, Cambodians flock to its peak to be blessed by the same waters…

From Khmer Times The Ministry of Culture will send a team to Thailand to check on an Angkor Wat-like temple being built in Buriram province. This comes after Cambodia requested Thailand to provide blueprints and information related to the construction of the temple. The ministry’s Culture Technique Departmen director Hab Touch told Khmer Times yesterday that representatives from each country have spoken to each other to ensure that the second Angkor Wat is not an exact copy. He said: “The Ministry will send archaeologists and temple architects to look over the construction.” “We are unsure of when we can go because of the Covid-19 pandemic and qua…

From Reuters /. BP PHNOM PENH: Cambodia has administered at least one coronavirus vaccine dose to half of its population, among the highest rates in Asia, official data showed on Wednesday, with vaccine diplomacy playing a key part in its success.
