So astronomers amuse themselves much as we do, by indulging their size fetish. And then laughing at it with a series of comically pedestrian names. It started with a succession of Large Telescopes made possible by actively controlled, segmented-mirror designs that broke through the limit imposed by single-mirror casting and flexure issues, such as the South African Large Telescope, the largest in the southern hemisphere with a hexagonal mirror array 11 meters across. Next came a series of Very Large Telescopes such as the VLT Array, "consisting of four Unit Telescopes with main mirrors of 8.2m diameter and four movable 1.8m diameter Auxiliary Telescopes. The telescopes …

2Cellos is the name that these two Bosian Cellists go by. If you haven't seen them before I think you will find this interesting. Not only are they good, and SEXY, but their take on some rock music only playing cellos is amazing. They have been a opening act for Elton John, appeared on Glee and now touring and headlining on their own. This first video really starts to take off at the 2 minute mark.

I just saw the movie and imho, it's the best movie I have seen in a long time and think both Bradley Cooper and Clint Eastwood will be serious contenders for Oscars! That it is based on a true story makes it all the more interesting.

Found on a blog about seventeenth- and eighteenth-century English and Irish furniture! At your Convenience Posted on April 1, 2012 by Jack Plane We largely tend to take the lavatory for granted nowadays, but in pre-Victorian times, the average person’s daily constitutional would have likely involved varying levels of discomfort, draughts and conspicuousness in the open landscape. If one had the means, one might have undertaken a potentially hazardous journey, through rows of artichokes and Brussels sprouts, to arrive at some form of latrine at the bottom of the garden; or perhaps enjoyed the relative, but still atmospheric opulence of a garderobe. Both types of conv…

.......And that would be lookin. Not to be confused with HBO's Looking - because this lookin does not need to be swallowing "Molly" to have fun and to figure things out......or does he......? ( J/K ) He might not leave redundant footprints on every thread here - BUT, when he does post, it means something special! Thanks lookin! Your earlier post here today was worthy of Carson, Rivers, Leno, Hall & O'brien - combined! I hope you're appreciated in your real life as much as you are in your cyber!

Ann Curry is officially parting ways with NBC, an NBC News source confirmed with The Huffington Post Tuesday. The veteran anchor announced Tuesday that she is ending her run as a full-time employee to become founder of a new media startup seeded by NBCUniversal, and will continue to report non-exclusively for NBC News. Curry's new role "allows her the freedom to report on any platform and on any network, including NBC News, as well as any online or 'over the top' channels," the press release stated. "This is about reaching for the edge of the future in journalism, which we know is undergoing an irrevocable transition," Curry said in the statement. "In today’s world of f…

The re-launch of Fashion Police premiered last night with a recap of the Golden Globes fashion hits and misses. The show was dedicated to Joan Rivers, but had a new look and a partially new cast. Kathy Griffin replaces Joan, and Brad Gorestky replaces Georgie.Boy... Kathy seemed a bit stiff and shell shocked.... She did Kathy but seemed to be holding back, or perhaps just testing the waters. I am sure she will grow into the position, and once she loosens up, I am sure things will be just fine.... The good is that starting next Monday, it is returning to its WEEKLY format. The original buzz was that it was only going to do Specials, following televised awards shows, …

I just saw the new TV show Empire. It was excellent. I love the characters and the theme. I like the fact they have a gay character. It will be interested to see how this plays out. But, with Terrence Howell as the lead, it is going to be a fun ride. And, with Lee Daniels as the director, wow, how much more do you need for the start of a great show?
