Theater, Movies, Art and Literature

It is dedicated to the Theater, Art and Literature crowd with a dose of music and movies!

  1. It surely has to be the most frivolous case for a law suit! in 1967 the great director Franco Zeffirelli auditioned 300 young actors to play Romeo and Juliet in the new movie version he was making to be released the following year. He wanted more realism than possible for a stage version and actors for the lead roles who were roughly the ages Shakespeare's play intended. He selected two who already had not only aspirations to become actors but considerable experience. Leonard Whiting had been spotted by a theatrical agent at the age of 12. For 15 months he was a regular member of the cast of Lional Bart's musical "Oliver" in London's West End. He then spent 15 months with…

Anyone other than me fed up with trying to strain and read characters’ phone texts to one another in films and TV series? Why are they without the courtesy of captions? It is, after all, dialogue and at times key to the plot, though not cinematic. Now there seems to be no end to backspacing and re-writing text passages. Why would I want to watch a fictional screen within my real screen for a depiction of a character vacillating over what to communicate? What a pain in the ass. (No I don’t have a VCR.)

Stallone plays a Mafia capo who just got out of prison and was sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he tries to set up a criminal organization. The first episode was fun and enjoyable and the trailer looks great. This is by the creator of Yellowstone which I absolutely love!

Well, I have to say, I was giddy to watch this. I grew up with George Jones and Tammy Wynette. Just loved them and saw them in person many times. George own a local steak house and we went there a lot and he was drunk a lot. But, wow, what a great singer. I loved his music and even though I am not a country fan anymore, I just loved each part of this show's first episode.

Maybe I have missed something, but I don’t recall seeing any threads about music (with the exception of the sound levels in the go go bars). As much as I value and enjoy musical arts, it seems to me that the older I get, less knowledgeable I am on the news and trends of this industry. Furthermore, I used to listen mainly to European and American music. This day and age I’m able to discover and savor music from all over the World. Today I would like to present you with a single from Japanese artist Ayumu Imazu, Sunshower:

So I'm a fan of just about everything Sherlock, though my favorite remains Jeremy Brett's. I hadn't got around to watching Enola Holmes but saw that the sequel was out and since it was just two movies instead of two series I settled in one bored night to watch. I think this is probably the worst Sherlock Holmes property I've ever seen. Thoroughly mediocre in every way. Milly Bobby Brown is meh and her talking to the camera is off-putting pretty much every time. Helena Bonham Carter has basically no lines, and Sherlock is a beefcake instead of a heroin addict. And of COURSE they have to blow their load in the 2nd one (honestly surprised they waited …

The show is entirely predictable young adult fair, basically CW but somehow worse VFX. Except... the star nails the role so perfectly you keep watching for the couple moments every episode she SHINES.

Leslie Jordan passed away after crashing his car into the side of a building, following a medical emergency. Best known for his roles as Beverly Leslie of Will & Grace and Brother Boy of Sordid Lives, he will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace and thank you for the wonderful moments that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.

From Thai PBS World “Royal Procession with the People” brings old tradition to life on screen Thailand and Korea share no borders and are 6 hours away by plane, yet everything Korean has become part of Thai life including music, food and TV series. The ties are further strengthened as trade and cultural exchanges grow and now the Thai public can also enjoy an art exhibition “imported” from South Korea at a Bangkok museum. Thailand’s Fine Arts Department and the National Museum of Korea are currently hosting an exhibition entitled: “A New Encounter : Immersive Gallery of Korean Art “ at the National Museum in Bangkok. The exhibition demonstrates how T…

  12. I am a BIG Anne Rice fan. When I was younger, I devoured her books. This is one of my favorites and they did a nice job at telling a story based on her characters. The gay scenes are nice and enjoyable. I hope they show more as the season progresses. I LOVE Jacob Anderson. He was Grey Worm in Game of Thrones and I think cast beautifully in this role. The show is sexy and sweet with some gory blood scenes.

His name may not be known to many outside the UK but he appeared in some of the best known movies and television series. A big man with obviously a huge heart judging from the messages from J. K. Rowling, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie and Dniel Radcliffe. Although best-known for his contributions to the Harry Potter movies as Rubeus Hagrid and to older generations in the TV series Blackadder, he was a multi-faceted actor. He appeared in two Bond movies, 'Ocean's 12', Derek Jarman's movie 'Carvaggio' to Falstaff in Kenneth Branagh's 'Henry V'. On learning of his death, J. K. Rowling said, "I'l never know anyone remotely like Robbie again. He was a complete one-off, and I was be…

When I was in Pattaya last July I popped into my usual book shop Canterbury Tales I was shocked at how busy it was, it's a second hand bookshop Ok the majority actually all the customers were over the age of 50 it seemed. But the question is do you still read books nowadays? All the book shop in Australia seems to have closed because this next generation aren't interested.

I grew up listening to Elvis and my mom loved him. She saw him in concert many times. I still remember the day he died. My mom cried all day, my sister and I was devastated, and the world almost stopped. I am looking so forward to this movie.

I heard about this movie and had to see it and am glad I did. I thought the whole movie was delightful. I did find the escort beautiful to look at and the dynamics between the two main characters were enjoyable. I think a total of three actors in the entire movie and most of it just two people in a hotel room and conversation. Both characters were developed really well.

I have watched the first two episodes and loved it. But, I am big Tolkien fan and have read all the books 10 times and seen all the movies at least 10 times. I just loved seeing this vision come to the screen (or my tv). Partner Track is an American legal drama streaming television series developed by Georgia Lee, based on Helen Wan's 2013 novel The Partner Track. I enjoyed the 10 episodes and watched until the end. I like the season finale. I hope they do a 2nd season. I love the sex Bradley Gibson. He played in one of the Power movies and in the recent Fire Island. He is just so fucking sexy!
