My experience is that most Thai gay boys tell me they are not into guys of their own country at all. They like Farang only. Do they lie about that? But why? They know I am not looking for a relationship and that I go from one guy to the next (a few I keep among visits). I mean to say: There is no reason why they can not be honest to me about their preferences. If they do not lie then it is a strange phenomenon. This must have meant that homosexuality did not exist really in Thailand before the arrival of gay Farang tourism. I mean the average gay in Thailand could find no-one he liked in 1900 AD. You believe them when they say this?

Doesn't that go for all? They do it for the money or the money they silently expect coming their way. Unless you are young yourself. Most moneyboys I talk to say they have as upper limit 60. So then that limit surely must apply for the non-moneyboys. If a 60+ guy picks up a 7-11 boy than that boy is 40, or - if he is around 20 - than he wants or expects money and you will not get him a second time if you did not pay the first time. Mark my words.

I forgot to tell that in case you wondered that boy has an agreed open relationship with his boyfriend: No he hasn't. When I asked "What will your boyfriend think", he said "I will not tell". So if even a boy who receives every month 40.000 baht from his boyfriend is not faithful, then no boy is around that age. In all of my trips to Pattaya I have stayed in Boyztown (Copa or Ambiance). I want a change, and plan to stay very close to Sunee. I see an extremely cheap hotel (20 EUR for a single night) there. It is called Marina Inn. I don't expect much luxery for this price. I do not need it. As long as the shower works decently and the bed is reasonable I am ok with it. Since it is so close to Sunee, I don't expect it is a problem taking a boy to your room? Any of you have experience with this hotel?

You are picky. I feel sexually attracted to about 80% of Thai twinks in the age group 18-25. But since I have to pay (in a gogo bar) for a boy, I want only the best of the best. So I pick a boy in my 10% category. But the others are also hot and good for me, but I have the idea I can get better for my money and so take a better one, from that bar or another one. But it doesn't mean I do not feel sexual attraction for many of the others. If money was not involved I would love to fuck 80% of them. What about you? Even if money was not involved you still will only like 5%??

Ok. I had put a smiley after my remark by the way. I was just wondering why so many raids are done if there are no legal consequences for the bar owners. They just pay the police I was told and then can continu their practice. They will not loose their license. If this all is true, than to the casual observer (read: me) it appears that these raids are only done to earn some extra income.

What is dumb in my questions? I also have a question which I am now afraid to ask because I am sure you will find it a dumb question and trolling. Take a question as "What is a Ladyboy?". Dumb people think this is a dumb question. Intelligent people who think a bit deeper can see the merit of this question. Is a guy who feels being male but just cross dresses a ladyboy? Is a guy who is transgender and gets full surgery (including a vagina) a ladyboy? Or should he be considered a lady? You see such a 'dumb' question as it may appear to the less intelligent, is maybe not dumb at all, but highly interesting. For me it is already interesting to read the different opinions because it also teaches me something. But enough about this.

That is how I also understand it. But why do many people then say "Pattaya is only gay for pay"? It implies then almost all gogo boys, beer bar boys, Gayromeo boys are heterosexuals. I find that hard to believe. Many of these are I think genuine gays. Yes money boys, but gays nonetheless. So people who call Pattaya "Gay for pay" are wrong in my opinion.

But we in the West see us gays as being born that way. It is not a choice. It is not that we choose being gay at age 20 and at age 35 we decide to be hetero and then switch back to gay at age 50 because of choice. Being gay is part of your biological make-up. In Thailand guys who feel sexually attracted to guys must also be part of the population for eons of time already. Or are Thais genetically so different from other humans that homosexuality does not occur there? Very unlikely. So how can the Thai language not have a word for a biological phenomenon that must have existed since the first humans appeared on earth?

Ok thanks. I was confused because it was implied the boys are really heterosexual and act only gay in exchange for money. I couldn't believe it, because in my (limited) experience I think most go go boys are sincerely gay. And of course undoubtedly some will be heterosexuals. But I think that are the exceptions.

So the police are only doing these raids for some extra income? Because if there are no legal consequences for the bar owners when they are caught, then what other reason can there be? The local government must know about this. So that government is also OK that the police can be bribed? National government also has no issue with it? It is just a fact of life and no-one cares? Seems to me the police is also not afraid THEY are caught. Because I am sure accepting bribes is officially a crime. But also goes without punishment. So technically Thailand police is a criminal organization? :-) I mean most members daily violating at least the anti-bribery law. Police officers can't have much self respect. They know they are criminals themselves.

I often read Thailand - and Pattaya in particular - is a gay paradise, but there is then always someone saying: "Yes it is, but it is gay for pay". What is meant with that? That the boys are almost all heterosexual and only go with men for the money? Or do they mean that while the boys are gay indeed (most of them) they only will go with you for money? That picking one up for free is as good as impossible? (Assuming the tourist is not 20, but say 40 or 50)? I just find it hard to believe most boys in gogo bars and beer bars and on Gayromeo are hetero's selling themselves. I am sure a few will be heterosexual. But the majority is gay, or not?

Can someone explain to me why if work permits are needed do bars employ these boys who do not have a permit? The bar owner is not afraid he will loose his licence? Or is it really so easy to bribe the police? Then still you take quite a risk. What if you encounter an officer who does not want to be bribed? Then you have two charges against you. Why take the risk? Bangkok is a big city. Many Thai gay boys who want to work in a bar. Why do they hire boys who do not have a permit? Taking into account the risks I outlined above?

Yes I see your point Newelaan. And you are right. But I just don't like crowded places. Of course it is in my long term interest it is crowded. I realize that. I like young twinks. Most Farang do. So if you are into these boys there is competition. Certainly if you want to off the boy of your first choice. Has happened to me often enough that I was too late in bar for my first choice. Also in high season I notice sometimes that some bars are quite empty with customers. I think it is not going so well lately with business. It does worry me. I think dating apps are to blame.

Low season is not too bad for going to Pattaya. Because far less competition from other gay Farang and there are still many hot boys on the dating apps. They don't all leave Pattaya. It also cuts the prizes. Besides I don't like it when Boyztown for example is very crowded (like 31 December 2014, it was extremely crowded). I like it when it is more quiet.
