Wow. That sounds fun. You have to take me to X-Boys when I'm in Pattaya again... Lol

I hate this.  The last several times that I have been there - there were perhaps 20 to 25 guys standing there on stage where only 3 or 4 were shirtless.  And then at the end of the night by closing time - the only remaining guys on the stage are the ones still with there shirts on - as ALL of the shirtless guys had already been offed.
I love BBB --> BUT, the last time I was there in December with fellow member, @spoon the music was truly unbearable - it was so loud I got a bit nauseated - the first time in life that loud music made me this way - I am sure that the decibels were WAY over the permitted limits.
Consequently, I now prefer X-Boys in Pattaya - as the music is played at a more reasonable level and the guys who work there are more willing to be nude and more sexual.  There is even the live fucking show where they fuck in the audience - even on your lap if you let them.....
This is still on my bucket list - to bring a group of fun guys over to Koh Larn to have a day or two of fun.

Since I am still fairly new here in Thailand as a recent retiree - I would like to share with you my first Thailand New Year's Eve period to get your feedback.
Part ONE - New House Blessing
On 29 December and 30 December - a gay couple (Thai + Lao) that I know bought a new flat in the Life City Park over in Bo Win in Rayong. They can be seen in the below first photo - the one in the green t-shirt making the peace sign and his partner inside the house standing up and pointing.
The monks were coming to the home early on the 30th so they asked me to sleep there on the 29th to guarantee my presence. I still don't have a car or motorcycle and we checked BOLT and its dependability on big distances like this during the crowded holiday period would not guarantee my arrival in time.

So, on the night of the 29th about 30 of their friends and family stopped by or slept there ( 16 people slept in the actual house as they also came from far away ). They finished the food preparation for the next day and we celebrated by eating some of it for dinner on the floor on floor mats. At my age, it takes me some effort to sit like that as my body is now more rigid than when I was young.
Are you able to sit and eat like them on the floor ??

The food was really good and I ate some things that I NEVER have eaten before. They even warned me to NOT use the hot sauce but I insisted on trying it anyway - and yes I sweated after eating it.

Morning came and the 5 monks arrived and they sat in the living room on the floor on special mats that were delivered from the local Buddhist temple. My friends had to move out of the living and dining room areas all of their furniture. Conveniently, as this is a new housing complex, the house immediately next to them is vacant so they used that patio to put all of their furniture. While the monks were praying and blessing inside the house the most important people of the 40 in attendance were busy preparing the monk's meals in special silver ornate metal bowls - also delivered ahead of time from the local Buddhist temple.

The part that most amazed me was the "opening of the third eye" - like right out of a science fiction film - as we don't give much attention to our individual third eyes in our Western world. So, the designated Buddha statue is given to the main primary monk where he makes this statue "operational" by opening up its third eye with a special Buddhist blessing. I believe that the third eye is like an antennae to our higher spiritual being (or creator). While the monk was performing this exercise, the hairs on my arm stood up as I found it so moving. I need to discover more about our dormant Western third eye.

Then the BIG event - the primary main monk got up on a chair above the main entrance of the house to paint / etch with a special golden pen a symbol that, according to my Thai friend, states that this house has been blessed and that evil is not welcome here. This process of etching and then placing seals on the etched insignia took quite a while and the gay couple had to stay on their knees for quite a while to support the chair that the monk was standing on to ensure his safety.

Lastly, the monks then went through each of the rooms sprinkling "holy" spiritual water ( it is probably sacrilegious to use the word holy to describe what I saw in the Buddhist religion ) and then they exited the house to sprinkle this religious water on each of us to bless us. They used a type of bamboo bundle of sticks to do it and I was told that the religious water is prepared back at the Buddhist temple.

This ends part one of my lead up to my Dec 2022 New Year's celebrations.
Part TWO - Condo holiday party etiquette
About a week ago the condo where I live solicited for donations to pay for a New Year's Day party for the staff (maintenance, security, gardeners, administration, etc.). What I found weird is that the notice was directed towards condo owners. So I felt excluded as I rent here. So I called the number and I spoke to the organizer and she told me - well we don't include renters - as our past experience is that renters don't want to make donations as they are not owners. I asked her if I could make a donation as I am made to feel VERY welcome here by all of the condo complex staff here. She was quite surprised that I even cared about the condo complex building staff - as she said that they even have difficulties in getting donations from the actual condo owners.

The condo staff offer a great service. For example, if I am having difficulties coming home from shopping they are right at the BOLT taxi to help me get into the elevator and up to my condo - you never have to ask them. If they see you coming for the elevator they hold the door open to make sure that you can enter. Two times that I needed maintenance in my condo - the maintenance team was at my condo within 1 to 2 hours after my request. Every day when I go in and out they are always smiling and saying hello.

We used to have this kind of concierge service in our large condo buildings in New York City in the 1970s and 1980s - before the ravages of self-service in the USA came and all of these types of normal services were either taken away as cost cutting measures or made to be very expensive for the select few who could afford them. Living here in a Jomtien condo building is a real treat - especially if you are a baby boomer who remembers the good old days.

Being in the holiday spirit, I decided to take a personal initiative where I would prepare and give each condo staff member a personal card from me saying how much I appreciated their professional service and as a new retiree here that they make me feel special, welcome, and belonging to a great condo complex. Firstly, I had to find money cards. These are easily found back in Europe and in the USA during the holiday season. I had great difficulties finding something equivalent. I traveled over to Pattaya city and walked around until in a Mr. DIY shop at the Pattaya Avenue complex I found ornate Chinese money cards ( as the Chinese New Year will arrive at the end of January ) that were perfect and super cheap. Then onto my home computer to write the perfect thank you message in English and then to translate it from English to Thai and then back from Thai back to English to see what could be tweaked to make sure that I deliver a correct and meaningful message. Then the printing of the messages in both English and Thai that would fit into the size of the small money card envelopes. Then the ironing of the baht bank notes that I collected so that they would feel crisp, clean, and new. And then the assembly of the complete package - illustrated in the below photo collage.


Before heading over to Bo Win for the above mentioned house blessing I went around lunch time downstairs to the main floor where the hive of activity is by our condo workers and I started to distribute them to everyone I could find. And when I could not find someone the staff were already calling them from their work duty station to come to the lobby to collect their holiday note gift. The smiles on their individual faces and kind words in their limited English - truly made my holiday the best!! In fact, one of the security guys - every time he sees me he taps his shirt pocket ( as he showed me that he stored my note in his pocket ) and says thank you - I will never forget you. Truly a blessing to live here as a new retiree.

Part THREE - New Year's Eve festivities

Around 10:30pm I headed over to the Jomtien Supertown Complex to join my 2 Thai friends at the massage shop where they work - they had already been drinking for quite a while and kept asking me when am I coming to join them. I wanted to start late as I was sure that I would suffer a hangover the next day. They were already dancing in front of their massage shop and I immediately joined in - and got about 20 minutes of dancing in.
We drank until 11:45pm when we headed over to Dongtan beach to watch the local fireworks and the massive launching of the flying lanterns - the sky was amazingly alit and the beach was full of happy people.

What was also amazing to note is that there was a dual firework show put on by Pattaya city with simultaneous fireworks on Koh Larn. From Dongtan beach we could see the fantastic (although distant) Koh Larn island fireworks. However, from Dongtan beach it was not possible to see the Pattaya city fireworks due to the curvature of the beach and Pratumnak hill. So we were truly immersed in 2 sets of fireworks and floating lanterns.

We hugged and kissed at the conclusion of the countdown and remained a little while to take in all of the amazing sights.

Then we walked back into the Jomtien Complex and walked through the main covered section which by now was heaving with a TON of people and there was a blockage in the main walkway as The Palace bar had constructed a dance floor that protruded out into the main walkway. You had to kind of climb over one of the edges of the dance floor to proceed to our destination, which was the Coqtale bar to say hello to our friend Paul and then to hopefully dance in the Double Shot bar.

At this end of the complex - near the Poseidon hotel/restaurant the complex had a reasonable noise level and we could truly talk with each other and hear each other. My fantasy to dance in the Double Shot bar was not going to happen as the Double Shot bar was kind of subdued in my opinion ( whereas, on other nights it was more energetic and there were some people dancing ) - so dancing was not on the menu tonight. The only dancing would be to return to the madness of The Palace and the loud noise so we just decided to remain at the Coqtale bar until closing time. Before I knew it, Paul (the bar manager) said to me, hey you need to go as we need to close the bar before the police come. I looked at my phone and it was already 2:30 in the morning. Wow!! the night flew by. So I said good by to everyone and then walked home - and woke up very late the next day with a hangover. Had I been able to dance - I am sure that by dancing I would have burned off some of the excess alcohol and I would have had less of a hangover.

Thanks to the primary 3 Thailand forums I have hired guides over the years that let it be known that their services are available.
What I found were 2 different types of situations:
- guide was ONLY for non sexual services - and I still enjoyed their company, knowledge sharing, tour guiding, etc.
   All of this was true with ONLY 1 exception where I encountered a non sex guide in Ho Chi Min (Saigon) city and when I finished with his good services I moved onto Phú Quốc island and he insisted to be my tour guide there as well.  I told him NO - that I prefer to hire local tour guides as it renders the tours to be more meaningful in my opinion if the guide is from the local place as they can offer more insights and historical facts (this guide had NEVER been to Phú Quốc).  Well, this guy would not take NO for an answer and after I arrived in Phú Quốc, he also arrived (me by air and him by bus/ferry).  I refused to meet him and let him know where I was.  So sad, as he was a really good guide in Saigon - but he became too possessive.  Anyway, I hired a local guide from Phú Quốc, and he was GREAT (also non sexual but gay) - and thanks to him I had one of the BEST seafood meals that I ever had in my life in a rural fishing village.
Two of these non-sexual gay tour guides made arrangements for me to find/have sex each evening - as they could arrange these encounters for me once I gave them my sexual program criteria.  These happened in Hong Kong and in Seoul.  In all counts, everything was perfect.
- guide offered both sexual and tour guide services.  In ALL cases these guides were great.  We would tour all day and then at night we would have sex in the hotel -OR- he/they would take me to the local bar/club where we would off someone together.  Their guide skills were excellent and in fact one was for a 7 day / 6 night tour all around northern Thailand where we drove around in their car.  Again, an excellent vacation that I will always remember.

not that lately but I was there several times during my 3 foray into Thailand in Oct and Nov plus had few reports from friends who are not contributing here.
Bar is busy and full most nights, not shockingly tall order considering it's such small space but still busy.
During day there's massage service in one of rooms upstairs , with at least one, later during day possibly more , guys offering service. 
As before it's by a mile friendliest bar of them all , because of both guys and performers attitude. Boys are as before circulating freely , soliciting drinks and tips ,   asking ' how are you ' , shaking hands, allowing hugs and it you are generous , discrete touch here and there. Refusal of tip or drink  is taken in good spirit but they may approach you again later on, with better chance after you soaked in the atmosphere , beer and drinks enhanced. If you offer them a drink  they may be quite clingy and adventurous and you may find your hand to be where you always dreamed to place.
Performers, usually 3 ladyboys  are entertaining but , unseen anywhere else , personable. During and after performance having chat with customers, asking where they are from etc and no , not asking ' do you have tip for me". So in short , whether you like guy on offer or not it's fun to be there.
In the washroom there's attendant who will help you with paper towel and massage f you for few seconds expecting green note in exchange but will not kick you if you economize.
There's no such thing there like fully dressed guys or some in jeans, all wear proper attire i.e. not much and toward end of day , after show one may see few on the stage wearing Adam's and Eve's  dress. There's big c...k show  with guys soliciting and occasionally some risker performance during show. 
You can count on 10-20 boys on any given night , including resident twink, Mas. Keep in mind he is twink in Tawan' s sense, not skeleton in urgent need to fortified meal.
Being muscle bar  one can't expect  guy being too young as  developing musculature , not to mention beer belly requires some time and effort.
As for quality it goes full spectrum  from work in progress, through  well developed and maintained to overbuilt and perhaps outright fat  and in need to finding day time job.
Some may even be close to applying for pension.  
Saying that I find at least half of them offable by me and other half I don't even look at,  were mostly seen by me as offed by others so really what does it mean attractive ? 
Go and see for yourself to assess that part. 
That doesn't differ from other bars as everywhere you will find guys you like and others you don't.
They may expect bit higher tips than everywhere else with exception of Jupiter or Moonlight but like everywhere it's between you and boy. One of their guys  I met in the soi after bar closed  declined to go LT for anything less than 4000 even if choice of catching somebody at that time was not high.
After bar closes some of guys may be drinking in the corner outside so one may try his luck there but you better be sure those are boys from Tawan to avoid embarrassment and possibly navy colored  eye.
So if you like young , fit and handsome you may do better in Jupiter or Moonlight, if you like body mass and in some cases steely muscles attached to bit older guys , all in funny and non nonsense environment , Tawan is still unrivalled IMNSHO. This is only bar when guy on the stage may come down just to shake your hand if recognizes you  and return to his duties. Of course all that friendliness caries price tag  as you will be solicited for tips somewhat more openly but as I said above , you won't be scorned or treated with face if you decline .
I wish  that such system existed in Moonlight , Jupiter and BBB , in fact all other bars , where guys would circulate freely instead hiding in the nooks and crannies glued to their phones and coming out only for their parades on the stage.
I'd venture to say  that some  may not like Tawan boys but still will like Tawan bar, after all no screeching ladyboys , screaming your girls and sourfaced farangs there.
More questions, ask  

or I'm not skillful enough to instigate proper action there. I know somebody who was there after me recently and his experience reflect yours. Or may be I'm just too old in their eyes, lol. No idea what doesn't work for me  but your comments makes me willing to try again when I will be in SR. Anyways  168 massage provided more I could digest.

These were GREAT daytime adventures that we had together.
They are witness to the fact that there is SO much to do, see, explore, and experience in Pattaya - Jomtien OUTSIDE of the nightlife scene.
Also, this is a GREAT response to OldDaddy's previous post when he questioned, "What do expat retirees who live in Jomtien do beside staring at the beach from their condo balcony". Implying that we would get bored.
I am now here 3 months and I can attest that there is always something to go and see and do, and there is little time to be bored.
And yes, I do also cherish my time sitting on my condo balcony staring at the vastness of the beautiful sea.

I had totally different experiences. Stayed at Men's a few times (years ago, before covid). Had 4 massages there that all ended very erotic including handjob and happy end. Also I remember an American boy staying in the resort who was new to the gay expierence in Asia. He was shocked when the massage boy in Men's started working his cock. Shocked because he didn't expect that to happen so fast and easy. But he liked it too. 
Maybe things have changed at Men's massage... 

Dear @12is12 thanks for the memories with all of these hot photos.  I am only 3 months into my new retirement life in Jomtien and that night out with you at Double Shot was my BEST night so far in the Jomtien Complex.  All the energy was right that night --> as the erotica was definitely injected into the Complex!!!
You forgot to mention that you also danced - so I was not the only farang dancing at Double Shot.  Dancing brings out the energy in us so that we don't have to feel geriatric with the guys constantly saying, "falang sit down - falang drink".  Our rebuttal that night was, "Farang / falang CAN dance - and dance we did!!"

Pattaya Koh Larn island trip report - November 2022

This is my trip report to Koh Larn from Pattaya. It is written for those who might want to venture over to this beautiful island for a day trip or to stay a couple of nights like we did. I travelled with 2 of my Thai friends, as it was one of their birthday’s, hence these chosen dates.
Why Koh Larn? Because you may want to get away from the hustle & bustle of busy Pattaya to stay at some truly beautiful beaches that have transparent blue turquoise clean water with nice white sand. As we know, most of Pattaya, and lesser so, Jomtien beaches have brownish water, consequently making it sometimes difficult to enjoy a true pleasant beach experience that Thailand is known for. Note, that Koh Larn is NOT at the level of beauty of Koh Samui or Phuket – but for only being 20 to 30 minutes away from Pattaya – it is a nice quick and easy substitute for them.
Day ONE - Monday 21 November 2022

We took a Grab taxi from Jomtien over to the Bali Hali Pier in Pattaya. At the pier, there are many offerings for private tours via speed boat (costing thousands of Thai baht) and also transport via speed boat for ฿150 baht per person one way. We opted for the speedboat transportation modality, which takes 20 minutes. Note that if you continue towards the pier you can buy a ฿30 baht one way fare on the ferry boat, which takes 40 to 45 minutes. Note ferry schedule below – there are 2 destinations available – Naban Port which faces Pattaya, and Tawaen Beach which faces west into the Gulf of Thailand.

The speedboat ride was quite enjoyable, as the sea was calm – consequently there were not many bumps. If you find that the sea is rough, then I would suggest that you instead take the ferry. Each of us wore a life vest – including all of the other passengers. After exiting the speedboat onto the floating pier, you will be almost immediately solicited for room rentals, taxis, and motorbike rentals. My 2 Thai friends had already reserved us a place in a 2 unit bungalow that they really liked (from previous trips) because it is isolated and private and still within the Naban village. We walked about 5 to 6 minutes south from the pier (as indicated in the below map) to where my 2 friends were greeted by a friendly Thai lady who acted as the broker for our 2 sleeping accommodations, which included 2 motorbikes (1 per unit). The price was ฿1,500 baht per unit and we always took 2 units – as I like to sleep alone.

This is our first night accommodation. Simple – but nice and very private with a rocky beach front – when the tide is up the balcony is on top of the water and when the tide is out the balcony overlooks the rocks. Nice places to sit on each single balcony with 2 chairs each with a small table, nearby tree with tons of shade and an outdoor table if needed. From the below photo, you can see that the rooms are modest but practical. There was good air-conditioning and normal bathroom with hot water for a shower. The best part was the view of the Pattaya city and Jomtien skylines. For some months now, I can see Koh Larn from where I live in Jomtien and now I can look back to where I live. I have to say that it is very impressive – more so from Koh Larn looking towards Pattaya/Jomtien – especially at night when the entire city is illuminated. Note, there was NO breakfast included in the above mentioned price.

We unpacked our bags and then headed out to lunch at one of the many roadside cafes on our way to our first beach destination at Hat Nuan beach – which is on the southern tip of Koh Larn. Beach was pleasant and nice, but was not my favorite because when you walk into the water, it quickly gets deep – as there is a drop-off in the sea floor. I prefer a gradual drop off where you can walk out far into the water before it gets deep. At the far end of this beach – towards the rocks – are a group of monkeys. Many tourists were feeding them. I did not attempt to get too close as I saw many Youtube videos where the monkeys will steal something from you (like your mobile phone) and run away. No thanks.

After a couple of hours at Hat Nuan beach, we then drove over to Samae Beach, which is on the western side of the island. The center of the island is dense green with large hills – so the ride from west to east and east to west are breathtaking – as the views from high up are stunning.

Note the following - The roads on Koh Larn are narrow and there are NO cars – only the occasional baht busses that shuttle passengers back and forth between the different beaches. Each way on the baht bus is ฿30 baht for each single ride. Consequently, since there are NO cars – it makes driving on Koh Larn very pleasant, as it is just motorbikes going about – and they tended to drive slowly without any chaos. This is truly a nice experience after the crazy chaos of motorbikes in Pattaya city.

Also, even though I have my official Thai motorbike driving license – I have not yet started to drive a motorbike in Thailand. I believe that driving one on Koh Larn will help me get over my fear to get started. Consequently, during this trip, I was the 2nd passenger on one of our 2 motorbikes. Going up some of the bigger hills puts a strain on the motorbike – so, if you plan to go 2 persons on a single bike – make sure that you get a motorbike strong enough. For sure, 2 falangs on a single motorbike might not make it up some of the steeper hills. In my case, we were always 1 falang and 1 Thai – and as we know, the Thais don’t weigh much.

Next stop, was Samae Beach. This beach I really liked. During this trip, we visited 5 beaches in total and Samae was tied for my favorite with another beach that we visited on day 2. Samae, has the type of white beach sand that I really like with the gradual decline in the seabed, that allows you to walk out quite far before having to start swimming. The water is a beautiful transparent turquoise color.

After almost arriving to sunset, we drove back to our room to freshen up for our Main Event – the birthday celebration of my Thai friend at the infamous Klom Klom restaurant / bar.

The Klom Klom restaurant / bar is truly an eclectic cool hippy type of place and was an excellent choice to celebrate my friend’s birthday. This was one of my most favorite places in Thailand – something that I would expect to find up in PAI, in northern Thailand. A jazz band was playing during our visit. The food and drinks were very good. The only negative is that the food came from another affiliated place that is across the street – which made the wait for our meal somewhat longer than normal. When I thought that the bill would come, instead the waiters and band played and sang happy birthday for my Thai friend – which was a nice surprise. Even the customers joined into sing. A weird jello birthday dish was served with a lit candle in it (?? Thai tradition ??).
To find this place – see below map – as it is about half way between Naban village and Tawaen Beach. Anybody who lives on Koh Larn knows about this place as it is super famous.

Back home for some more drinks on our balcony to enjoy the illuminated Pattaya skyline.

Day TWO – Tuesday 22 November 2022

We had to switch accommodation locations because one of our 2 bungalow rooms was rented out to another party (surprise snafu). So, we moved north of the main Naban village pier to ธนัชชา รีสอร์ท (Thanatcha Resort). Note from the map below, that this place is VERY close to the main ferry pier and if you remember from the above ferry schedule, the first ferry is at 6:30am bound for Pattaya. It starts blasting its horns for departure at 6:20am. So, I would avoid this place if you do not like to wake up early. Also, it is kind of run down and you can see that it has seen better days. It has a large wooden deck that is tastefully illuminated in the evening with an excellent view of the Pattaya city skyline. Breakfast is included. Price was the same as the previous accommodation, ฿1,500 baht per unit and we took 2 units. This place includes breakfast out on the terrace, which included a Thai kind of rice / chicken soup, toast and marmalades, and eggs sunny side up + coffee.

Our next destination was to go see the BIG giant Buddha up on Buddha hill. What is impressive about this place is that you have an incredible view of almost all of Koh Larn – especially looking down onto the tourist packed Tawaen beach. Furthermore, this is where the paragliders take off and land – it was truly breathtaking to watch all of them as there was at least a dozen of them up in the air above us.

Driving down into Tawaen Beach, the scene was overwhelming, as the beach was teeming with tourists mainly from India – it was loud and super crowded. I told the guys to continue onwards, and we found a great place to have lunch just before the next beach over, where Tong Lang Beach starts. It was much more quiet and tranquil. I believe that Tawaen Beach is extremely crowded because the main ferry from Pattaya also stops here.

Here is a photo of the tranquil and beautiful Tong Lang Beach, where we relaxed for a couple of hours. It was nice and pleasant – but was still not yet my most favorite beach spot.

Our next stop was Tiennara (Tien Beach). As I mentioned from day one this was also my most favorite beach.

But now after writing this report and reliving the fond memories, this beach is my number one favorite from this Koh Larn trip. Why?
It is a very BIG (long) beach with many variations within the beach, such as lush green canopy overgrowth where there were many places to stay shaded, eat, relax, etc. There are even secluded places to lodge and stay overnight here --> I definitely need to return to sleep in one of them. Have any of you slept in any rooms that are directly at Tien Beach? If so, please share with us the relevant contact information.

To arrive at this paradise, you first park your motorbikes and then walk on this elevated concrete pathway until you arrive onto Tiennara (Tien Beach). It feels different than the other beaches as you feel more isolated and more immersed into the nature with the white powdery beach sand.

Note that walking north (opposite way from which you entered) you will eventually find some red chair lounges. This is where we stayed, and the older owner/manager is most likely gay and one of his sexy younger workers appears to also be gay. He was quite flirty – another reason to return to this beach. On our way into this beach over the elevated concrete walkway, my 2 Thai friends acknowledged a group of fellow gay Thai individuals who were heading back – as they only came for the day. So, perhaps this is the beach more frequented by us gays ?

The sun was starting to set and it was time to drive back to our accommodation to freshen up and to head out to our last dinner on Koh Larn.

The chosen Thai restaurant is, ยกยอ-เกาะล้าน (Lifted Yo - Koh Larn)

which is located on the main road going south from the Naban village that follows the sea shoreline (see below map). It is a somtum type of Thai restaurant and the food was great. It received a 4.3 rating out of 5 maximum in Google.

After dinner, we made a quick stop at 7-Eleven (even on Koh Larn they seem to be almost everywhere) to grab some beers to enjoy our last view of our hotel sea deck illuminated Pattaya / Jomtien city skyline.

We had breakfast in the following morning at our 2nd day hotel and then off to return our motorbikes and join the crowd looking for speedboats back to Pattaya. Again, ฿150 baht per person one way. In about 22 minutes we were already back at the Bali Hali pier in Pattaya. We called a BOLT taxi to take us back to Jomtien.

Would I go back to Koh Larn? MOST definitely – I was truly enchanted with this place and I see that it will take several trips to discover all of the nooks and crannies on this wonderful island – truly an oasis in nature to get away from the craziness of Pattaya city.

What would I change?
1.) To have better control over the accommodations that were chosen – there are tons of them and some are truly amazing.
2.) To get over my anxiety to drive a motorbike in Thailand – as Koh Larn is definitely a tranquil place to overcome this fear.

In closing, I hope that you enjoyed my long trip report. I hope by sharing all of this information with all of you that it will encourage some of you to take advantage of this unique place in Pattaya.

Baggage service provider at Suvarnabhumi faces ultimatum
The company contracted to handle passenger baggage at Suvarnabhumi airport will be replaced if it does not improve the baggage reclaim service, which is currently causing delays for passengers.
Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob said yesterday (Thursday) that he has instructed the transport permanent secretary to instruct the company to solve the problem, failing that the Transport Ministry may revoke its contract.
The company is reported to be blaming the problem on shortage of equipment and manpower.
Saksayam claimed that Suvarnabhumi airport has already solved the problem of the infamously long queues in front of immigration checkpoints and that arriving passengers now spend an average of 15 minutes queueing for their passports to be checked, including about a minute in front of the immigration counter.
After having improved the immigration service, he said that arriving passengers now take an average of 40 minutes from disembarkation to go through immigration, reclaim their baggage, pass customs and leave the airport.

So sprint through the security, run to the Thai Air plane, walk of shame through cabin as my seat was in the last row and 10 minutes late we departed to arrive in Bangkok on the dot actually. Of course there was lady by conveyor belt with my name to inform me that luggage will arrive tomorrow and it was, quite liberating to go to the train station with tiny day pack.
In May I took first train of the day from Swampy, this time I managed still to catch last one from Siam to Sala Daeng, walked through still busy Thaniya to Raya. Front door was closed as expected since it was past midnight  but sign pointed to service elevator in the back. Although this will be my first post, I’ve lurked here for a few months and gotten a tonne of (hopefully) excellent tips from you all for my first trip to the LOS.  Hoping that my little trip report is both a good exercise to remember my trip by, but also might give back and help others live vicariously, as I did. 
Some context for the trip – I’m from Australia, and lucky enough to be able to travel occasionally for for work, now that our country has opened up again. As far as SEA, I’ve been to Vietnam 10 years ago, but never to Thailand. 
I booked my whole stay at one hotel - the SO/ Bangkok.  Firstly, it looks super nice online, and the number of nights adds up to the exact amount left in my work travel fund – convenient.  Next, it’s near Silom, and whilst not super convenient to the two places I needed to be for work during my stay, it was roughly between the two of them, and close to the MRT, if I get brave.
I had planned to go for a full 2-week stint, but just before I was due to depart, I’m forced to reschedule my departure date for a funeral. After that, the need to ‘get out’ and reset elsewhere is strong.  I am damn glad I’ve got a holiday booked...  
Although I do have travel insurance (to be worked out later after I come back), in the meantime, I worry about how the delayed departure is going to abuse my credit card – if anyone has similar worries in the future, FYI Singapore airlines let me change but charge me a fair bit to do so (the only remaining seat is then an ‘upgrade’ from business to business-flex, so I pay more for the same thing).  Turns out there’s little leniency for the sake of funerals.
On the other hand, my SO/ Bangkok stay was booked as non-refundable, and I expected this to be a completely dead loss, but after I call/email them, they kindly convert the 5 wasted nights into hotel credit (for food, drinks etc.), which I am really grateful for.  At least it’s something!  I figure I can safely drown my worries from the rooftop bar on that credit.
 
Day 0: getting there.
After a rough couple of weeks at home, an all-day couple of flights, I land just before 7pm local time.  Singapore airlines business class is as good as I’ve been told… the food and wine are all delicious.
I follow the very good advice from the forum and grab my bags, then head down to the lower level airport rail and get my local currency from the cheaper downstairs booth.
Go back upstairs and get a cab to my hotel.  The driver and I struggle to communicate, but it works out ok.  By the time I make it to the hotel and up to my room, it’s nearly 9.
The SO/ Bangkok common areas are beautiful and cool and comfy, and the rooms thankfully continue this (nothing worse than a hotel which blows all their money on a lobby then has dingy, crap rooms!).  The rooms are themed with ‘mystical elements’ (e.g. metal, water, wood) and I get assigned a wood room.  I’ve paid for the lowest level of ‘just a room’, but it’s easily as big as a suite in the average Aussie hotel – absolutely huge.  My city-view room also includes a view of the river.  The room itself is very nice – huge bathroom with both a bathtub and a rain shower; beautiful wooden floors and panelling throughout, and plenty of space – definitely enough space to spend over a week and not feel claustrophobic.  Complimentary (non-alcoholic) mini-bar, and a good chocolate and fruit platter shows up ~20 minutes after I get in.

I finally get a much-needed shower and then on to the apps.  At home it’s at least 1-2am (4 hour time difference), and I’ve been up since 5am, so I’m wondering if I have the stamina to do anything or have anyone over.  I am considering just going to bed when I get a message.  Do I want a massage and fun for 󠇍1500 baht?  Why even think about it? Yes, I do.  We’ll call him “7-Eleven”, because that’s the symbol he has tattooed on the back of his neck (I don’t bother to ask why…).

I booked a car with Mikepattaya. From my hotel in Silom to Jomtien Complex it was 1200 baht. Because I was curious I checked prices in the Bolt app just before the driver picked me up. I was shocked to see Bolt was so much more expensive than the taxi service of Mike Pattaya... Because most of the time Bolt is cheaper. See screenshot:

My last holiday in Thailand was in January / February 2020, just before covid19 hit. And now, after more than two years I am finally coming back! In my favourite city: Bangkok. It’s busy, smelly, humid and noisy. But somehow I like how vibrant it is. I’ve always been more a city-person than a beach-person.
I was thinking about all the good memories I have in Bangkok. The many nights I’ve spent in Soi Twilight. You couldn’t enter that alley for 5 meters without being groped, touched and seduced by bar staff, moneyboys and touts trying to lurk you into their club for a “big cock show”. It’s good that some of the bars and clubs from Twilight found a new home in Patpong 2. But in 2020 I felt Patpong 2 was by far not having that special vibe that Twilight had. And for sure, covid19 will not have done anything good to change it become better.
But let’s look at the bright side: Bangkok still has a lot to offer when it comes to boybars, erotic shows and sexy guys. And I’m about to go on a big adventure in the LOS again.

Part 19: Back to Bangkok
As I wrote earlier I had a few days break from bars and boys. It is 10 years ago that I visited Ayutthaya so I figured it would be nice to get there again. Found a really nice guesthouse, stayed there two night while during the day I was rediscovering some beautiful temples. 

The guesthouse is Baan Tye Wang. Anybody visiting Ayutthaya I strongly recommend this place. Modern nice rooms looking out on garden and river. The rooms have outdoor shower. The guesthouse is run by a very friendly lady who speaks enough English to arrange things and give some information.

Breakfast was simple, as to expect in place like this. Evening before you choose what breakfast you want and they make sure to make it for you. Standard fresh orange juice, coffee, tea, milk with cereal, toasted break with jam on top or your chosen breakfast. I choose for fresh fruits and a croissant. The guesthouse doesn't offer dinner, but the lady gave me good advice and arranged tuktuk and I had a lovely dinner. The same friendly tuktuk driver (its the fixed driver for this guesthouse, a couple - man and lady - who drive the tuktuk together) was driving me around Ayutthaya to see all the temples the next day also. 
Arranging an official taxi from Ayuttaha to Silom would have costs 1200 baht, but even in Ayutthaya the Bolt app is working very well... So eventually I only paid 800 baht for the drive to Bangkok. 
Earlier in my trip report hotel choices is Silom were discussed. There's a new hotel just opened recently: Ibis Styles Silom. And I decided to check in out for the next few days. Conveniently located on Silom Road, few minutes walk from Sala Daeng Skytrain station. Next to CP tower actually. So very good located to the main gay areas: soi4 is just on the opposite side of the road, and so are the entries to Patpong2 and the soi where Tawan is located. I asked to allocate me a room on the outside of the hotel as I had read online that rooms on the patio side of the hotel can have some noise pollution from the hotel patio and restaurant. 

The modern rooms are nice and colourful. And with the hotel still being brand new, everything is very clean and almost untouched and unused. Onl ylittle downside: like almost all modern hotels you need a keycard to access the elevator. So you will need to meet your (Grindr) boy outside or in the lobby to bring him up. I always like then option to just let hen come directly to your hotel room.

I expect no problems bringing boys back to my room actually. As this hotel hosts a monthly rooftop gay pool party every first Saturday of the month. So it must be a very gay friendly and welcoming place. 
Anyhow, I'm sure this was a good hotel choice for me for the coming nights on Bangkok... Let's see what adventures will happen this time. 

Part 18: More fun in Phuket... 
With no go go bars being re-opened (yet), to get some fun in Phuket you have to scroll the apps, venture to the massage shops or just flirt with boys you like in the nightlife. 
There are a few massage places catering for us kind of people in the Paradise Complex. Most of them situated in the middle Soi. The one directly in front of the hotel tower.

I couldn't find Spartacus. Google made me believe Spartacus was in the beginning of the Soi where Zag club is. But nothing open there. The first open establishment on the left side when you enter is Zag. On the right side there's another bar but is seems to be a normal bar. No gogo boys or anything exciting... So maybe they moved to another place that is unfindable, or your information is unfortunately not up to date.. 
After a few drinks on the terrace of G Club I was already feeling a bit tipsy. I was ready to call it a night and return alone to my hotel room. But on Grindr I got a message from a guy inviting me for a drink in Zag Club. It was a cute guy, with sexy body (see for yourself on picture below...). So it would be rude if me to say no.

Tasted everything on the menu and it was some time and money well spent. The guy is working in a 5 star resort in the North of the island. Well...he gave me a 5 star service too! 😁
