    Hey guys,

I have visited Bangkok a couple of times before, but was always with friends, and didn't get time to explore the boys of Bangkok.  This time, I will be traveling solo at at the end of July/beginning of August and have a few questions for everyone:

    1)  I am a big guy.  I know SE Asians can definitely make comments about my size, the Thais are way less abrasive than the Vietnamese and Cambodians.  I get it, and am usually not offended.  However, how will this play into getting dudes in Thailand?  Not really a problem.  I live here and I am huge and have never encountered a bad response.

    2)  Anyone have any tips/suggestions/itineraries for a first timer?  What are places I should go to?  How should I spread the night out?

    3)  Is it safe to bring guys back to room?  Can I?  Yes you can.  Of course a top class hotel may have some objection.  I would suggest that you use a hotel around Silom area.

    4)  Is there a language barrier?  This is easily overcome because most of the boys who work bars can speak enough to get by.

    5)  What are the going rates?  500 baht take off fee paid to the bar and 1000 to 1500 baht to the boy.  The higher end clubs and the boys there, such as Jupiter and Moonlight , want much more.  5000 baht is not uncommon. Unfortunately, their boys are a bit haughty to say the least

If I can help you more just let me know.

  2. I told them that I considered the address I had put on the form to be my HOME address.  The agent informed me that regardless of that, since I was applying in Bangkok I had to use a Bangkok address in the form.  So be it for bureaucracy.

  3. Traveled to the US Embassy to get a new passport,  All in preparation to extend my retirement visa.  It was not a bad experience but I wanted to alert you to something you may already know.  When you fill out the form to renew the passport you must put your Thailand address and not your home address in the US.  Every person in line to renew their passport had to fill out a new form and go back to the end of the line.

Well, your experience has not been mine. I visited the new area three times in the last 2 weeks and every time the bars had plenty of customers and tons of boys. Not sure what your definition of doing well is, but they meet that qualification for me.

I have not been in a month and perhaps I should try again.

for now a new generation of places have opened and for now are doing very well.

This statement is simply incorrect.  The are not doing that well and fewer boys on offer. My statement does not include Moonlight because I have never been there and not Jupiter because I have not been there in several years.

  6. This does not reflect how the government of Thailand has made it more difficult foreigners to get what is commonly referred to as a retirement visa which is valid for one year.  They talked the cowardly us embassy and others into no longer granting income affidavits.  Now we must have 800,000 Baht in a Thai bank and this is an onerous effort for many.  Also, treatment at Thai immigration can be shoddy and inconsistent.

Thailand is no longer a great retirement spot.

  7. I have known the living legend, Lucky, in person for quite a while.  I stick with my statement concerning Thai dicks.  Big ones are rare and uncommon.  Next time we get together here in BKK you can show me some.
