  1. "Well, it was no feat to find it, it took but a few minutes" Can you provide a link where I might start to hunt for the estate discussions? I am not asking you to reveal anything about what you read. Just the link is all I need - I am very familiar with estates and how they are administered. Having such a link would make matters clear to me. I have spent time looking for a link but nothing shows. This is odd because you said it took you "but a few minutes" to find the link or case. Could I be so dense that I cannot locate a link you said took you but a few minutes to find? I am not asking for a legal opinion - rather, just the link you used to find the frequent reports you said you saw. "But if the brothel move occurs soon and seamlessly after all, there seems to be no value in my revealing more," The move is not going seamlessly. There are contradictions and delays but the strangest part about the supposed move is the secrecy of an address for the new facility. Considering you are proficient with finding computer data, can you let me know the link you used to find the estate? I am not asking you for an opinion about the case, just the link so I can read the material for myself. Much obliged.
  2. When you wrote "Rod" and "Ed" I assume you meant Rodolfo and Edgarde of Lagoa. Where do you see or where can I find the justice reports in the "public domain"? I thought Edgarde's estate was already closed and that Rodolfo finally got Edgarde's two-thirds of Lagoa. Rodolfo claims to be a 100% owner of Lagoa. Is Edgards's estate still in probate? The lady housekeeper that Edgarde had for several years told the court that she was his lover (common law wife) (untrue) and got Edgarde's house and some cash. There was no will. Can it be that Edgarde's estate is still dragging on at least with regard to Lagoa and Rodolfo? Edgarde also owned part of Pointe 202 in Rio. I assume that Junior and his former Brazilian lawyer and part-time lover (Luis) got that settled with Edgarde's estate. My oh my. If my supposition about "Rod and Ed" is correct, it is no wonder Rodolfo is secretive about an address of the supposed replacement sauna. Maybe there is no replacement yet or ever will be. I hope I am wrong. As I wrote previously, I have seen many saunas come and go in Brazil. Hopefully, Lagoa will not be in that group of "former" saunas. Then, again, nothing lasts forever. I wonder if the delays in moving Lagoa to a new location and keeping the address secret might just be a smoke screen or charade to keep customers and garotos coming to the current Lagoa facility! If a court proceeding is still in process, the question remains, does Rodolfo have authority to move Lagoa to another location if he only owns one-third of Lagoa? Do you have a link to any justice reports that discuss Edgarde and Rodolfo? I realize the reports will be in Portuguese but that does not matter as I can read Portuguese without a problem. Much obliged.
  3. Do you know that Australia and the U.S. share the Global Entry system and allow you to use our GE system and us to use the Australian system? This saves a lot of time at immigration. If you have not tried it, you will like it.
  4. What you wrote makes sense - if the replacement sauna will be located in the Consolação area. However, I was told it would be located in Higienopolis, one block from the metro stop. Rodolfo refuses to give out the exact address of the new facility. Why the address is kept secret does not appear to make much sense. It seems rather childish to refuse to advise clients and garotos of the new address considering clients and garotos are the sole source of revenue to Rodolfo. We do not know that the new location will be Consolação as you wrote. It might be, however. Even my Brazilian friend, who I have known for years and who runs around occasionally with Rodolfo, does not know the location address for the replacement sauna even though he asked Rodolfo on various occasions. It seems childlike to keep clients and garotos guessing where the replacement facility will be located. I don't think Rodolfo's customers enjoy that kind of suspense. When Lagoa first opened, it had three equal partners. The first partner to die did not like Rodolfo so he left his one-third ownership interest to Edgarde which meant that Edgarde owned two-thirds of Lagoa and Rodolfo owned one-third after the death of the first partner. Then Edgarde died and left a mess with his estate. After much negotiating, Rodolfo ended up with Edgarde's two-thirds ownership and now owns one hundred percent of Lagoa. When there were three partners running Lagoa, operations went smoothly. When Edgarde owned two-thirds, Edgarde made the important decisions and the sauna ran well. Then Edgarde got sick and died. Now with Rodolfo being the sole owner, we often see disorganization and child like decisions about a replacement sauna. The nonsense of keeping the new address a secret (except to workman/contractors) appears to lack logic. I am wondering if there really will be a replacement sauna given all the contradictions to date plus the secret about the address of the new facility. Rodolfo told my friend that if the new address is disclosed, clients and garotos will go to the new facility and think the sauna is closed and he will lose money. That seems like a lame excuse. Even the date for opening the new facility keeps changing. If there are competent contractors setting up the new facility, it should not require changing the opening date from October to November and then to the middle of December. If the new facility is, in fact, located in the Consolação district (as you wrote), I suspect the sauna will not do as well as it does in its current location. If it is located in Higienopolis, it could do well. Over the years of my many visits to Brazil, I have seen countless saunas come and go. Some saunas seemed stable and were fun. Then, suddenly, without warning or a hint of any problem, they closed. Things happened that fast with the saunas I saw close. When will we know the actual opening date for the replacement sauna for Lagoa? When will we know its location address? Why is the address a secret? At one point, Rodolfo shared that the replacement sauna will be only one block from the Higienopólis-Mackenzie metro station. Now, it is anyone's guess.
  5. I think Rodolfo needs a new calendar. He keeps changing the opening date for his new replacement sauna for Lagoa. First Rodolfo said, "sometime in October" then he said various dates in November. He recently told tomcal's friend that the sauna would open December 15th. I just had a phone call from a Brazilian friend who occasionally has dinner with Rodolfo. My friend went to Lagoa last night and was told by Rodolfo that the new sauna will be open in November! How hilarious with so many different dates. Either the contractors are dragging their feet or having trouble with construction of the new sauna or Rodolfo is having fun keeping his clients and the garotos guessing about the opening date for the replacement sauna. He does have an unusual sense of humor. One good thing is that the Lagoa sauna will not close until the new sauna opens, whichever date that might be. Whether the replacement sauna opens in October, November or December, it does not matter because the original Lagoa sauna is open for business and is doing quite well.
  6. While the Marriott is not comparable to the Fasano or Emiliano, it is in a decent area and it has nice accommodations with many nice restaurants nearby. You are allowed visitors if you desire. The hotel rates are not that high when you realize you are getting a good hotel across the street from the ocean and in a good area. A large portion of the hotel has been upgraded. If you have status with Marriott, you will most likely get one of the upgraded rooms. Try it, you might like it.
  7. I always like to learn. Can you give me an example of where I might find "thousands of airports" that are not airline serviced that would not have restaurant or snack facilities at least for employees. Much appreciated.
  8. The current location of Lagoa is, for those going there by Metro, a five block walk along some downward sloped streets. Sometimes walking to Lagoa from the Santa Cruz metro station involves dodging cars that want the right-of-way even against those walking in the cross-walk en route to Lagoa. However, the new location of the sauna is only one block from the Metro station and there is no downward sloped street to use. That is good news! For those not driving or going by Uber or by cab, you take the metro "yellow line" (Line number 4) and exit the Metro train and station at Higienopólis-Mackenzie - Higienopolis is a decent neighborhood. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_São_Paulo_Metro_stations Construction work is still being done on the new sauna. The estimated completion date keeps changing from "Sometime in October" until November 1. Rest assured, Rodolfo will not want to lose a single centavo caused by clients and garotos not being aware of the move and of its new location, thus not showing up at the new location. Be assured that Rodolfo will have ads printed and the website of Lagoa updated to reflect the current information when the date is finalized. In the meantime, the old location will not close until the new location is ready for use.
  9. What an interesting and informative thread. This thread supports a general consensus that making off-line friends with people you "meet" on-line can turn into something vicious or at a minimum, regrettable. Obviously, all meetings with on-line friends do not go off track as exampled in this thread but many do. It appears that a website forum is as good as any place to air old or perceived wounds and/or grievances. This, of course, assumes the grievances are not taken off line for revenge.
  10. I don't know when you were last at an airport. However, every airport in the U.S. and in most foreign countries, have shops and restaurants and countless places where "on-the-go snacks" can be purchased. I cannot recall when I last saw a vending machine at an airport except for machines that dispense small electronics (Best Buy) and cash from an ATM or a boarding pass for check in. Those airport shops and restaurants are usually busy selling just about anything from donuts to pizza, to ice cream and the like as well as drinks.
  11. Thanks for the link. I looked up my school and found it did not rank high on the world chart. This, despite the university being famous and highly regarded in certain areas of education. How surprising (and disappointing) to see my school rank so low. A lesser known university in a small city in Germany (where my relatives live) ranked higher than my alma mater. My alma mater had two former presidents as students. The current annual tuition is more than fifty thousand dollars at my alma mater. Live and learn (and then learn some more). Brazil - keep up the good work.
  12. Brazil Climbs to 7th Position in Number of Highly-Ranked International Universities The University of São Paulo (USP) is the champion in Latin America, but the editor of the list points out that issues in funding education and "hostility" from Bolsonaro's government may have negative effects on higher education. By Richard Mann - September 12, 2019 RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Brazil overtook Italy and Spain and rose from 9th to 7th place among countries with the most institutions ranked among the best universities in the world by the British magazine Times Higher Education (THE), one of the most influential in the evaluation of higher education in the world. The United States tops the country list with 172, while Brazil has 46 such institutions. The best-placed - also the leader in Latin America - is the University of São Paulo (USP).
  13. Nothing sexual - if interesting only in sexual material, ignore this thread. If curious about what is only 65 miles from Sao Paulo but prohibited for tourism, this documental is quite amazing - By the way, the video starts off saying Australia but that is only where the producers of the show are located. They traveled to Brazil to make this documentary:
  14. Apparently, Rodolfo or circumstances changed the opening date for his new facility. Based on what tomcal reports, it appears the new facility will not be finished as soon as Rodolfo was told ("sometime in October"). I have a Brazilian friend who lives in Sao Paulo who I have known for many years. He knows Rodolfo well. They run around on occasion hunting for garotos. My friend contacts me on whatsapp often a couple times each week. My above referenced friend told me that Rodolfo said the sauna would move to its new location "sometime in October" Based on what Rodolfo told tomcal, something delayed the sauna move a day or so. Does it really matter whether the sauna gets moved "sometime in October" or November 1 (one day difference)? The sauna is not going to be closed. Only the location will change from where it is to where it will be moved. Rodolfo loves money just as much as he loves garotos. If customers and garotos do not know when and where the new facility will be moved, that means customers and garotos will not go to the new facility to give money to Rodolfo for entrance and other costs. No, have no fear, the sauna will open either sometime in October or November 1, as tomcal stated.

Nothing is certain but death and taxes The phrase nothing is certain but death and taxes means that everything in life is uncertain. The only things that you can be sure of are: 1. You will die. 2. You will have to pay taxes. This saying comes from the letters of Benjamin Franklin where he stated:
  16. A mechanic for American Airlines intentionally disabled safety features on an aircraft about to take off - When caught, the mechanic gave some lame excuse about why he intentionally disabled critical features on the aircraft. The aircraft could have crashed with the features disabled. There were 150 people on board as the aircraft headed toward the runway for take off. Below is a link to the latest information about the nut who could have caused the death of innocent people. https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/06/us/florida-american-airlines-mechanic-faces-sabotage-charge/index.html Although I prefer United Airlines, I often use American Airlines for my Brazil flights.

  19. I thought about the possibility that the number 11, that shows on the man's coat, was the contestant number he was. However, reading through the article, that number does not signify his winning order. Moreover, in reading the article, the man's photo is presented along with the description of the winner being 90-years old. There is not enough information available in the article to know for sure what the number signifies.
  20. Did you see who came in number 11 spot? A 90 years old man who looks better than the one who won the contest: One of his competitors was 90-year-old Evilazio Barroso Torres
  21. Ist er jung? Don't forget, anyone age 60 or more gets special treatment in Brazil. No more waiting in regular lines in stores and no more paying to ride on city buses and/or metro. Anyone 60 or older also gets early boarding on departing aircraft even if the older person does not have status with the airline. Such a deal - Of course there are many disadvantages of being old. Death is at the top of that list.
  22. The Rio Times Survey Shows Disapproval of Bolsonaro is Increasing and Affecting His Voter Base Those who said the president has been doing more than they expected have dropped from 14 percent to 12 percent compared to the previous poll. Those who say he has done less than expected have gone from 51 percent to 55 percent, the study reported. By Richard Mann - September 2, 2019 RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The Datafolha poll published on Monday, September 2nd, shows a decline in support for Bolsonaro in sectors of his constituency that supported him in his election campaign. The index of highly educated voters ranking the president's administration as poor or extremely poor has increased significantly. In April, this group totaled 35 percent. Then, in July, it oscillated slightly to 36 percent. In this survey, however, it reached the 43 percent mark, according to the 'Painel' column in the Folha de S.Paulo newspaper.
