I requested that a separate subforum be set up for Mexico and was told that no one has posted in the Cuba subforum that was created. So I guess the answer is no. Do you think Mexico merits its own subforum?

It seems that one or two people had a bad experience with someone getting contact information and then harassing people. That certainly is behavior that needs to be condemned. But when those people then accuse newcomers of having the same intent, or accusing newcomers of being those people, it's problematic. The paranoia then takes over, and this forum becomes toxic.

Thank you for confirming. I've been accused by the three trolls mentioned here of being someone else. I have never been to Brazil and have no intention of going to Brazil, so I don't really care about GP contacts (I didn't even know what I GP was until I started reading this forum). I think the accusations that are being made against me are slanderous and need to be stopped. I have been contributing to the Thailand forum because there were questions asked that I knew the answers to (question about a hotel I've used for years). Totally get it. So for those asking the difference between the two, I think that's pretty much it. Furama Silom is on Silom, for me easier to get to. Sathorn is located on a soi and you have to walk through several sois (with no sidewalks) to get there - not as convenient if you want to get to your hotel quickly, but you can also experience life on the sois off the main streets better. Sathorn is a newer hotel, Silom is older but renovated. In the end, both are good bets and no problems with visitors in either.

Personally, I don't think you'd want to go there during the day either. Maybe I'm biased, because I stayed in Poblado and it was so nice there - el centro was very gritty and noisy and generally unpleasant. The exception for me is that you'd want to go to Plaza Botero. I was not really a fan of Botero paintings, but the sculptures are something worth seeing. The area is gritty and the plaza is filled with homeless and addicts. There was a heavy police presence. I recommend going with a local. Based on your posts from the DR, I don't think any of the guys you might find in this area would really appeal to you. It's not worth the risk. If you pick someone up there, where would you take them? I say stick to Grindr, where you seem to have better luck, but as I said in another post, be careful there. Ask for multiple photos and if you still are not convinced do a video call. Plan to meet in a public place if you haven't met them before.

I've stayed at both, and can understand why you like Sathorn better. It is a nicer hotel (I think it's newer). But for me, it was not as convenient as Silom. I've been staying at Furama Silom for years. I love it. It used to be the Tower Inn. No problem bringing guests up to your room - the reception is towards the back of the lobby - you enter right up to the elevators. They redid the rooms and they're really nice. Used to have very loud air-con. Nice pool on the roof and a bar, also great breakfasts. Last time I was there was about 2018. It may have changed since then, but I really enjoyed my stay then. Close to BTS station as well. I used to use the Malaysia Hotel with taxi drivers to get to Babylon since I wasn't sure if they'd understand Babylon. Never been there though, but it seems a bit out of the way.

I'm new here and reading through some old forums. Looks like your question never got answered. Cine Lido isn't really in a bad part of town - it's a commercial district that closes up around 6 p.m., around the time the theater opens. Action at Cine Lido starts when they open and peters out by 7:30, so if you go during those times, when you leave, it's not that late, but it is deserted. If you go, I'd suggest first checking it out while it's still light out so that you can plan the best route for you to return to your hotel or Airbnb. I've never had any problems, but the last time I went (2019) when I was leaving and heading back towards El Conde, an aggressive woman approached me. I'm older now with gray hair and I guess look more like the type of older American man who goes there for pussy. She would not relent and was reaching out and touching me until finally I had to shout at her in Spanish not to touch me and to leave me alone. The same thing happened to me another night when I was walking through the park in front of the cathedral. I guess I had the look - again, I had to shout in Spanish (in a very crowded area) for her to leave me alone. I've been to the DR about 4 times and have been to Cine Lido every time and never had any problem other than the recent trip with aggressive female sex workers. If you go, of course, be smart - leave your phone and wallet in your room and only bring enough money for the entrance and maybe a snack or bottle of water afterwards.
