From what I saw last June and also from what I can read these days on a thai webboard, it seems there are less boys now than before. Rain is probably one of the reasons along with security concerns for the customers and police checks. It is really a hit and miss place : you could come at 10 pm and see vey few boys, and come back half an hour later and see the area bustling with cuties. In this case, do not hesitate too long before picking the one whom you fancy, he will probably have disappeared on your next round. Although not well advertised, this bar has opened many weeks ago. It is a gogo bar where I found a nice atmosphere and some interesting lads, but not very different from your average Pattayaland boy bar.

This is exactly what I look for - and find - when I go to a massage place. There are 10 or so of them in Pattaya and Jomtien, I have tried only Royal House in Day & Night area and was quite pleased with the experience.

So I guess we won't see you there again ?

Good information GB, thank you. From what I understand from reading the thai boards, it seems there are not as many boys as before now in the Wat Saranrom area, because of a heavy police presence. There are still boys however, not only in the Park but also in the whole area (Defence Ministery, Interior Ministery, in front of Wat Pho) ; the place being quite large, it is strongly advised to use a taxi for cruising the place. Another advice would be to bring your own gel and condoms because the boys do not carry them any more for fear of being arrested (this could be regarded as a proof that they sell themselves).

From a thread on a thai messageboard, a visitor said there is (was ?) a lot of groping, fondling and chak wao going on in this bar, just like in the other one ; can you confirm this ? (and could we assume that, if the bar was raided, it could be because of the very detailed report which was given on the thai webboard ?) From your descriptions, the bar is located in the small soi facing the La Cage bar, isn't it ? This soi was not long ago known as an open air market for buying Ya baa, and some advised not to go there at night. I just hope things have improved since then ??? You guess that I am now very far from Sunee Plaza and can only rely on your nice reports for keeping updated ... The fact that it is a thai webboard is exactly the reason why I did not gave the link in my first post (which was an unpretentious and very short excerpt of what I had read on the TM board). As for giving a complete translation, sorry I have neither the time nor the ability to do so. I would prefer to give interesting first-hand reports like yours or Pete's one above but I am now far from Thailand and probably for a longer time than I would like.

There is a very long thread about the Saranrom boys going on now on the TG messageboard, with one of the posters seeming to be a regular of the place (which in fact is not the park itself, but the road along it). What he says roughly confirms what GB wrote ; he gives many pieces of advice which could be of interest. At first he says that there are three very different periods in the evening : from 8 pm to 9.30 pm, the boys are mostly students and there are not a lot, but they are cute and it is the most secure time to go. There is some police presence after this time and then from 10.30 pm to 1 am, the regulars come in numbers (especially on Fridays and Sundays) including some rough ones ; there are a lot of car-driving cruisers too and you find all kinds of boys. After 1.30 am, fewer people and lower prices. Another advice is to choose boys who are alone rather than those who stay in a group. Third advice is avoiding gold and mobile phones - but this is a common precaution everytime you go with hustlers, especially in Thailand. In the fourth place, and most important : be fully aware that you are mostly dealing with boys who have few education, so don't be selfish and inconsiderate, and never go into an argument about the price (which should be 500/700 THB). Has anyone dropped by there since this thread began ?

If this is your first trip to Thailand, it will not be the last one for sure. To avoid the hassle of finding thai bahts on arrival, do not forget to put three ou four thousands baht aside for your next trip ...

In Bangkok Rembrandt is in soi 18 so you could find from the Dreaded Ned map what is close to your place. You also will be not too far from the Skytrain from where you will be able to go to the Silom gay area in no time. Dreaded Ned"s Sukhumwit map In Chiang Saen you will be much too far from Chiang Rai to go there ; your hotel is in fact in Mae Chan (not Chiang Saen) in the middle of nowhere. In Phuket most gay venues are located in Patong Beach which is about 15 km south of Surin Beach : very difficult to go there and come back at night. In Phitsanuloke there are a lot of gays in the disco inside the Topland Hotel you could take your chance. In Chiang Mai you will have to walk for ten or fifteen minutes to go to the Night Bazaar beer bars which are a nice place to hang around ; gogo bars are further and you would need a taxi -always a problem in Chiang Mai)

Should we regard the bar in Montys as a self-contained boy bar or is it more or less reserved to people staying in the Guesthouse (sorry if this is a stupid question but I really wonder)

In Sunee, the Paradise Inn gets good recomendations too including from people who could afford a muche more expensive place. It is really close to the action and they even have a beer bar facing the hotel entrance (although you perhaps would not be pleased beeing seen inside this bar ..) Some "straight" hotels are located along Soi Yensabai such as Koenig Mansion or White Rose Hotel ; the former seems to get very good reviews too.

Thank you for worrying about me. Nevertheless I never met this guy except for two messages on the internet and he is much more than 14 y.o anyway. If he is now in Pattaya this would be another great scoop from you, could you tell us what bar ?
