  1. Obviously you do not read carefully what I write so I prefer to stop my messages in this thread for now.
  2. Sorry if you felt offended, off course I did not think of people like you when writing my message. Nevertheless there are too many people in Pattaya and elsewhere who have a great life from illegal money when you and me have to work hard, pay a lot without even being rich (far from it AFAIAC)
  3. People who carry large sums of cash with them are generally people who have got it from unlawful activities or from business they have illegally not paid taxes on. Do not ask me to pity them if they have to lose this money to thieves. Like thai say : som nam na ...

    News Flash

If this is confirmed, could it mean the beginning of a new gay district in Soi Bua Khao ? Some years ago a bar had try to open in one of the neighbouring Sois (this was the Picasso Bar) but they never could take off. There were also a lot of karaoke bars which seemd to have cute waiters but most are now closed and left place to new buildings.
  5. I don't think you paid the 500 bahts (I did not pay either) because this is an airport tax and not a departure tax. By the way the bar immediately facing the Wang Come Hotel is Regency ; Lobo Boys Bar is located a little further north when you go towards the clock Tower, in a small place right of the street among other girl bars.
  6. Having gone with my B/F to about the same places and also with a (hired) car, I second every word you wrote including the nice comments about the Chiang Rai gay bars. Thank you for this complete report which brought some nice times back to my memory. One of the best-kept secrets in this region and in whole Thailand is the Phayao Province (just south of Chiang Rai). Not that my B/F comes from there (he is a proud Phrae citizen) but I found the town along its lake a great place to stay, with especially some of the most delicious thai food I ever found in Thailand.

    Karaoke

Sure this is a good time to have... and some boys from the staff in the karaoke will be more than happy to join the party if you invite them (and as they generally are very cute, who knows what may happen ...)
  8. Thank you for the update about Saphan Khway, my second home away from home ... I am happy K-2 is open now, it was closed two months ago ; is it a karaoke place ? When I was there in July (on the famous two days in a row when everything was closed), a new place was going to open on the corner facing both Staxx (or is it Heaven ?) and Waterloo, this looked like a gay restaurant / karaoke and was named "The Swan", was it open ?

    Hatyai

As I am to lazy to write a new report, I copy what I posted in the Sawatdee Forum one month ago. I also sent some information to the Thaiboy.net guide ... I went to Hat Yai with my B/F last month and thought some of you could be interested in an update. We left Bangkok on an Air Asia flight - one hour late, but this seems to be quite frequent with this company. We staid in the Florida Hotel which is a 15 minute walk from the town center but right in the south of town where gay bars are located. Most hotels in Hat Yai are very good value, and Florida is one of them ; for 550 THB you have a spotless room with a view and all the basic amenities. This hotel has massage room and a coffee shop with girls, and is quiet at night. After seeing that Banana Pub was definitely closed, we entered Buddy Pub on Thanon Sriphunawat (this bar is more or less facing Hat Yai Meridian Hotel which is easy to spot on the map that you will get free from the Tourist Office). Like most Hat Yai bars, Buddy Pub claims to be a gogo bar but is mostly a host bar where the boys are fully dressed and sit in front of the customers (like in My Way or in Saphan Khway bars). They will have a short gogo show only if there are enough customers. Sorry about this but the boys in Buddy Bar were absolutely NOT to my taste : on the older side, white-skinned and butcher-type. The next bar was much better : it is called G-Men Pub and is about 200 meters far from Buddy along Thai Arkan Road (south of Sriphunawat). They have a very nice atmosphere and many types of boys. We finished offing two of them (a 19 y/o Udon Thani guy and a 22 y/o local boy) for a great time in the local disco (Sutus Disco as they call it). Nothing more as my B/F is not into group sex. In Hat Yai the tip is included in the "off'" fee (1000 THB for one boy) but you can of course give more. G-Men provides massage too. We discovered another bar almost next door to G-Men : T.Tong karaoke was much quieter with only three boys but I guess it should be more lively on Friday and Saturday. Going further on Thai Arkan and turning on your right after the small bridge, you enter a sleazy district with markets, stray dogs and many girlie bars ; among them on Channiwate soi 2 there is a boy bar called Studio 54 ; I entered only to see a group of boys and girls partying and left, but I remember going there three years ago and it was a quite lively host bar. Besides boy bars, Hat Yai is a pleasant place to stay, mainly for shopping and eating. We then went to Songkhla which is the capital city of the province but much smaller than Hat Yai. No gay place at all but a great beach with hardly a farang to be seen. Songkhla has a lot of students so there is a lot of eye candy along the beach ; in the evening my B/F went back alone and met many local places where thai drink beer and listen to music : he said me that a farang could probably find a boy there but I could not check and we left the day after. All in all, the south is a pleasant place to go and I think that going there without bringing my own boy, I would not have staid alone ... With some luck and more time, I think I could even have found a local boy, one of these dark-skinned wide-smiling southern boys who for me are probably the cutest in Thailand.

    Host Bar

One of them was a karaoke and has closed many years ago. The other one was called Belami and had many nice boys ; it went down for some time but is again a good place to go now ; its new name is Melody. And you are right, one of the boy will approach you. At least it was like this last October. To go there, stop at the Sanam Pao BTS station, take the exit as if you wanted to go back to Victory Monument on the right side of Phahonyothin, walk for about 150 meters and you will se a 7/11, enter the soi on the right, you will find Melody on your left shortly after entering the soi. Not sure however that these bars are the "after-hours" places you wrote about

    Host Bar

I cannot think of any host bar in Bangkok where the boys would approach uninvited, be it in My Way or in the Saphan Khwai bars. In the Pattaya beer bars they are more likely to approach but only one or two, and they will rarely be the ones you would have preferred. It is part of the game to explain that you would like to sit with this one or this one, and when endly He comes, supposing you have been fancying about him for a long time, oh god this is a great time.....

    Host Bar

Host bars are generally closed-doors bars like in Bangkok (My Way, Turning Point, Charmming ...) or Hat Yai or some in Pattaya and Chiang Mai ; when there is no door, I would rather call them beer bars and you will find them in Sunee Plaza / Pattaya and near the Wall in Chiang Mai. Karaoke ("Ka-la-Ok") bars are more for thai gays or thai boys but most of the time farangs are welcome; but it could be boring if you go alone. The boys are generally "offable" as well. There are also mixed karaokes, that is karaoke for boys and girls, where the waiters are generally very cute (see along Soi Buakhao for example) but I never had the opportunity to ask them.
  14. The problem is that us non native english-speaking people simply DO NOT understand most of what he wants us to know ... And that is a pity because his post are generally informative and useful especially for those who are not in Thailand now ...
