  1. "The Men of Thailand" had seven editions from 1987 to 1999 and was really a must-have source of information ; last edition had three modules : one with general information and hotel listings, one with other venues listings and one with maps. The 8th edition should have been issued in 2001 but this was the time when Purachai was Interior Minister and launched a crack-down on many gay and straight venues, prompting the authors to cancel their project. The authors of the 7th edition were Eric Allyn and Samorn Chaiyana.
  2. Same here ! As for the options, I would add Hat Hai, Hua Hin and perhaps Chiang Rai (will check soon) somewhere between Chiang Mai / Phuket and Siem Riep.
  3. I feel sorry for the people who came there for escaping the heat and the noise in the area. However this should not have any effect on the street trade as the boys use(d) to stand outside of the park which is closed at night.
  4. Some massage places around there, for example IND Massage & Spa for Men - Ratanathibeth 28, Pilin Park, Bangkok, Thailandwhich is listed on the travelgaysia website : https://www.travelgayasia.com/venue/ind-massage-for-men/ Many places come and go, and I do not know of any website in english language which would give regularly updated information.
  5. I haven't gone to Chiang Rai since many months (years ?) but from a quick Street View search, I see that Regency Bar was still open in Januray 2017 - so it could still be now. This bar is located in downtown Chiang Rai, facing the north side of Wang Come Hotel ; there are many massage places on the same side soi, perhaps some boys hide there ? Every time I went there, I found the atmosphere to be quite good and welcoming. I also remember that there was a male massage service provided through The North Hotel (behind the old bus station), perhaps you could hang around the place just to have a look ; this hotel is well hidden in small sois but Google Maps and Street View are your friends.
  6. An update about the 69 Club reincarnation in Chiang Mai ; this is fresh fresh information from a thai webboard but I am very sorry not to be able to check it on the ground - and won't be in an immediate future. The new club is now called Maya ; location confirmed (unnamed soi leading to Chang Khan Residence from Prachasamphan Rd). Smaller rooms than before, no private shower but attractive (straight) boys. The place closes at 8 pm. However after 8 pm, you can choose your boy for immediate action or later meeting. Go to a lounge called 69, in front of Phetch Ngam Hotel, also known as Diamond Riverside ; this hotel faces the small soi (on its east end) where most gay bars are located - so the lounge should be very close to the RAM Bar. Unless of course there is another Phetch Ngam Hotel in Chiang Mai ... This looks like a treasure hunt - and I hope it will be for the nice forum reader who will kindly accept the mission to investigate on the spot. Anyone interested ?
  7. Also useful for treating many skin conditions including acne (which should interest some of our younger friends), killing molds, relieving some foot problems, and so on. Thank you for a great tip ...
  8. There are basically two ùain gay areas in Chiang Mai : Chang Phuak (north) and The Night Market area. I would stay in one of these two areas to avoid unnecessary trips at night, preferably in Chang Phuak which has less tourists, more reasonable prices and a quieter atmosphere. It is also easier to find transportation at night from the Night Market than from Chang Phuak, making the trip back home after bar-hopping much easier. But to each his own.
  9. I don't go very often to Chiang mai but last time I went, I found the shops in the Chiangmai Land area to be most appealing : many nice lads, large opening hours and reasonable prices. Unfortunately most (all ?) of them (333 M Club, 99 Club, His Club) are now closed. However I just read on a thai webboard that the 99 Club has relocated to a new place ; it is now named Hao Wan but the new location is not very clear yet. From what I understand, it should be about 1 km south of the night market in the area of Prachasamphan soi 2 or more probably on a small unnamed soi just south of it, but rather difficult to find. Boys are mostly thai yai which means all are straight and cute. Price 1200 for one hour including tip (extra money always welcomed). Opening hours not clear.
  10. Thanks for a very useful information From the unofficial Facebook page (thai language only), I gather that the place has just opened (November 1st ?). https://www.facebook.com/pages/%E0%B8%A3%E0%B9%89%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%A8%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%A5%E0%B8%9B%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%AD%E0%B8%B5%E0%B8%AA%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%99-%E0%B8%9E%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%97%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%B2%E0%B9%83%E0%B8%95%E0%B9%89%E0%B8%AA%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A23/1136638693136409 Their Facebook account can be found there : https://www.facebook.com/SinlapinEsarn/ There is a concert on the 17th with Monkhaen Kaenkhoon, one of my favorite lookthung singers (I hope posting the links above does not break any forum rule)
  11. Hundreds of them for Thailand too, but it's a thai for thai thing with à 99 % thai language ratio...except for the pictures of course ! Every town seems to have its gay group(s), other specialise in rent boys. Quite a few offer daring live videos (although not beyond jerking-off scenes) - but their life expectancy is usually very short. You can try https://www.facebook.com/Cute-Boys-Thailand-1434398320188412/ for a start although it seems to be mostly directed at the thai chinese lads. If you can write thai, a search with the proper entries will bring you hundreds of groups ; however, many are overrun with advertising. User beware : very addictive pastime !
  12. I spent two nights in Roi Et (thai for 101) some years ago, and found the place to be lively during daytime but very quiet after dark. I walked a lot around the lake in the middle of downtown Roi Et but could not see the slightest hint there could be boys available in the area. However many boys from the Roi Et province seem eager to sell services on Facebook, so that would be the way to go if I happened to go there again.
  13. I had asked them if they were still open. They just sent me a message on Facebook telling the bar is now closed.
  14. Thank you for the update about Ubon. Good news about the Black Beans karaoke which is still open, and about the neighbouring Krung Thong hotel which has been completely renovated and is now named Eco Inn.
  15. Oh Fluggie you did not mention BC Bar (the one mith mostly khmer guys, between Two Faces and the French restaurant). Was it closed ?
  16. I just reserved a stay in Chiang Mai next October and did not even think of going elsewhere than Mercure Chang Phuak. You have to walk a little to go to Adam's Apple but you will be almost next door to Free Guy, and a short walk to the Santitham area. Free shuttle will bring you to Night Bazar at night if you reserve it. Top's Supermarket is just round the corner. The standard of the place is good enough (pool, etc.) ... and I could go on and on. Why pay more on the pretext that you want a gay hotel. And all this for much less than 2000 THB through Agoda (current price for October : 1410 THB, which is a steal). NB. I do not have any Accor share in my portfolio (in fact I do not have any share at all ...)
  17. Rough Guide to Thailand (paper edition) gives "almost 400 m" Frommer's Guide (paper edition) gives "400 m" Travelfish.org online guide gives "442 metres long" Once again I would trust Christian on this one
  18. Not that I have been there myself but I just stumbled into the facebook account of the first gay bar in Myanmar - at least this is how they claim themselves. However it seems to be closed already, although their facebook account is still up. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Heaven-Bar-Yangon/523466211067827?sk=timeline
  19. Freedom is not a little pleasure, it is what makes every stay in Thailand an absolute joy...
  20. They had recently to change their website and you should now go to http://www.riverqueenhotel.com/ I think that bookings made from the riverqueenguesthouse.com website will not be taken into account. Very nice place with perfect location, welcoming owners and staff, and best quality/price ration in Siem Reap.
  21. For some of us, sitting at the beach is one of the main activities we indulge in during a stay in Pattaya. Not being in Thailand now, I would like to thank all of you for keeping us updated about what I dare label as essential information.

    Ubon Ratchathani

Three years ago there was this Black Beans karaoke/bar in downtown Ubon ( almost next door to Krung Thong Hotel), I do not know if it is still open.
  23. I read that Patong (where the picture above has been taken) has been among the most heavily hit areas in Phuket, I hope that the gay venues near Paradise Hotel did not suffer too much of this natural disaster ...
  24. The thai script on the sign should have an accent ( -้ ) on the first letter, making the sound falling instead of rising : so it should write ส้มตำ Not willing to be pedantic but mastering the tones correctly is a must when learning thai language
