  1. I recall a decent hotel on beach road that banned all guests in the late eighties. Their business dropped 70% in three weeks---the policy was dropped.
  2. I did not realize there was a message system on this site. Thanks for pointing it out. I almost missed out on a business opportunity with the son of my old friend from Sierra Leone, Dr. Koffi.
  3. John, I would just play Joe Tourist and take some bus tours around Bangkok, preferably on the weekend due to traffic. Consider going to Chang Mai if you find some personable lad to accompany you. Otherwise go to Pattaya. I would stay in Jomtien over Boyztown/Sunee but some would disagree. Do more exploring on your next trip. I suspect you will be back....
  4. How old are you? How well do you get around? Are you coming for sightseeing or the gay experience? The answers will affect my overall advice. No matter what, travel as lightly as possible. I easily did a two week visit with one roller suitcase that fit in the overhead bin of the airplane.
  5. I would take a girl over the initial "man". Hairy chests just do not do it for me....
  6. If you want to raise some people's blood pressure, go on to flyertalk.com and dare to suggest that the ME3 are being subsidized. There are a lot of very frequent flyers who are so mad at Delta, United, and American (in some cases for good reason) that they refuse to believe the subsidies exist.
  7. Firecat, I posted on another forum that exhaustion got the better of me on my first night in Bangkok and I went to bed alone. I got quiet a few catcalls on that
  8. I am in Pattaya now, and it is Wild West Girls as far as I saw.
  9. Vinapu, Allow me to join the others in thanking you for the bar and hotel reports. Next month will be my first trip to Thailand in many years---I had to give up overseas travel due to my mother's health. I taught English in Bangkok for a couple of years way back when. I am tempted to stay at the Tarntawan, but I think I will end up at the Malaysia. I will also be in Cambodia for few days to avoid Songkran---I have already done it in Phuket, Bangkok, and Pattaya. One day of water-throwing is plenty for me.
  10. Harriet Tubman and Rachel Carson are my choices.
  11. Yes, I know this is Pattaya, but it is also a Marriott. What about joiners? This hotel looks to be conveniently located in South Pattaya---have I read the map correctly?
