hola..... Fidel is gone ..... but i guess nothing will change in the near futur.   some will get richer.....some poorer and the majority will live like before....wait and dream of a better life

about renting a room, it is around 25cuc ou euros , for an appartement  35/45  depending of the size, the localisation .....

to change money, on the way from the airport to the city, i always stop at a big hotel to change money.  easy and quick.

the hotel " melia cohiba" can change, not at the reception, but there is a kind of a bank inside. or at hotel" capri". i never care about the rates. at a bank you'll have to wait for hours to get money, and i dont trust the ATM machines

an advice about the ID cards of the guys,  the first 6 letters is the birth date! so easy to know their age.

The US will attempt to reimpose its criminal classes on the Cubans....you know, Batista's henchmen. Casinos and mafiosi- the American way. I hope that the Cubans will continue to say, "Cuba si, Yankee no!"

If  the US was ever fortunate enough to elect a government of probity and intellect, it should beg Cuba to teach it how to run a National Health Service.

Better still it can ask Canada and England what not to do!

hola guys,   just back from Cuba!

i wasn't there for the boys, i have my specialfriend there, he stayed 3 weeks with me, no problem nowhere in the casas, in the restaurants, with police. some people asked him: is he your father? he said, no he is my boyfriend.

habana is not more same as before, so disapointing, all the nice guys are gone, at the bimbon corner, police is there everynight. ok the working boys are still around but need to be more carefull, play cat and mouse with the police. and far less customers, i would say: 1 customer for 50 boys. las vegas is still doing their business, but open very late, 11h30, and  transvestit show with lipsynch, is not my cup of tea. but for the cubans they are divas!  mycayito beach is hit and miss. same guys as for years, there also the nice ones are gone. and taxi is a ripoff, 30 $ to go there a few hours, thats crazy. the taximafia make a good job.  2 years ago i payed 3$ to go to center city, last year it was 5, and now 10!  and no discus possible, they piss you off. its crazy, you pay a taxi 20$ to go to a restaurant where you eat lobster for 8$.   no thanks!!!  i stayed most of the time in my area and walked to my favorite restaurant. i'll not more return to cuba!   back to thailand where everything is so easy!!

Cheap and easily available public transport, or hiring taxi/mocy/whatever at reasonable price as a second choice, is an important factor to me.

Poor public transport and high taxi prices is one reasons why I avoid Koh Samui and Phuket.

To a lesser extent Chiang Mai as well. My visits nowadays are in tow with friends who drive car, so I am not dependent on the expensive (20 Baht compared to 10 Baht in Pattaya or 7-8 Baht everywhere else in Thailand) songtheos (during daylight, however if I'm out at night and want to get home, they might charge anything from 100 Baht for a 5 km ride).

about the taxi rates, i speak about the normal taxis, or not taxi at all, just guys with a car who want make easy money, old ladas or americancar, no meter.  For cheaper taxi, 0,50 $  you can try the very very old americancars, collectif taxi, they go only one way, like the songtaws in thailand,   if you like to share the space with  10 cuban mamas.  if a clever guy would do motobike taxi, for a few $, he will get rich very soon.  .....or killed....   but i never saw a motobike in the island.
