  1. Michael, it's great to see your return as a Gay Thailand forum owner. All the best!
  2. I think you cannot really blame them, the concept of working a regular job and saving up for a holiday is quite alien to many if not most - and so is the concept of having a budget.
  3. Nice idea, at least 10 years too late though.
  4. GoldMember, that was a great series of reports again and I've enjoyed reading them very much. All the best to you living your regular life back at home, and I'm already looking forward to your next trip report, in 500 days or whenever it will happen...
  5. Knowing the Thais' love for books and libraries, I have no fear that the place will be overcrowded whenever I get around to visit.
  6. And that's just foreplay to getting sandwiched...
  7. Right, that looks like a hole in the wall restaurant, no idea why they call it street food pretty much in every report.
  8. They should offer a whitening / enlargement combo (buy one, get one free).
  9. I'd like to raise prices by the same percentage. That's a very handsome increase.
  10. I agree, some of their boys have approached me on Silom Road recently and I've also thought they are much cuter than average. Sooner or later I might succumb to their charms.
  11. That's a hilarious piece, steveboy, I loved reading it. Reminds me of all the desperate people who drink alcohol when they party, hoping that it will improve their performance. When they could and should enjoy themselves with home-filtered water instead.
  12. It is what it is, I had never heard or read about it, but that doesn't mean that nobody ever got in trouble. Heck, some people manage to get fined for carrying prescription drugs they bring along from their home country. I wasn't aware of that thread that is almost 7 years old. I note that it was started by someone (LMTU) who had a certain reputation and that nobody else corroborated to his story, so it might or might not be fictional.
  13. I've never heard or read any story about anyone getting in trouble thanks to buying or using Poppers in Thailand. That doesn't necessarily mean a lot, but considering how much I've read about people getting in trouble for all kinds other stuff, I'd tend to think the risk is quite limited.
  14. Sure, once I've sobered up from this month's varied and plentiful festivities...
  15. Indeed, sglad. Whenever I read something like "no foreigners can ever fully understand Thai society", I wonder if those who write that are under the illusion that they fully understand their own society.
  16. I'm sure there's a market. The very same 7/11 stores are already selling Black Label besides the cheap Thai "whiskeys" (rums), after all.
  17. I don't know how old you are, but maybe you qualified for the priority lane just because of your age? If you are (or looked, after the long flight) 70 or older.
  18. Personally, I wouldn't do that. If they want to drink with me, they are welcome to do that on their day off or after work - no reason to pay their bar an off fee for that kind of activity.
  19. I've asked the Dusit Thani if it would be possible to book a room for the last night they are open for business and trash it rock star style without them charging me for the damage. That would have been a dream come true, but unfortunately I never got a reply to my email.
  20. Yes, definitely sounds like an enjoyable trip, thanks for your reports which were enjoyable to read, too.
  21. Steveboy, I don't think he's doing that, being cautious is definitely a good idea. While the powers that be appear inept when they cannot even fix the prices of lottery tickets a mile from where they park their derrières, let's not forget that they've locked up quite some people who are far brighter than them.
  22. Has it been established that he's even real? And with that I don't mean that he might be virtual, as Bitcoin is, but rather fake, as a street market Rolex is. And just to add my two satoshi worth of personal opinion, the OP's friend must be barking mad if he wants to buy bitcoins right now. Having bought some when the price was much lower and holding on to them is another story, but at the current price level? Pure madness!
  23. I'm not so sure, reader. Given the choice between over the top self-censoring by the membership and not being able to access this site from within Thailand, I'd probably choose the latter (there are ways...) because I for one am interested in reading what people really think. Sure, there should be some red lines, and it could be argued that many contentious issues aren't relevant to this particular special-interest forum anyway, but still, members should be able to voice their opinion on happenings in Thailand even if it's at odds with that of Thailand's rulers of the day.
