Will Dean finally get a nod?

In many respects he would be a logical choice. Isn't he a Doctor? But most of the scuttlebutt seems to be that he is not in favor with the Obama team.

I'm not so sure he is the logical choice just because he is a doctor. This post has to be heavy on bipartisan political skills as well as knowledge of the medical care system. Dean doesn't get along with Republicans at all and he even has problems with many Democrats, especially since the primaries last year. I suspect he is not the practical choice for this one.

I tend to agree that being a doctor doesn't make you necessarily a good choice, and dean is perceived as partisan. Still, so was Hillary. I guess dean just doesn't have the clout the clintons have.

Either way, I'm glad Daschle is gone. Obama should have pulled the plug sooner.

I'm a big fan of Dean, would be kinda surprised if he's not popular among the Obama team, his DNC leadership made their election possible and he kinda started the internet grassroots they used so well...

But as Secretary of HHS... I agree he may be a bit to abrasive though is otherwise well suited, Vermont's healthcare system sounded pretty sound when he was Governor.

Daschel's a tool and his lobbying activities for healthcare should've disqualified him from the start.

he's earned something, he was pushing a 50 state push for the democrats when everyone else thought it was money badly spent. his scream at the end of the 2004 campaign didn't help his public profile (it was 2004, right?).

i'm not sure he can work with everyone, both in his party and repub, but again, he's earned something. i was surprised that he was offered nada.

newt was on greta last night, re geithner, said he deducted children's summer camp, since he hit this issue twice, i'm inclined to believe him. that surprised me.

but i think he is the right person for the job, he knows the system, has done work-outs, and follows history.

With Daschel out, will Dean finally get the job that should have been offered to him in the first place?

If he truly wants bi-partisanship Dean will be the last person he would choose. Politically he has pissed off too many people to make any headway with healthcare reform.
