Palm Springs Weekend Experience

Obviously I feel welcome enough to post here,
As for the others here, we all know that it was a Hooville event. We respect that this is a separate website, interested rightly in growing on its own merits, and that there is no need to bring Hooville matters over here. Just because Hooville is shut down doesn't mean that we have a right to use this site as our place to carry on Hooville business. A joke here and there, a thread for people who need to vent, those are all fine, but I respect that this site is its own, and I have no idea why someone would use his first post to ask about this event. He never showed any interest before.

We appreciate that we are recognized as an independent site. We do not seek to 'draft' off of other sites. We also have no desire to cede to other sites exclusivity on topics and types of content.

Oz and I have a laissez-faire philosophy regarding the forums as long as policies and a measure of propriety and civility are observed. They are provided for the use of members who are free to post whatever they wish, within forums policy and withhold whatever they wish.

This is the first time ever that I have seen the concept floated that 'sites hold exclusive rights' to topics of discussion. This blows directly in the face of a laissez-faire philosophy as well as being unenforceable. I find the concept very odd, very odd indeed.

I urge rejection of that premise and hope it is widely rejected. Bottom line: people should post topics of interest. No one or no site has 'rights' over topics. What a wacky idea!

Does this mean I can make posts about my star wars and harry potter fan fiction obsessions?

As long as you don't reveal any personal information about the characters.....

People should post what they want to post, not what some stranger thinks he has a right to know. In this case, I have no idea who JonThomas is, or why I should tell him about a private party, including the guest list.

The party was promulgated, and the invitations extended, on another website. It seems only natural to report on it at that website, and on my own volition, not that of some person who showed no interest in the event before it happened, nor contributed anything to it.

Just so it is clear, the party has now been reported on at Hooville, and you are free to read about it there.

Also, if one thinks that I am keeping anyone else from posting about it here, please know that I don't care whether any one posts their experiences here. It was just me reacting to someone who actually created a screenname to inquire about the event. He is obviously not new to these boards, so why go to that trouble to inquire? I wanted to wait until Hooville opened to report on it, and so I did.

Just so it is clear; Hooville is http://www.hooboy.com I took a look and did not see the post there. I did see it at Daddy's site. So, now we have it all cleared up. Thanks Lucky. Great report and sounds like you guys had a blast.

Oz, just so you know, I am the one who coined the term "Hooville" to describe Hooboy's forums, so I guess I can switch that term over to Daddy's Reviews if I choose, and I do.

Yes, we had a great time, and next year I would love to see you there. As you might remember, you have previously been invited.

I like you Lucky. You have a good sense of humor and I really appreciate that. Few have it but you for sure are one of them.

You are right. Hooville was coined for Hooboy's site. That site is gone. You can choose to called Daddy's forum Hooville, Hookerville, Shitsville Deejville or Luckyville. That doesn't change the fact that it is actually Daddy's forum and nothing to do with Hooboy or his site.

I like your logic and it works well for both of us. I think I'll choose to start calling this Hooville forum. I can switch that over if I choose as well. ^_^ I think I already have a ad ready to go for the Palm Springs gay mag. ^_^

Yes, thanks I do remember being invited 2 years ago. I was in LA and close to the event and really wanted to attend. Alas, this year, my invitation got lost in the mail. Those fucking postal workers. Good for me as Rio was calling me. However, had your Martha Steward invitation arrived in his pretty pink ribbon, I would have most defiantly attended. ^_^

Mmmm?I remember it was JamesK who first used the term Hoovillians It was for an LA get together-those used to be so much fun.Perhaps it was Lucky who brought us Hoovile-but that is not what I remember.I am sure someone with more time than I have can search out the history of this.I really do not care.

However=I do agree about it being a thing of the past as there is no longer such a place(except in Dr.Seuss books)as the"other site"has a different name now that is far from catchy and does not lend itself to cute/clever monikers.

Townie, you are and always have been among the more erudite posters here, IMO. :-)

But PLEASE, where did your tag line go? Something about being at a wallpaper convention???

BRING IT BACK, Townie!! :-)

If our purpose in posting is to have fun and entertain ourselves, this thread has been a hoot. I think deej had a tagline "thank you for playing" which fits aptly here. The Palm Springs event appreciates the publicity, and hopes that you are encouraged to attend next year. We can even join Lurker, and call it the HooMer Weekend, but if we can get Rentboy to join, it would be the Hoomerboy Weekend.

Please note.. I (LURKERSPEAKS) first coined the term HOO-MER get together. I was hoping to overcome the stigma of "us vs them" and help unite the forces that be.. to paraphrase Rodney King.."Can't we all just get along"?

"Bo was on time and hairy, just the way I like 'em! Beautiful hazel eyes, and a huge pink dick that he knew how to use. But he seemed distant, wouldn't kiss, and was definitely a clock watcher. Not for everyone."

Me: Fun loving bottom who loves the big boys.

An amusing link to Bonobo sexuality:

http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?arti...281474976769203

Highlights include:

"Male Bonobo do what is called 'penis-fencing,' in which two male Bonobo apes hang on a branch, face-to-face, while rubbing their erect penises together.

In Bonobo society, this kind of same-sex behavior is regarded as another form of pleasurable sexual activity; sexual activity among the Bonobo is engaged in both for reproduction and for pleasure.

Still with me? Bonobo apes also French kiss, engage in cunnilingus and fellatio and massage one another's genitals."
