Do You Make Plans?

Recommended Posts

Guest FourAces

I am not certain why but its very difficult for me to plan anything. Whether it be to meet a friend tomorrow night for dinner or to take a weekend trip next month to organizing the stack of papers sitting on my desk. Its really weird but I do stuff kind of at the last minute. A good example is if a friend wants to meet for dinner tomorrow night I will tell him that I will let him know tomorrow around noon.

So how about you guys? Do you find it easy to plan your life? To make doctor appointments? To travel? To meet people? To take care of that stack of papers?

I usually try to make plans.. But I admit I dont always stick to my plans. When it comes to vacations, I do plan those, usually several months in advance. I usually try to plan activities on my days off, but it seems more often than not, the plans don't work out as I had hoped.

I am a believer in the old adage of plan your work and work your plan.

If a friend said that to me I'd be insulted because it sounds like you don't want to commit in case something better comes along.

Zip no that is not the reason at all ... Trust me nothing better is coming along :( At this point my close friends no how I am though and accept it. I wish I could explain it but given your thoughts just for a moment if something better comes along it would not matter as I cannot plan for that either ^_^

I simply have a very very very difficult time planning what I will do tomorrow evening as an example. Even with doctor appointments I make them and reschedule them for no apparent reason. As I normally cannot plan far enough in advance to meet their schedule.

Basically if it feels right to me I can do it ... and that is usually a 6 hour window at most :(

Well my schedule is very hectic and I can be called into work anytime so I don't plan things that much. Sometimes hiring escorts is a big problem. I let them know in advance if I can't make it but I have to cancel a lot. I always forget my doctor's appointments and I think I paid more penalties than the actual medical bill. I sometimes dream about missing classes or forget going classes. I don't know why I still dream about my college years but I used to fail to go to classes thinking about something deeply.

Flights, business meetings and doctor appointments are things I put on my calendar and always do. Other than those, the more important something is, the more likely I will put it off til the last minute.

We had a thread here before where several of us recalled how our best college papers came out of all-nighters right before the thing was due.

I love making plans. But, I am not good at follow through. Esp. if they are more than a week away. I find I get the itch (no not an STD) to abandon ship and find myself booking last minute flights out of town. I woke up this AM and was bored in LA so I flew away for a bit. I am not sure if I had anything planned this weekend or next week or not but I thought some time away from LA would be good.

I would describe myself as extreme type A so everything is planned out to the smallest detail. So now that I have more free time I find myself not wanting to schedule anything to just keep my time free.

When I look at my daily planner, I can tell you what I will be doing each day this month, from work to tennis matches to entertainment to doctor/dentist appointments to shopping. However, what I hate to plan is vacations. My partner wants to know where were will be and what we will be doing every day on a trip a year or more in advance, whereas I like leisure travel to be almost spontaneous. I felt the same way when I used to hire escorts: I waited until I was in the mood, then tried to hire someone that day. Now, the business and my lifestyle have changed so much that hiring an escort is like making an appointment with one's tax accountant, which is probably why I don't enjoy it much any more.

Plans for normal stuff I'm good with, but plans for naughty stuff kill me. My main problem with Rentboy-type guys is "I plan to be horny next Tuesday at 2PM". But, then again the alternative is wasting a day on CL dealing with flakes/etc...

Because of my OCD, I tend to like to have things planned down to a certain extent especially if I'm going somewhere completely different. When I was younger, I liked to live by the seat of my pants. As a matter of fact, I drove down to Florida the first time not even bothering to make a hotel reservation and figuring I would make one when I get there. I caved in about a 1/2 hour outside of Orlando at around 7 pm and called a hotel and booked a room with them.

However even though I make these detailed plans, I rarely follow them. There were very detailed schedules for that contest I won to go to LA and party like a celebrity. When I got there, I had full intentions to follow the schedule. What happened is that I did the "private chauffeured Hollywood tour" on the first day then I blew off the salon/spa treatments I had scheduled along with the fancy dinner. I spent a lot of time just going out and exploring on my own. The person who I took along with me did follow the schedule pretty much verbatim so there's that too.
