first trip to Sao Paulo : Lagoa Fragata what else ?

Recommended Posts

Hello

I travelled a few times already to Brazil but it will be my first time in Sao Paulo beginning of July.

I am a little confused about Fragata : is it worth going there ? Or Lagoa is the place to go ? What are the best days/times ?

Any other place worth visiting ? Clubs or Disco or Cruising areas ...

Did anyone experience the Chilli Pepper hotel/sauna ?

Where to stay ?  I am currently booked at Comfort Downtown at Rua Araujo but I can easily change.

As for taxis are concerned, I understand that UBER is quite good  to move around Sao Paulo. Easytaxi seems also to be an option in Brazil since it was created there.

I read the posts on these places, but things change sometimes rapidly and all recent recommendations are welcome !

I will report my discoveries, as usual !

I'll confirm that both Uber and Easytaxi were reliable and great options when I was last there this past fall. Also, Lagoa is awesome, even on the weaker days the selection was great. I'm sure the crumbling economy has increased the numbers men seeking easy extra cash.

That's the hotel I usually stay at in SP..... if you are going to either sauna during rush hours where there is a lot of traffic, I'd use public transportation and Uber to get back to the hotel.

I like both saunas, am kinda well known,lol.......I prefer the guys at Fragata though. If you are into muscle and sometimes attitude, Laogoa is better for that, my opinion.

ANYTIME I've had problems in SP, is when I've decided to go to discos or bars late at night....alcohol and late nights in Brasil don't mix well. I usually have my fun at either sauna, go eat after sometimes invite a guy from the sauna to come to the hotel with me, and we drink there.

Went to the Chili pepper one time..... nice place, but the saunas spoil you by being able to have what you want, like a kid in a candy store.

Right around the corner from your hotel is a sex club called Rex.

There are 4 bars on Vieira de Carvalho towards the Praca da Republica end which can be fun.

I like very much the Peruvian restaurant at the corner with Rua Aurora.

All around Largo do Arouche are a bunch of t-rooms.

Fragata, in my opinion, is worth a visit while you are in Sao Paulo.  I have been there many times.  You can access Fragata via taxi, via bus or via Metro.  Since it is your first time going there, you might want to go by taxi.  If you are adventurous, you could take the bus or Metro but you will have to walk a few blocks to get to Fragata.

My experience has shown that USUALLY, Tuesday and Sunday evenings are best (busiest) at Fragata.

Lagoa is arguably the best sauna in Sao Paulo for rent-boys (garotos).  This sauna can also be accessed by taxi or Metro but I do not recommend using the bus.  If you use the Metro, you will have about a five block walk to Lagoa.

As an alternative, Uber in Sao Paulo is quite good.  I have used Uber many times to go to Guarulous and occasionally to go to various locations in Sao Paulo.   I have never been disappointed at using Uber in Brazil.

You also asked about Chile Pepper - I have no information about that place.

One place you did not mention is Bar Fama -

Bar Fama is a fun hustler bar similar to the hustler bars found in Porto Alegre (Era Uma Vez in Porto Alegre, for example) was but one such type bar that comes to mind.   I tried to do a search on this site to find the previous thread about Bar Fama but nothing comes up although there is quite a lot of information in the thread.  You might try later and it might appear for you.  In case the thread is lost, here is a web link to Bar Fama :

http://famainflama.blogspot.com/

Bar Fama, like the hustler bars in Porto Alegre, does not open until near midnight.  By one in the morning, the place is usually packed.  The place is not far from the hotel you mentioned but I do not recommend walking to there or from there late at night.  Using Uber or a taxi would be a good idea.

Good luck on enjoying Sao Paulo.

Paulerio, enjoy this vast city.  For additional information I'd like to suggest that you read what is at www.gaycities.com/SaoPaulo.  This site lists restaurants, clubs, etc.  I'm presuming there is salient info. for Sao Paulo.  Also, if you desire to do some cultural activities and want a personal guide [non sexual]-- I have a very qualified recommendation.  Send me a pct. if you're interested.  Again, make the most in being in one of the world's largest cities.

Well, I will be looking forward to your review. Fragata is not a place I like, but since others do, why not find out for yourself. I'd be interested in knowing if you get charged an airport surtax on the cab ride for entering the airport from a spot not inside their little airport city.

Now in SP. I struggled a little to find a nano sim card to activate it wihout a CPF (fiscal number) and to purchase an Internet package. But I finally managed. Hard to do if you do not speak Portuguese.  The shop in Garulhos selling the SIM card is the lottery shop located on 2nd floor at terminal 2 D.

Used the bus to reach my hotel which is a few meters from the Republican bus stop.

Going to Lagoa soon....

I had a lot of "small" problems : my computer broke down and I only get a black screen. From Internet it seems it is a well known problem on some HP laptops ... uber could not use my card and blocked my account. I was charged access to straight porn for 3.99 RS  a week by TIM. "Bem-Vindo ao Gatas Brasil. Baixe videos adulto ilimitados por RS 3,99/semana. para sair envie sair p/ 70700". So far I did not find a way to get more money back nor to stop the weekly payments : to be able to complaint I should have a CPF which I do not have... Many customers had the same problem with TIM since many months without any reaction from TIM. Finally my Amex card was cloned and I received a copy the day I left Europe. So far it seems to work ...

Boy wise I only went to Lagoa, taking the metro and walking to go there, and uber on my way back.  I stayed at Republica and at night the surroundings are not safe.

I found Lagoa very clean, pleasant with a good variety of boys. Less boys than I imagined or maybe it is because I spent all my time with Jesse, Artur and Luca who did meet all my expectations. Jesse (21) and Artur (23) are funny, witty and so much as ease sexwise. Boths are officially GP (garotos de programa) to pay their studies. Sex with all of them was great and relaxed. Had a repeat every day with Jesse which not my usual way to act... Luca is a different thing : he genuinely  likes Coroas (older gentlemen) and might have been more excited by me than me by him ! He is rather short with an average toned body. We cuddled in the sauna, in the gay porn video room and had a terrific session in a room. He was hard from the beginning to the end and cummed a huge cumshot. He loved to lick and suck me from head to toe and rimmed and ate my ass as I have not been done so many times in my life.

Went to Chili Pepper. Had some difficulty in finding the place. I Had a drink in a bar in front of the entrance and was really amazed to see many good looking men entering the place. Their site gives you the number of men in the sauna/sex room/ hotel (max I saw was 144 which is certainly a big sex party). I could not enter the place because I did not have the original of my passport with me ! And I was too lazy to go back to the hotel to fetch it (in addition there were only 40 persons inside).

Now I am in Porto Alegre where I met a regular boyfriend. Tomorrow will be Mezzaninu. I will try to avoid to be (as I read today) one of the 100 persons attacked every day in Porto Alegre.

TIM is bad for bogus charges on prepaid accounts.  Resign yourself to the fact that it is only a little bit of money that TIM deducted and you will not get back any of the amount already deducted.  You are talking about less than two euros for the week of films.  It is not worth your time.

Of course, if you have had your TIM phone for a while and from your prior trips to Brazil, then there would have been the R$3,99 weekly charge from the time TIM started deducting the money.  Even then, you are not talking about enough money to spend time on something that will not result in any refund.

You said you have not figured a way to stop the weekly payments.  Doing so is not difficult.  Use your phone that contains the TIM SIM card.  Send a text message to TIM.  Using a text message format, enter the number 70700 (do not use whatsapp or any other text method except your local SIM phone).  Next, in the area to write your message, type, (in capital letters) EXIT p / 70700 then push enter.  You will shortly receive a text from TIM (protocol) telling you that the service will stop after your current payment (that TIM deducted without your knowledge or permission) expires.

I used TIM for many years while in Brazil.  I had unexplained and unauthorized things happen to the prepaid amounts I paid to TIM.  I finally switched to VIVO as a carrier.  No more bogus charges.

In Brazil there is no "perfect" prepaid phone carrier but TIM seems to be the worst because of their spurious charges and their inadequate coverage area.  If you return to Brazil again, there is a VIVO store not far from the hotel you used.  The store is on the third level in the complex called "Shopping Light" across from the Sao Paulo opera house.

Although you did not ask for an opinion of Porto Alegre, I think you might be a little disappointed visiting Porto Alegre during the week.  The weekend is the busiest and best times for the saunas and hustler bars.  This means that you will most likely not get as much pleasure from Porto Alergre had you visited on the weekend instead.

How is it that I missed the reports about Brazil being "the murder capital of the world" - see this:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/2016/01/29/months-before-rio-olympics-murder-rate-rises-in-brazil/#6e0c09141a0b

Is it time for a reassessment of my many trips to Brazil?  Have I just been lucky?  Or, could it be, the murder and crime statistics are not in the areas I visit.

These news reports certainly are not reassuring as they are written.

The news reporters have a job and have to write something, otherwise, they will be next on the unemployment roles in Brazil.

I came already a few times to Porto Alegre and of course will spend the week end here leaving on Monday to Rio to go to Meio Mundo. Since Wednesdays nites are normally good in Mezzaninu I was sorry not to be able to attend but it was the only occasion to meet my local boyfriend ... I will discover Mezzaninu boys tonight ...

As for theTIM charges I sent the "sair" message to 70700 and received information that service was cancelled. I had not done it before because I thought that it would create additional charges. The problem is not a problem of money of course  but a problem of principle ! As you say it is 1 € per week. In addition it seems it is directly managed by TIM since the charge occurs without any action (no answer on my side to a SPAM message for instance) which is very frustrating.  It is officially robbing customers. And yes it is 1 € per week but if they do that to all customers - which seems to be the case if you look at complaints on internet - it is a lot of money. It remembers me a famous case of an accountant who was sending to his own account all what was above rounding up after change operations eg 10.754 USD gave 10.75 USD for the customer and 0.004 USD for him.... Apart from that the TIM coverage is not bad.
