this discussion brings us to another point : are really all those brand name , luxuriously priced goods , drinks and foods really worth their price ? Will really 200$ suitcase last 7 times longer than cheap 30$ one? Does that 500 $ whisky taste 10 time better than 50 $ one ? And even if we think it does it's because is really that better or because we know it's expensive one so subconsciously we grade her above the other ? After many years of trying, mostly for fun, I must say my experience is somewhat mixed. I have brand shirt which after 30 years (yes , still fits) is not showing any sign of wear even in close inspection. But one I had even more expensive , so impressive that even guy who interviewed me for a job at the time commented how elegant she is ( I got the job , quitted after 3 months),is long gone because started fraying on cuffs and collar quite fast . So that coca-cola diluted cheap plonk may actually taste better than that expensive thing appreciated only by by those who either know it must be excellent because of price or nor brave enough to say loudly the truth. On another hand sometimes forking out few more dollars may result in exponentially better and /or longer experience. It's almost the same like with our boys where higher tip expected doesn't guarantee better experience (although in my opinion almost always guarantees better built or endowment or both) and it's up to us to assess whet we prefer -nicely packed sand bag or off the mill skinny but clingy his younger brother. I for one will go for packaging.

good to know, my experience with cruises is very limited ( two)and night were always on the sea. What you say makes sense, not only passengers can explore Pattaya reputation but also go to Bangkok indeed and even spent night there.

I doubt, by time bars open ship will sail away. But yes , bars can innovate and during days ship is in the port they can be opened during day with short time rooms nearby ready

I'm not in favor of ghettoization and don't mind if people blend in as long as they behave and employ ' live and let live" attitude. So far I never had problems with straights or ladies , be it in bar, street, shops or restaurant. Sometimes may be some look or raised brows but that's about it. We gays are no saints either unfortunately. As for the dish, that's the beauty of it, with few ingredients which can be mixed in different proportions and meat which can be added cooked or fried there's possibility of multitude of variations. As for trying it at home, many exotic drinks or dishes taste well on vacation and/or in country of their origin but not necessarily at home. I tried it at least 3 times in various Thai eateries here and while Singha beer tasted all the same , chicken with nuts was just distant relative of what I tried in LOS

I'd say that future is already there. During recent trip I just returned from , for fun I pay attention to who clientele in bars is and definitely always farangs , young and old, were minority. On at least two occasions I was only farang in audience , fact actually noticed by Tawan boy sitting beside me " no farang, only you". I for one don't mind that at all, it doesn't matter who keeps bars running as long as somebody does. Surely, at one point in future is may lead to situation when we may not feel welcomed but that is very theoretical prospect now. I also don't mind ladies in boy bars. Surely, they are competition and chances are we are on losing end in many cases but they oil industry and feed boys. Sure all that screaming is annoying but so it loud music , pesky mamasans, drink prices, heat and traffic outside, double pricing, packed BTS trains and so many things annoying us but never to a degree we look for an alternative.

I love Line, very easy to use and communicate. My problem with Line is that some boys just abuse it by sending tons of irrelevant messages and emoticons and some business accounts also are spamming like there's no tomorrow. But I guess it comes with inventory so I stick to Line through thick and thin. Yes , I like vacation action packed and often I think it's time to slow and enjoy cup of tea in the room more often. But I'm energized by big cities and in Bangkok I feel like 24 hours is not enough.

perhaps if they tried to lower it expected surge in patronage did not materialize. We don't know those things until we sit at the till. I'd let owners to run their business. Recently we had complain about extortionate fees at Dreamboys Patpong (I agree , too steep for what they offer) and yet there was report bar was 80 % full.

Final reflections Best thing about that trip was that it was entirely unplanned and unexpected. Last time I had such fast decision trip to Thailand was back in 2013 , also in May. I found it very energizing waking up in the morning to find out by midnight than in 2 days I’m flying to other end of world. That’s advantage of being retired as such feast would be hardly doable in normal 9-5 working conditions. Because luggage was free I was hauling more goodies than usually when I travel just with carry on and found it bit tiring considering my habit of changing hotels every 2-3 nights. Perhaps time to try more permanent arrangement next time like changing place only once per trip. I’m happy I decided to return to butterflying giving every bar a chance. I’m still warming toward Jupiter and after two visit this trip I’m more than half way there. It used to be bar I did not like at all so it’s great improvement. Line up on my 1st visit this trip was truly impressive, as I mentioned I like 100 % of what was on offer. My disappointment was unspoken so far in report. Last trip I spotted some hunk in Thai Relax massage in soi 6 on my last day and he was not available. I hoped to see him this trip but he went home for good according to other boys from that venue. ST from Tawan was great find of this trip shining both with personality and body. He probably realized that and was bit costly but I liked him very much thank you and only can hope he will be there next time. Along with Y from Moonlight and S from HotMale, all offed twice they were my trip heroes. Masseur N who extracted 5 sessions from me had best chance to be super star but spoiled it a bit by not reading me properly – I don’t like irrelevant or nosy messages like ‘how are you ?’ or “what you are doing now ?” he was bombarding me on Line even if I know there were well meaning and supposed to show he cares. It’s funny situation as I like guy a lot and his massage was by far the best I had in a few trips and in the room he performed as I liked plus plus, I still had moments I was mad at him. And this is actually not funny. Overall Line is great tool to hook up and communicate with guys but sometimes I wonder if it’s really worth of trouble to give boys my Line because of such case of abuse so to speak. On another hand it was life saver when due to holiday bars were closed but I managed to utilize my contacts and pull it as best day of the whole trip. Tawan with Banana in second place continue to be most friendly bars as far as I see even if Tawan boys are trying to abuse my wallet but at least they do it good natured way and understand word NO without any grimaces . As for massage Jey Spa continues to be my post Covid massage central and both guys I had there were gold standard how session and masseur should look like . Not for first time I noticed that with price service standard goes up which theoretically it’s how it’s supposed to be but we all know it’s far from reality. I was concerned I’m losing thing for Thai boys with few voluntary empty nights which almost never happened before, but now , with cold head I see that perhaps it’s bit of natural. After overheating cool down time should come. If I don’t feel like having companion why should I torment myself with looking for one ? Two boys pissed me off , one by not showing and another one by asking for dink and leaving me promptly which was more painful due to fact we had common history with either one. My revenge was simply to skip off this trip and tell them why. At least one confirmed that he got the message. Prices are going up. I’m not taking vacations to save money as staying home does better job but had few sticker shocks – 1000 off fee at BoyzBoyZBoyz, 900 massage fee at Tawan, 6000 long time request from Tawan Boy( declined). I think time will come when some haggling will be in order. I praise myself for idea of breaking my trip by going to Kuala Lumpur and I’m eternally grateful to my local friend there for being my guide and companion. Finally heartfelt thank you to reader, Anddy, Jason 1975 and ChristianPFC for all those meals and bar visits together. Due to family and my personal issues timing of my next trip is unknown but working on it. Brutal truth is , whatever plans I may make they may be ruined at the short notice. Ever optimist I hope for at least one more this year or early next one.
