I always book at least first night in advance wherever I go. Even if I travel lightly , looking for a room with luggage is not my idea of fun , specially in a new place. Hotels in Thailand are such good value that price saving consideration for me is of limited, another advantage of booking in advance is need to carry less money. one observation from booking my hotels before last trip was that if one site doesn't have free spaces is to try other . If agoda say 'all booked ' go to expedia or booking.com or hotels.com and they still may have rooms. Some hotels are not on all websites so if you are keen on particular place , comb the net for it. I find hotelscombined.com site very useful for comparizon shopping

it's why I went to Pattaya despite bit disappointing experience last trip year ago. Bangkok is more expensive but has more options , specially in the well built department and keeping busy during day. Pattaya is cheaper so better value for money. At end of day it's guy who counts , not a place and gem can be found everywhere. Even at Tawan now there's diminutive , bit muscled twink in the offer. Some massage boys in mixed places are exemplary hunks too.

Day 4 In the morning it’s usually the boys who are trying to storm out but today it was actually me feeling pretty hungry. Being part –time gentleman I actually asked my guy if he wants to sleep or go with me to eat something and his choice was aligned with mine. So we went to Foodland Pattaya of all places. After filling up we parted our ways and I went to survey Pattaya newest gem, Terminal 21 mall. In the room well deserved shower and off to next goal – newly opened Paradise massage in the same soi. I did not even notice that before 5 p.m. price of 1 hr massage is 220 only but since I like 1.5 hrs treatments I passed that option anyway. Rooms and lobby new and shiny, proper massage table with face well and most important few good looking massage guys on duty . Picked up one with most handsome face , Wit. In the room fully dressed but in course of the course some movements suggested that more than just a , by the way, very good massage will be available. And after 1 hr. he was not exactly dressed, now you know why I like 1.5 hr sessions. It was plainly obvious that we hit it together so I shyly asked about LT option , approved immediately and we agreed that I will be waiting for him at the hotel after his shift ends at 1 am. Then with muscles stretched I went for a walk here and there, bought few bricks of soap for 5 baht each, wandered around Tuk-com and in one of eateries I spied ChristianPFC finishing his meal immediately requested explanation since we were to meet for the dinner at 7 pm at my hotel. I was shocked that he simply was just hungry , who would think ? Then wanted to go to Sunee but took wrong turn and landed somewhere else but found my way back to Boyztown . At 7 as agreed Christian showed up, we had nice chat in the room and then went to Alt Heidelberg for a dinner, That’s the place I can eat daily as their schnitzel with fried potatoes brings me memories of childhood Sunday dinners at home, they do it almost the same way my Mom used to cook . I’m sure when She looks from above she overlooks my sinful behavior due to attachment to her cooking. Then we went back to Boyztown , peeked in to ToyBoys to find that there’s not a single boy on the stage. It was early , 9 pm but still… So we went to Nice Boys in Sunee, drink 160, boys drink 200. As always several guys on the podium in different stages of undressing and stiffness or at least working on it. I invited one with broadest smile to sit beside and over drink did some exploration and it was enough to explore let’s say. After while we were back in Boyztown , peeked to Toy Boys to find final few guys on the stage but we weren’t impressed , the same at Cupidol , in BBB I pointed at my Handsome Cambodian , even Christian approved his looks and we decided next destination was Dreamboys. We entered at end of show when guys were parading among audience extracting tips. One of them was guy I remember from ABomb so called him over and scandalized Christian by tipping him whole 100 baht just for a short feel of what was rigid cock but likely of silicone variety because seemed colder than rest of skin. Buy this tip was not for a cock but for old times sake, I like, when guys are recognizing me , specially as in this case , guys who weren’t even offed by me. Waiting for a next show I called over nice Cambodian only to find that he works also 5-9 at Royal House as masseur and his name/ nick is Soviet. In meantime Christian left us but I was waiting for second show having nice Soviet time. 500 tip, 200 for time , 300 for name. Then short walk to Castro as I had some time to kill before 1 am, I had a beer watching end of show, somehow I always like it. As time was near I went back to hotel waiting for my guy chatting a bit with resident girls and then with somebody who looked as first time tourist so I chatted him up also not only to confirm my suspicions but also to find out that he is Romanian so I greeted him properly in his language shocking him visibly and in pleasant way at that. Last thing he expected was that somebody will greet him in his native tongue that far from home. Instructed him that this is in big part man liking man area and to illustrate point my guy showed up so we embraced before I shook hands with my pleasant interlocutor. It was very pleasant night , we had few drinks and then embraced to retire in not quite quiet way. Second night and second long time , long live Patttaya thought I remembering that only 11 months ago in the next soi I was swearing not to come here ever ! Day 4 was finished as it should , with Paradise guy right there.

you are not going that far to rest, specially when trip is short make sure you are busy in the LOB, then rest at home upon return

I'm another fan of Yoyo and regret he was absent the night I was there with Christian, he is worth his tip , that's sure thing.

I second idea that going northbound from Saigon to Hanoi is better than other way ( southbound ) which I did way back in 2002. That way one has best part at the end of trip IMNSHO

my tip structure is also simple but not exactly Christian like. If something sinister was involved I tip 1000 for 1 hr session, 1500 for 1.5 hr / my preferable / , 2000 for 2 hr session / rarely done / If there's minimum tip I will tip whatever it is but as far as I know only Senso, MYHero and VCK will have higher minimum than stated here. If I like guy or session or both I may add 100-500 but this solely depends on my mood at end of engagement.

Day 3 At 9 am I went downstairs to find my guy waiting already so we went for breakfast as planned. He caused a bit of sensation wearing singlet showing all his impressive biceps heavily tattooed . From there march to the tower, elevator up and it turned up it will not be as much fun as we both expected. He turned out to be afraid of heights and it was plainly visible with quite a sweating. So I did not even try to drag him to the glass and went there alone. At least wit did not leave him , when I commented that such big guy should be more brave , answer was “ I big outside but small inside”, very shrewd. Back to the ground, he went to work and I to hotel to pack my meager possessions and check out at 12 on the dot. Nobody accuses me I did not utilize my paid time at Amara. It was pleasure to stay there , not only because it was sole hotel that trip with breakfast included. My next destination was Pattaya and my hotel Classrooms , one above ABomb with their check in at 3 pm policy and it was additional reason I did not rush to leave Amara. My mean to get there recently is an airport bus to Jomtien so back to BTS and airport train. Perfect timing there, next bus in 10 minutes and there are still seats available, barely time to go to the loo and I was on my way. In Jomtien I caught songtaew to Central Pattaya and in few minutes I was already on reception. I got room on 2nd floor , just above the bar but it turned noise free. I like Classrooms because rooms are very spacious and well appointed with microwave and cutlery, there’s sitting area and the best – entry is by the side door and card so it’s quite discreet. Jet lag wise it was my worst day so I took afternoon easy but being hungry I went to Alt Heidelberg on Beach Rd for my customary schnitzel there and took it easy until about 8 p.m. when life came back to me. Shaved and showered I went to Boyztown around the corner to find it depressingly empty. Parked at Castro over bottle of Chang l felt sorry for massage boys from all three places, more than dozen of them on duty and to customer in sight. After 9 it become bit busier , williewillie showed up so we caught with the news, than I noticed Vessey passing by so I rushed to greet him even if we never met but I had his picture. At 10 p.m I entered BBB to see that stage was crowded with boys , all fully dressed with exception of few showing torsos , jeans galore and no numbers , no name tags even. Very active and pleasant to be with so day 3 was crowned with great find.

Day 2 continued Thank you to Drim for pointing out that my trip was very recent , not in 2018 as in tittle so hopefully administration will be able to correct my mistake. After 2 hours on the top of Bangkok I hit the ground again with first steps to see boarded up, ready to be demolished soi Twilight. Sad picture indeed , specially the banner announcing ‘ this soi will go on for another 6 years ‘ is still hanging above the former entrance . Bo no amount of tears will return soi to it’s former glory so winding my way through Patpongs and Silom I returned to the hotel to get some jet lag curing rest. At 4 p.m. second shot at M at Senso but bad luck again, he is not there. But I’m so decided to engage Tim, recommended by few posters. On the website he looks more massive than in reality, he is rather n twinky side but still great find ! I had some pain in my right calf lingering for couple weeks and pointed it out to him . He spent there perhaps 20 minutes and it looks removed whatever caused it for good. Now , almost 3 weeks later still all perfect. Not that he is good only in massage . He certainly knows how to boil blood while massaging so all in all great and satisfying session , we even find time for 15 minutes of just quiet embraces. That’s advantage of 1.5 hr sessions. 1490 for the house, 2000 tip for the guy, well deserved . When ready to leave quite heavy rain started so I outwaited it over 200 baht bottle of beer, while heavy it did not last long. From there stroll to Silom, in mouth of soi 4 I noticed that my regular from Nakarat is on duty so for old times sake decided to have another 1 hr massage session. He remembered me and my antics and result of session was long time engagement for tonight. I promised to pick him up after his shift. From there you guessed rightly I went straight to Maha Nakhon again , this time to check how Bangkok looks from above in the dark. Let me tell you , looks great with all those lights and screens on the buildings but for first times I think daytime option would be more rewarding. And of course crowds, it was easily 3-4 times more people than in the morning on all levels. Glass was closed so it looks it’s only open during daylight . Another, third point for daytime visit. After 45 minutes of enjoyment up in the sky I marched to meet ChristianPFC for our traditional pizza meals at Madrid Tavern in Patpong 1. Always pleasure and pizza is great, each of us ordered different one and we shared half each. Brief visit at only remaining Patpong 1 boy bar Sweet Banana or something but we weren’t that impressed by what we saw to continued to Lucky Boys. Big bar, quite empty as it was early but closer to the show it become more packed for Monday. Twinks there are not my specialty but #37 got my customary 100 baht tip for the best guy. Famous mamasan Lucy tried to entertain us and extract some tips but my message ‘ I like girls “ was received as it should and she departed our table soon enough. I was told that Yoyo from Screwboys moved to this bar but did not see that great guy on the stage which was perhaps blessing as I had already guy arranged. We left just before show, at mouth of soi 4 my guy was waiting for me so Christian went his way and buy and me headed for Foodland for last supper before fun. No fuss at Amara lobby , elevator up and as they say we hit the sheets but while massages by him were always great and fun, tonight both of us lacked spark. My jet lag perhaps , he could be new to idea of long time or even going with customer so it was nice and soothing experience but lacking heat a bit with guy spending a lot of time in the toiled just playing on his phone. ( I woke up to empty bed and went here to see him and his glowing phone in the dark. ) Bit weird but not as bad as it sounds, partially as reward for tonight’s company , partially for excellent memories from the past encounters I let it go, asked him to come for breakfast and promised to take him , you guessed it right , to Maha Nakhon. At 6 am he left promising to return at 9 and I got 3 more hours of sleep and this is how day 2 finished.

I'm not familiar with Amara , booked only because of spark of the moment ( I was reading thread where that hotel was recommended when phone rung and somebody who owed me money for a few years announced he is passing by to pay his debt so I decided to spent windfall right away as sum owed was roughly what 2 nights at Amara cost) we love you too don't over do it, book some cheapie like Nantra , Wall Street , Strand or Pavillion for night before, you will arrive to take shower and a nap, at 2 pm go to Raya and save your 100 for a boy's tip. Nantra single room without window can be had for 20$ I think

Yes , 765 baht and you mat receive that 10% discount. That 30 $ may be price for October or later , I bought few of my tickets on-line while still at home and price was the same

I do too , if only to avoid carrying excessive amount of cash. In June last year instead of arriving at 2 a.m. I showed at Nantra Silom at 1 p.m. They still kept room for me. As mentioned before when I depart or arrive at non-standard hours I tend to book cheaper hotels so my heart is not bleeding that I'm not utilizing my payment in full . If hotel is not full they may let us in even very early . BBB Inn once let me in at 8 a.m. without any fuss and extra charge. Extending stay beyond check out time may be more difficult as cleaning stuff may be already gone , specially in smaller places. I know somebody who was staying in one of better places in Sukhumvit area and when asking about extending stay for couple hours they directed him to a cleaner saying that they don't mind as hotel is not full but he must compensate cleaner for extra hours on duty. So some places may be very accommodating, he is 2 weeks regular there every Feb though so it could be factor.

acting on question from member here is some additional information: If you over 60, admission now till end of Sept is 250 , regular is posted as 765 but during my stay they were giving 10 % off so it was 690. It looks that those prices are dynamic and they change them according to demand, perhaps that 10% is weekdays only I have impression I heard that but not sure. Anyways it's worth even 1000 in my opinion and I'd fork it , may be not so many times as I did this trip . There's no limit to stay , whole day is fine.

it's very smart that you booked room for whole night even if you will not be using it past midnight likely. I know some miserables who are checking out at noon and have nowhere to place their luggage , not to mention take a shower or another s... waiting for their past midnight flight and then travelling in sweaty shirt . Although me, with my love of changing hotels in such situation I'd check out of Raya at noon and book room in one of cheaper hotels in vicinity like Nantra , Pavillion or Wall Street Inn for that half night in order to save that 30-40 $ which can be better spent as a tip for your last consolator. Raya may check you in earlier if your room will be available but don't count on it and be prepared that hay may make you waiting till 2 p.m.

Day 2 Before reception called me I was up already admiring my view from 16th floor. Went for breakfast, very opulent affair with multitude of Asian and Western treats including pastries and plenty of fresh fruit. It was included in my rate but even when purchased for 350 if I recall it would be worth expense. Next step was short walk to Maha Nakhon to see Bangkok from above and step on that newly famous glass floor. Till end of Sept that have very attractive rate for over 60, 250 baht only which I abused mercilessly going there six times during my trip. I was at 10 am. on the dot, no crowds , few of us in elevator and when we reached 74 floor it was that WOW!!! Factor with excellent view as weather was pretty good and visibility even better. Bit excited I wrapped my sandals in show covers they provide , took deep breath and went for that glass. OMG , it is something being there and looking at all those high rises deep below. I spent good 2 hours there identifying known and unknown objects and was shaken to see that such landmark as Wat Arun from there is barely visible point on river bank. For good while couldn’t even locate Golden Mount. As Christian said before in his blog , not a boring moment there. Words of advice: morning hours are much , much , much less crowded than afternoon and evenings so be there early when they open at 10. If you afraid of heights there are two levels a bit below, fully glassed from where vista are as exciting as from top . If it’s raining, with first drop whole top level , not only glass is closed so if that’s important for you wait for sun to return. For those complaining about drink prices in the bars, draft beer on the top cost 330 so have your drink at 7/11 before venturing up . No , you can’t take any liquid with you . And if worst , God forbid , happens , it will be only 8 seconds before you hit ground 314 meters below. Before you go down , a must is a visit to the toilet on the same levels elevator down are. That the toilet with a VIEW. Multitasking lovers can pee and admire vista from 300 m above at the same time. Upon exit you are taken to 3 levels of maze of duty free stores, which by the way can be reached without buying ticket if you decide to buy something after all. Prices are high but refrigerator magnet is only 20 baht and you have 4 or 5 different to choose from. Lowest level of shops is very nice Thai souvenir section. Warning, right after passing security upon entry you are invited to have your picture taken. It’s not mandatory but if you opt for it , when taken down you will be invited to purchase bit tacky but still nice set of three pictures of you above for 500 baht . to be continued , in meantime few pictures of what we are talking about yes, that's me , surveying that 8 seconds chasm intriguing picture is of evacuation staircase , all 74 floors down
