Go to Bangkok. Like firecat noticed above , if you don't try it you will never know what you are missing. Since we don't know you nor your favorite types of boys we can only advise based on what we are and what we like. Price wise Pattaya seems to be cheaper on almost every account - hotels, restaurants , bar and massage fees, drinks and tips but are you really going for vacation to worry about 30 baht difference of breakfast price or 100-150 in cost of drinks and off fees? Yes it adds up over week or two but wouldn't be cheaper to stay home than sweat over your wallet 7/24 ? Bangkok has solution for it too- Saranrom boys are charging uniform 500, soi 6 bar boys will go with you for 1000 ST and drinks are 100-150. Acting on paulsf advice above I recommend Bangkok because gay scene is more varied and there's no danger of boredom for me during day.

I always maintain that one attractive boy is what one needs. Did not sleep there but in May visited my friend who used that hotel. Room very modern but a bit cramped and claustrophobic, no window. Location had to beat but for what he paid / I don't remember now how much / I found Nantra Silom I was staying at the time better value for money, less luxurious but cheaper and with a window. Very timely question, my friend mentioned above moved to Raya and I went to visit him there as well. Absolute gem, modern, new , room spacious and spotless.He even noticed his boys were duly impressed as well. As you mentioned good deals can be had/ he paid less than 1500 if i recall correctly , but even with prices quoted it looks as it's worth a splurge. No problem with visitors at both places. It looks now than with Raya we have full range hotels in the same block soi Twilight is, from basic / Take-a-Nap / to bit better / BBB Inn / to luxurious / Raya / . There's also hostel /Thrive / and another mid-range place / Talay suites / but I don't know how gay and visitors friendly they are.

They probably saw it all and wouldn't be surprised if only one is chosen at a time or at all but everything should be politely negotiated and compensated to avoid bad feelings
