I was bumped 5 times in Miami by Ladeco / now defunct Chilean airline / ,on my way to Santiago offered immediately flight with another airline with connection through Guyaquil in Equador which served me well because new , improved formula flight had better arriving time in late instead very early morning . Coupon for 25% next flight went unused. in Warsaw by Lot Polish on my way to Newark, no compensation offered but next day flight promised and given in a business class in Chicago by Mexicana on way to Mexico city, flight with another airline offered 4 hours later and 200 $ for pain and suffering, accepted in Lukla , Nepal on way to Kathmandu, no compensation but firm promise that I will fly the same day and surely 2 hours later I was on my way in Amsterdam by KLM on way to Vancouver, given another flight with Northwest through Chicago departing 3 hrs later , inconvenience for people waiting for me in Vancouver because nobody told them why I did not arrive as scheduled and did not even confirm that I was on originally scheduled plane but employee suggested that I may arrive with Northwest as that was practice for overbooked flights on that route. No really not much pain suffered although it was upsetting at the time

I pay 3000 for 8 hours of fun. sometimes but not always interrupted by some sleep time so it seems hourly rate you are paying is shockingly high, LOL I find tourists with more sense than money paying 4500 a night at Dusit Thiani when thay can have clean bed with breakfast at Raya for 2250. And those who after paying 450 for their breakfast when one can have the same a Foodland Patpong for 62 as long as it's ordered before 9. And we can go with such litany forever. It's nothing wrong with questioning sense of other's spending habits but calling it dumb and accusing that this inflates prices for all others is dumb indeed. Perhaps some people have fun paying more for business class or 400 $ for pair of jeans the same way like others are happy to bargain 200 baht underwear on Silom down to 100 or 1500 tip for short time down to 1200? As for taxis firecat is spot on and what he describes above that's my experience as well. as for tips , 1200 for short time may be tough to get accepted by soi Twilight, Jupiter or Tawan boy but some from Super A , Golden Cock or Nature boy may go for it

I off long time almost exclusively and always agree on terms ( time and fee ) up front with warning that if they leave earlier tip will be 1000. I recall only three cases when boy reneged on time preferring 1/3 of his promised tip and leave , I suspect like z909 mentioned above , that was their original plan. Goes without saying they will never get chance for another off from me again, actually 2 of them were informed about this on next occasion with explanation why. I don't mind nor shortcut them if they need to leave early and tell me that up front - one of my quasi regulars always goes at 5 because he needs to go the the market and buy supplies to cook a breakfast for his mother, had a case of another boy who set alarm clock at 6 because he needs to go home take his child to the school, did not skip on performance though. Surprisingly perhaps I had few cases of short time offs shortchanging promised time, kiss of death with one exception and I'm happy I broke my internal rule for him ( boy named Boy from Tawan ). Generally speaking I don't like when boy tells me he wants to go even if at agreed time, I prefer to be one releasing him from my company and I think I pay well for a privilege.

My personal allowance of cash not in the safe strictly adhered to is no more than 8200 on me plus 3000 hidden somewhere in the room for easy access to tip boy in the morning without opening safe / money belt in his presence. That's ensures I will not get carried away too far so to speak. By 5 a.m. big chunk of that would be spent including at times boy's tip ( repeat companions I often tip up front and contrary to what one may think boys tipped that way never ever shortchanged me on neither the time agreed nor performance, I'd not do that for first timers though)
