For thailand, ive done ayutthaya by train, hua hin by train, death railway which is of course by train, and took train going back from maeklong train market. Ive always dream of going to chiangmai/chiang rai by train, as well as taking train towards laos and towards cambodia, but crossing border seems a bit of a hassle, and no train on the other sides. Just be prepared to fill up your times with stuff to do

Its 3 years consecutive non-immigrant visa (which none of the kids have), and 5 categories of people who allowed permanent residency, business, expert, investor, supporting humanity reason (marriage with local or guardian/parent of local child) and one open category as thai immigration seems fit (maybe the kids can be parked under this). And 10 years as PR can qualify you to be thai naturalized citizen (these kids would not have any issue on this once the got PR though).

And im 5/10 on vinapu's list, 3 of those are in pattaya, so discounting that, still 5/7. Senso and nakarat are the two that have yet received my patronage

I do that too, but i also use ratings and reviews to set my priorities. When travelling, i usually dont like a strict schedule, but like to go with the flow, but i also have lists of places i want to go to arranged in an order of the most to the least places i wanted to go, grouped by locations. This is only true for first time visit, where i usually want to visit all the places that is recommended as much as possible and im usually flushed with choices with not much time. On the other hand, if its my second or subsequent visits, and if i stay much longer than 3-4 days, i would like to go to places that are more unique and tailored to what i really want to see and maybe just wander around looking for places to watch sunrise/sunset, or restaurant to chills, or off beaten places not usually frequented by tourists. I guess its really depends on my mood lol

The more i read this story, the more this story resembles one of the scam story, where they promised your a large sum of money but before that u will need to help them to pay some fees so they can give u the money. Unless the boy have been this farang long lasting friends.

Grab taxi charges are higher than normal taxi in bangkok. Ive been using both to travel from my hotel to silom soi6, and its about 80-90 baht for grab and 60 for metered taxi. But only use metered taxi if u know the road, since some driver are pretty much useless with their directions. On the other hand, regardless of where the grab driver mistakenly took wrong roads, the fare will be fixed.

Its not just thailand but almost all countries have custom declarations rules for money, mostly equivalent to us10k, anything more, then you will have to declare on how you procure such money and why are u bringing it to that country etc. Again, if u didnt do anything illegal, its just more paperwork but it's necessary to deter illegal money laundering cases which usually involved several other crimes as well. And if he thinks of bringing that much money, and get away without bribing, he is kidding himself. The custome might have already reported what the amount of money in dolar, so bribery must not be from the reported amount i guess?
