Do consider visiting chiang mai during other times except loy krathong. My trip last december 2023 was exceptional, with cool temperature (15 C at times!). I had to buy a wind breaker for my doi inthanon visit as the day before my visit, temperature up there reached 7C in the morning, and im so glad i did lol and yes, i use woody for that visit too. I usually pay less than 500 baht taking taxi from bkk airport, even less if its from DMK. At late night, many taxi want a flat rate of 500 or 600 if its a big van type taxi that can fit more luggage and pax. Compare that to what you pay for grab, seems like u pay more. Anyway, just wanted to point out the comparison. I understand you also wanted to use CC, so grab maybe more convenient. I used bolt as well, most of the time, its cheaper than grab. Dont fret. Im a believer of second chance and if you are open to take him again, he will remember that you tip him well and most likely will perform much better to compensate. But then again, i will reserve this for those guys that i really like but our first encounter was not as good as i hope. Almost always, my second encounter was better, and many times they become my regular. U might caught him in his bad day, or he is also trying to learn what you like and not. They arent mind reader so first encounter can be awkward. The subsequent encounter can be more rewarding especially if you tip well the first time despite it being less than satisfying.
