I did doi inthanon visit, and coupled it with par chor canyon in mae wang national park. There are several waterfalls too. Advisable to hire a car and guide (i used woody) For doi suthep, i used the seongthaw. U can take the red seongthaw from across the north of old city gate to the zoo to get to another one that will take you to the temple. It can be a while to get going as they will wait until the seongthaw is full before depart especially during low season. Another option is to negotiate with the driver to take you up as private hire.

I agree with you that waiter whose job only to serve drinks shouldnt get the same tip as the big cock show guys parading their goods. But in ocassion where waiter is more of my type, and the big cock show guy isnt, i might tend to be biased and tips the waiter more, and no tip to the unsolicited big cock guy who come to me. Its because many of the non-thai cant read thai scripture but can understand spoken thai. Just noticed hank already answered as well. Ive made a mistake before when taking a guy to a movie. Most movies in thailand are either dubbed without subtitle or english with thai subtitle. So unless your guy can read thai, or understand english enough to follow a movie, seems like there is no common ground.

In bangkok or pattaya, find a sport bar. They will definitely show you some football/soccer games. I guess for american football, higher chance to find one in pattaya.

Go there after midnight, or if you have energy, after your moonlight visit. Since goodboy open late, usually most of the customer crowd move there at around midnight, so you will have a busier bar without much pestering by mamasan.
