  1. Im good at saving money but not good at investment. I should learn the investment routes soon but kept delaying it. Plus, i cant seems to shake off losing my hard savings when the stocks didnt do well. I have one stock only and havent sell mine since the IPO. It is profitable and still giving me dividen. I like reading about investments but the more i read, the more hesistant i get lol.
  2. I dont like flying. Weird since i.love travelling so much but flying is just a thing one must do to go to places. I dont mind the food, can live with the cramped seats, but a good flight for me is one i can sleep through, ideally as soon as the flight took off, and woke up as we are landing. I had one bad experience when i was 17, where our flight had to turn back and make emergency landing at the departure airport and we heard people said they see smokes while we are descending. The landing was rough but safe and there is a scores of fire trucks and ambulance ready but thankfully no one needed them. We were put on a different plane to travel again on the same day. Also, i hate turbulence lol. I had taken few business class flight for work, and it was definitely much better especially for long haul travel. I also took northwest 13 hours direct flight from minneapolis to narita, on a flight that doesnt even have in flight entertainment. The most pleasant flight ive taken is on the airbus business class with emirates, between KL and Dubai.
  3. Another one that im wondering is, if this similar thing happened in your own country, what does one do? Over here, we do have goverment care facilities that is free for the poor, older people who have no support system or relatives to take care of them. But i do believe it is only for citizen. However, there are also care facilities that is NGO supported through donations and this should allow non citizens as well. How about in thailand? It seems like retiring overseas without the option to come back to your own country is very risky indeed. Luckily for me, im just 2 hours away from bangkok by flight. Retiring with a plutonic friend sounds like a great plan actually, although as always, there is always pro and cons of having a roommate.
  4. Yes, its a rule of thumb of annual withdrawal to ensure your nesting eggs will not deplete before its time. But as pointed out above, it still depends on inflation, how much dividen your investment is making. And it is still inst foolproof as curveballs like covid, change of rules that impacted your access to your money, forex, or huge unexpected expenditures could derails your plan too. There are two clues that these two had curveballs in their lives. The first are probably why the had to sell their place. If they own it outright, only reason to sell is because their savings have been hit hard already. The second curveball is probably the new rules by thai gov on visa requirement. This one definitely hit hardest, enough for them to plan to return to their country. Pity they didnt decide early on to do this, during their first curveball. Regardless what really happen, i think we all can guess it has something to do with money. It can be they were a victim of scam, investment performed poorly, health expenditure that is not covered by their insurance, or etc. I recall in OP's first thread, he mentioned he observed some behaviorial issues as well such as not being frugal when they dont have as much money as before, and not using the money they got from friends for the purpose of getting back home. I do hope they at least will have enough food and taken care of in the detention center, though i dont have high hopes on thailand detention center and their jail system in entirety, i still think they will treat elderly relatively better. Hopefully their embassy will be helping them to get back home.
  5. I'd used ipad to make video calls making use of the bigger screen to see his father better.
  6. I believed AG is needed to check the legality of appropriating the fund for the vaccine purchases as obviously they didnt budget it for this vaccine, thus the fund need to be from somewhere else. Just my guess as i also read about similar AG involvement when the provincial gov want to buy their own vaccine using their own state fund.
  7. There is two piece of news here. One is the divemaster on the boat and another is the billionaire death in the swimming pool.
  8. I didnt see any report of alcohol ban, just bars and pubs not allowed to open. Anyway, my main reason to go to bangkok is not for the alcohol nor bar, but boys hehe.
  9. Whats clear to me now, at least for phuket case, its not for me. Perhaps those short term visitor (less than 14 days) wont like it either. Now if similar restriction to be applied to bangkok or pattaya, i might be ok lol.
  10. Shortening here doesnt mean to 3 weeks like pfizer or moderna, but more like below 12 weeks, as compared to the fixed 12 weeks as default. Plus it is merely a request and not a commitment, as the process of vaccine here are all automated in the apps, and we need to confirmed our availability once we received the appointment. So moreso this request is for priority access to the vaccine when it is available. Given the delay delivery news we just recieved today, as our next batch of vaccine shouldve come from thailand factory, i figured ill just submit a request and decide later when i do get my second dose date.
  11. Thats one way to get ahead, marry a thai! Lol. AZ gap is 12 weeks here in malaysia, but i just learned from the news that it is possible to request for shorter interval through email. Sent my request and hope theyll read the email lol. Although, AZ first dose gave a really good protection for those already at 76% efficacy, justifying the second dose to be delayed for potentially longer protection. So personally, if given the choice of a firm date AZ earlier, id choose this compared to a unconfirm date of other vaccine in the future. I actually did choose AZ here, but it was a simple choice as otherwise my queue is practically much later, and might get either pfizer (which i prefer) or sinovac (which i rather not, mainly due to current restriction on travel bases on vaccine type rather than the vaccine itself, as i dont mind sinovac if i can go travel to places i want). Your last point is valid too, waiting means u can also take the vaccine in germany, and once phuket sandbox expand to bangkok, its a no hassle for u too as its pretty much staying in bangkok for u. Although, would taking your second dose of AZ in germany a possibility too?
  12. Cant agree more. The homeless, the illegals, the prisoners, basically all who can be infected, and spread the virus needs to be vaccinated.
  13. Anyone knows why suddenly daily dose given today way lower than previous days?
  14. Other mode of transportation have done the capsule/bed options for quite sometimes, train and boat especially. Hopefully flight will consider somthing similar that would not cost a fortune like business class.
  15. I moved plenty of time due to my dad's work, so im not sure what do i call home or where i grew up lol. But i was born in KL, lived in neighboring state until 4/5, then moved to a southern state and stay there until high school, and moved to northern state and stay there until after high school before moving back to the first state, and work in KL, so yeah lol.
  16. Got my AZ first dose today as well. Now counting day to 21, when they say antibody should reach 76% efficacy. Incidently, its another round of full lockdown here anyway. Lol
  17. Haha, for my case, since im not going to travel to phuket in july anyway, i can wait. But i do look forward to the october opening of the other provinces.
  18. In a study one dose of AZ gives close to 76% efficacy. That and majority of those taking this vaccine will only get their second dose 12 weeks or longer.
  19. So what bank should we used?
  20. Very sensible rules, especially considering astrazeneca 1 dose, and natural immunity from recovered patient. Hopefully they will do away with the covid insurance as well and of course the lenghty procedures that STV required.
  21. Waiting on june 30th before i trust phuket will open july 1st.
  22. I feel the same way lol. Although i changed to fresh outfit for the night out, my wardrobe is pretty much of the same things. Office attire are really for the office only and even this havent ben used for more than a year now that ive been wfh.
