Very, very old Maurice. No never mastered Thai -- only enough to direct taxi drivers and tell waiters that I'm a veggie. Had MANY one to one and group lessons. BUT it gets worse! On my trip here through life I lived in a European country for ten years and never managed that language either. In that country they just laughed when I tried to speak BUT in Thailand they just laugh with my mistakes and I don't feel embarrassed at all. BUT I really did try languages. Many other things I never mastered also (brevity?).

What would you know about it? An infrequent visitor who seems to spend his time here on the internet looking for new titles to keep your name up there. I moved here in 1999 and am in no way miserable bitter or bored. Speak for yourself or even better --- don't speak.

Was/is Super A the one at the top of the rickety wrought iron stains and gaping hole? If so, the first time I went there, I went for a pee only to feel my shoes getting wet. The downpipe from the urinal was only about six inches long directing the water directly onto my feet. On subsequent visits, I saved my urinations till the next bar.

N.B. and G.C. combined years ago. Was it Covid time or before? Golden Cock was an early favourite (only such bar open in the afternoons). i knew some of the boys at nature boys and they, including two brothers, would join a group of Americans on Balcony's terrace before work. Not seen them recently and the American group has diminished somewhat these days. I think I read somewhere that NB/GC had closed some time ago: must wander along there sometime. Golden Cock premises is certainly a pancake house now.

When I first went there 27 years ago it was called SCREWBOYS, rumoured to have been meant to be named SCHOOLBOYS but the sign writer got it wrong. It spent a short time at the end of Twilight after which it returned to it's original location in Patpong 2 where you could hear rats running across the ceiling space.

He wasn't the worst customer at Solid. There was often a disgusting late middle aged ,'belt and braces' person wth trousers up to his nipples. The boys trembled when he entered in case he chose them for the night. His activities in bed were not pleasant and he refused to pay the boys until they cried. Away from the bar, he was a 'respected' person in a farang public position always talking homophobically (real word?). This is all 'allegedly' in case he is still arround. Hurting my brain now trying to remember the name of the nice manager/partner/mamasan who eventually ran the bar on his own. Eventually, Solid closed and he opened up a small open bar on the right at the end of Twilight.

This is Thailand. Surely they ask in Baht?
