Just look for what Americans call a 'mom and pop shop' --- almost certain to be open and selling alcohol. I once went to my local for a few beers but said to the lady "I'll hang on a moment, there a policeman on his motorbike outside." She replied "Don't worry, he also buys his beer here". OR send a motor bike taxi to buy for you.

I'm not a spirit drinker but it always amazed me that the Thais much prefer Johnny Walker Black rather than Red and then drown it with Coke or even Coke and Soda.

When they get individually served drinks, they have virtually no alcohol in them. Buy a bottle or bottled beers and tip them what the bar would have paid them (20 baht per drink?).

I once asked my Thai other half, "what does Christmas Day celebrate?" His response "Father Christmas's birthday". Close enough.

Christmas is a normal working day in Thailand so although there will be countless 'melly chlismas' decorations around, the only celebrations such as Christmas Dinners etc. will be in farang bars and international hotels. By New Year's Eve, the tourist areas will be crazily packed leading up to midnight on NYE. Thais will enjoy this and celebrate even though their New Year is not till April. These areas, Silom, Siam Square, Kao San Road etc. will get frighteningly packed. Beware pickpockets. Beware pickpockets! (yes, I said it twice). Impossible to get taxi at normal prices. (Skytrain and subway late closing (01 or 02?). Have fun. Certainly more than March or October😂🤣🙏.

Years ago, during the rainy season in Silom Soi 4 a bar tied tried a promotion. If it rained any time after 9 P.M., customers would be issued with lucky number tickets, then a lottery would be held for the winner. After a while, the police arrived and locked up the manager for the night for gambling! Rumours had it that they had been reported to the fuzz by a rival bar.

Previously on Silom soi 4 in the old Sphynx premises NOW occupied by Strangers Bar also previously down the soi 4.

Thanks Keith. I've now googled them. They seem to be like the others --- a portal for outside manufacturers and dealers. They claim that they have no control over morals of their suppliers. A bit worrying about Shopee and Lazada now (both Chinese).

Has anyone tried the new site similar to Lazada or Shoppee called Shoptemu? Some of their Prices seem ridiculously low suggesting fakes or scams.
