I disagree that you need to know much Portuguese if they don’t speak any English. I have hired trainers on session-package terms in Rio and São Paulo and had amazing workouts, just needed to give them a few translated sentences on the goals at the beginning of the contract. However, for social banter of course some fluency is needed.
