I'm terribly cynical about polls these days. I recall a conversation Amy Walter of Cook Political Report had on The Bulwark last year, how polling numbers aren't effectively picking up "movement on the margins." Sampling methodologies are failing to effectively predict. I also remember how the New York Times interviewed undecided voters that did not like Trump, yet leaned towards voting for Trump because he was willing to tell the truth 😮, or he was best for health care and best for education. 😮 In the end, Amy Walters recommended not getting too wrapped up in polls. My current cynical nature is a sense that Trump is unpopular, but his base still supports him, despite disliking certain specific policies. For my own reasons, I already mentioned on this board, I don't see a path forward to stop the MAGA cult. I don't claim to understand why the Dems are losers. Does anyone sense there is a think tank coming up with answers? And that the Dems are ready to listen? I think it is stupid and cruel to abandon Fed funding of HIV vaccine research and abandon epidemic containment in Africa. The Dems and corporate media are mostly quiet about it.

I have not watched that series. I have watched flight disaster documentaries on the Internet. I worked in a field that focuses on process characterization, probabilities and risk mitigation. I understand how sometimes 2 factors can interact to send a process over a cliff, resulting in failure. For example, the Concorde crash in Paris. I used to fly a particular route that experienced a crash. That was an eerie feeling, knowing I'd flown that particular route many times. But you're certainly correct, the probability of a crash is very small. I expect I will fly again.

Yes, it does seem like a disgusting joke. But others outside the US besides Israel are also complicit in the Trump insanity. Countries that allowed Trump to pay cash for golf resorts, allowed him to secure loans in their banks, and approved building Trump branded towers in their cities are all part of international conflicts of interest that invite corruption. The idea of handing Trump a Nobel peace prize might be one more distraction to keep the world from focusing on his theft. But, if Trump the felon and adjudicated rapist truly thinks the Nobel Prize will award him, I say Think Again!

Is it fair to lump under Trump Derangement Syndrome, those of you expecting Trump to check out soon? The Internet is blowing up over issues with Trump's hand, his ankles, his poor memory, failed diction, his leg not working, stair stumble, how tired he looks, how tired he sounds and so on. Many comments on chat boards, vlogs and Facebook keep asking rhetorically and perhaps hopefully "is 🍊 dead yet?" I try not to slip into that kind of baseless mental state some of you have already fallen, spawned by fake news of the Internet. Yet, maybe it's not really a derangement. Maybe it's a serenity now kind of thing, a meditation that this will all be over. If Satan comes for his boy sooner than later, so much the better.

I already mentioned in another thread my fear of flying. I used to fly a lot but grew more and more apprehensive over the years. Season 2 of The Rehearsal on HBO centered around avoiding commercial air accidents, which peaked my interest, especially due to my own fears. Quite a revolutionary idea for a TV show. And now how this Air India crash occurred so soon after the HBO production aired, underlines the idea of the TV show, what many are speculating about these pilots, their communication and their emotional state. So I mention this TV series in case some were not aware and may want to watch, as it relates indirectly to the topic of the thread. It is quite well done.
