  1. The cost of airfare to Thailand, for North Americans, puts visits out of reach for many - compared to other travel options.
  2. Donald Trump: 77,237,942 votes Kamala Harris: 74,946,837 votes Clearly, a win for Mr. Trump. Sweeping mandate? No. Not by any stretch of the imagination. 3.3 million fewer people cast votes in 2024 compared to the 2020 election. A nation divided.
  3. A slightly fem butch bottom?
  4. Yes, living someplace is very different than visiting that paradise ... as a tourist. Many expats have learned that lesson.
  5. An Iron Cross, yes, but Nazi tattoo? I've googled photos of him shirtless. Just the Iron Cross ... if my eyesight hasn't failed me. Overall, his tats do raise questions.
  6. The ripe age of 75. Not too ripe, though!
  7. Yes, the Garden Bar! Great memories.
  8. My first visit to BKK, a certified newbie, the first bar I walked into was Harry's, on Silom Soi 2. It was rightly touted as a gathering place for farang visitors (many business-types) and where one could get information / updates from other customers or bartenders on gay life / hook-ups in the area. No chorus line of boys to off that I remember, but a place to start. I'd learned of it from Dreaded Ned's. Are there others here that frequented the web forum at Dreaded Ned's? - the best and most current (at the time) BKK info (30+ years ago). I arrived as a shy first-timer. 😁 Didn't take me long to lose the shyness! There was a different bar upstairs or next door with twinks who were out for drinks and fun, not working per se (available), and no off fee was required. I took a few home that trip (some for $, some not); times were different. Gorgeous, though. DJ Station was across the Soi. Another bar in the same Soi with a sign painted on front "Beer. Bed. Boy. $5". Don't ask. I'm no longer shy. Cured.
  9. I send many holiday greeting texts, and some birthday greetings. I do this between 9 a.m. and Noon. I also receive similar greetings. 😁
  10. Commonplace in Mexico, people die after drinking fake / adulterated liquor provided to wedding receptions and other celebrations. I suspect it's a worldwide problem, such as we're seeing in Thailand.
  11. 200K COP = the equivalent of +/- US$45.
  12. An enough blame to go around in the Democratic Party when so many people voted for a man whose ideas and lack of character and integrity, they despise ... instead of another, the other candidate.
  13. He'd probably have been a better choice for the VA.
  14. "First They Came" by Pastor Martin Niemoller First they came for the Communists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Communist Then they came for the Socialists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Socialist Then they came for the trade unionists And I did not speak out Because I was not a trade unionist Then they came for the Jews And I did not speak out Because I was not a Jew Then they came for me And there was no one left To speak out for me
  15. Well known drag queen, Hulk Hogan, at MSG last night.
  16. It's not rocket science. Thailand will figure it out, as other countries have.
  17. I have the Samsung Galaxy 24+ and have been disappointed with the camera and quality of photos. I still travel with my Nikon D5600 but increasingly take photos with my cell.
  18. An excellent and transparent communication from the young man. For you? Food for thought going forward. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Four Bangkok hotels are amongst the 50 Best Hotels in the World, as surveyed by one organization. They are: (1) Capella (12) Mandarin Oriental (14) Four Seasons at Chao Phraya River (26) The Siam Source: https://www.cnbc.com/2024/09/18/these-are-the-50-best-hotels-in-the-world-for-2024.html
  20. Colonia Roma Norte in Mexico City, complaints of gentrification. Several buildings spray painted with the words: Gringos Go Home! When visiting, I haven't stayed in that colonia for probably 15 years. Overrun with English-speaking remote workers and English-speaking tourists: no need to speak Spanish.
