Lesson learned. Because the hotels I chose were more luxurious and for a far better rate.
or you can go for an Airbnb, especially in PP. There plenty of new towers in there to choose from, and some of them even offer daily housekeeping service, which resolves one of the weakest points of choosing an Airbnb imo (it feels so good to have new sheets and towels when you get back from lunch after having fun with a local twink).
Never had any questions asked about bringing visitors and I had guys come and go from my room even at 3-4 AM and sometimes more than one guy at the same time😃

Maybe some people on this site might better start stocking up on poppers. Personally, as a top, I never use and really don't like the smell but they do make a good gift for some of my regular guys in Thailand and Cambodia. Good to have them also while traveling in Japan and Korea cause as far as I know they don't sell them n there and some guys won't meet a foreigner without using poppers as they claim it's too painful🤪.

Wonder how strict they are going to enforce it, even though the one I usually stay at when in HCMC is both an hotel and apartment, so might escape the ban. If they are really serious in enforcing it , I'm sure it will keep some people away from visiting.

But this year I was there for Chinese New year and found it drab and dull. Such a disappointment. I am guessing that western businessmen are making fewer trips to the island.
Well, Lunar New Year is not really a great time to visit any city as a tourist in Greater China or even Vietnam as most of the places are closed and people like to hang out with family.

FLM is probably the most foreign friendly bar in HK. Usually that's where local guys take their foreign "date" to or go there to find one. There is an entrance fee after a certain hour. The bars around Causeway Bay are much more sticky rice. If one really wants to go though, I would suggest a place called Vibranium. It offers free cocktails on Wednesday from 9-11PM.

Even though has the priciest entrance fee in Asia (260HKD which makes it more expensive even to London or Paris) still remains one of the best even after so many years. The facilities are well-kept, pretty clean and the crowd, if you got on the right days and time, is pretty sexy. I have posted a few reviews about that place under this topic.

True, it continues to have a sizable and ardent presence of potato queens.

I know there are quite a few old-timers in here that have spent part of their life in HK so can give a better historical perspective. I'm younger and my first visit was only in 2014 ( quite the year the with the umbrella "revolution" going on) so maybe it's true that the city has changed for the worse, though I feel it's more the case of other Asian cities getting much better and now competing with HK in a lot of things that made HK unique in the 70s-80s and even 90s.
Personally I visit at least twice a year for usually a 4-5 days period each time. Between restaurants (it still has an amazing culinary scene and not just for Cantonese cuisine), hiking, M+ exhibitions, cocktail bar with friends, Hutong and guys from apps, it always ends up being a great time.

Colombia will give them a run for their money as will many Rio de Janeiro hotels..... Cuba would too, but not worth the bother of going there presently.
Well, considering the safety level on the first two places you mentioned, it's almost understandable they have to do that.
In Vietnam on the hand, it's just outdated bureaucratic manners. Luckily Airbnb exists, so I can enjoy the company of Viet guys at any given hour without having to worry about the judgement of a front desk.

Thanks @floridarob Sounds more like what I experienced in the Philippines where it depended on the hotel and sometimes even on the time of the day. I think Vietnam is still the strictest when it comes to hotel guests.

As of 2 weeks ago Grab is working on Bali well. Yes, you can order Grab from Airport, for it you should reach Grab's booth, because only there is parking lot where driver may pick up you without problems. You can reach any location by Grab, but you can't order Grab from some locations where local community forbidding Grab to pick up passengers.
If you haven't Grab app on your phone you may book taxi with help of Grab's staff, if you have app then just book your car and wait on the sofa there - parking lot is in 20 meters from that place.
Thanks @Moses Was the wait at the airport for the car to arrive long ? Looks like Grab has moved into this meeting-point model in all the airports it operates. The one at BKK though it's so poorly run and the wait is quite long. Luckily I learnt my lesson and now only order Bolt and take the car on the 4th floor when I land ion there. It has been pretty and fast though in other places like Cambodia and Vietnam.

Planning to return to Bali after almost 10 years and have a few practical questions that hopefully some people here can help me with:
- Is Grab or any other ridesharing app easily available in Bali? Remember reading 1-2 years ago about taxi drivers protesting the presence of Grab in there. Can you order a Grab straight from the airport?
- I remember guys had no problems going straight to my room but all of them had to register at reception. Some asked for my first and last name and what surprised me at that time, a few of them knew my name and nationality even though I had given them only my room number, so I guess they were provided to them by reception when they registered. Do you think is better to pick up guys straight from the lobby as I don't want to give them my credentials? Do they have to register if you are with them?
- Are there any proper gay saunas in Bali? I've heard of Elegantz in here but that sounds more like a massage place to me (plus someone mentioned that it got busted by police a few months ago)
-
Talking about drugs, I recommend these mid-length Taiwanese film about drug use in Taipei's gay community (a city that from what I have heard the drug use in its gay community has epidemic proportions) The actors are really sexy.
Personally, I never done any drugs, including weed even though it's legal where I reside. I have been though to several group actions in different parts of Asia, Europe and N. America where people were consuming hard drugs, mostly the ones mentioned by @simcity in his post.
To be honest, the quality of sex has always been pretty mediocre in those kind of situations. The guys just can't concentrate and seem more preoccupied with their drug or going through their phone that what you actually doing with them and then there is always that smell of strong chemicals in the air that hits you as soon as you enter the place where people are consuming it.
My strategy is usually just looking for the guy I like the most, try to finish quickly with him and then pretty much just leave. It's very difficult holding a rational conversation with a bunch of people in that state.

I had no experiences in the saunas as I did not hang around as I could not see anything. Too dangerous for me as I am myopic. Lots of twinks at A and P sauna. Busy around 9pm on a Saturday when I was there.
how many guys do you think where at A and P at around 9pm? sorry if I'm insisting too much.

My friend was staying at Arthur and Paul hotel. I visited on a Saturday night to go to the spa and it started to get busy after 9pm. $10 entry fee. The bar area is spacious and lovely and the pool area is a good place to relax, swim and talk to other guys. There seemed to be a lot of younger Cambodian guys in attendance. Again, the issue for me was the lack of light and the spa area and showers were too dark for me to walk around safely. Guys are friendly around the bar, pool area and changing room and this is a great place to link up with cute Cambodian guys. My friend, who was staying at the hotel enquired about the darkness level and one of the Cambodian guys stated that Cambodian guys are quite shy and don’t want to be seen having sex in a spa! As an addendum, my friend loved staying at A and P and raved about the breakfast, staff and massages which he deemed to be excellent ($20 for an hour plus tip). The staff here are good looking guys who will look after you if you decide to stay at the hotel.
Can you please elaborate more about your experience about saunas in PP? Like how many people at peak hour in A&R? Are there cabins you can play in or most of the action happens in the open and that's why it needs to be dark? I just returned this past November in PP after a 15 years time distance from my first visit. Found a city with many more towers (don't remember any last time) and much more Chinese presence.
Luckily with also many more apps to use. First for transportation, mostly tukTuk on Grab as I could pay with my CC (not sure if PassApp is cash only) and second for boys through Grindr/hornet. In the 5 days that I was there averaged around 2 per day, though had 4 guys one of the days. However, I didn't get to go to any sauna, as I was there during weekdays so thought might not be worth going. Heading again for another 5 days at the end of this month and I definitely wanna try them this time.
Which one of those two you recommend for a guy that likes young twinks?

So, sorry to belabor the point, but then what is the NY Eve party? Was the video taken on the 30th or 31st?
it's a multi-nights event (I think 4-5). Each night there is a different theme and the night before the last, is called the white night as you are expected to wear all white. It kinda gives the name to the whole event, that's why it's also called the main event. The conclusive night is always on NYE with a cool countdown. The scenes from that video are a mix from all the nights. I went to only one night and saw some of them, but other scenes definitely happened some other night. So, it's not strictly the countdown.

Why wouldn't the main one be the NY Eve one?
I don't know. Maybe they feel people would be tired on the last day but the main event (actually called white party) is always the night before NYE.

Same as last year. Just the main one.

The NY Eve Party is sold out. But I would have gone had it been available. Looks spectacular.
I only went to the main party (the one you have to wear white) which is usually the day before NYE. My friends that went on that night said the the only good moment was the countdown and after that it got quite boring and most people start leaving including them.

But in that big crowd, I might be the oldest one. Do you think anyone would care?
Was there last year. Not sure about your age and body type but I saw quite a few guys that were definitely in their 60s. I think if you are into it, go ahead and try it. The tickets might be already sol out though I know they have a lst sales phase at the beginning of December. That's how I bought last year. This year I got mine right away.

Thanks. I did take a look there, but I was hoping someone had been to some of those places recently and could report back.
But I guess not.
As I have said in some other posts under this category HK has actually a good number of gay saunas but the biggest and the most gay-friendly of them remains Hutong. They don't do any filtering anymore at the entrance like around 5-10 years ago, so everyone is accepted. I've seen white daddies every time I go, though not sure about their success rate. (I'm in my mid 30s and slim). The facilities are still great. The best days to go are Monday (young people get a big discount), Friday and Saturday. Pretty empty on Sundays, though my HK friend said that it start offering a discount now to attract more people on that day. Peak hours are 6-9PM as most customers are actually Shenzhen guys who have to catch the subway to head back home as getting a room in HK is quite pricey for them.
It also get very busy during the two weeks in May and October where the mainland has holidays. I witnessed it myself this year. Went there on May 1st and by 4:30pm all the lockers were taken and guys coming in had to put their stuff in a plastic bag. There were around 200-250 guys at any given moment in there. I had a real blast. Started getting serviced by this cute twink from Shenzhen even while I was still taking a shower. Went to the cabin with him and after being done as I go out of the cabin, this other twink grabs my hand, takes me back in there , closes the door and starts going down, so I have to restart right away. After staying around 3.5 hours and having played with at least 8 guys went back to my hotel happy but totally exhausted. Lots of guys also like to play with their cabin doors opened, so you get to see a show even if you get no action.
Judging by when you posted your question, you certainly already been to HK. Let us know if you got the chance to go to any place.

Just got back to home (Australia) after my first time to Taiwan for Taipei pride.
It's definitely one of the top three events in Asia that attracts the most gays, the other being Songran and NYE/white party in Bangkok. It was my 6th time and I enjoyed like it was the first. Posting some pics from the event below. As always all the gay venues were full and you had guys visiting from all over. I enjoyed Soi13 and also got the chance to get invited at a hot homepa this year.

Having spent the last 5 weeks between Taipei and Bangkok I would say that the amount of hot guys you see in the street is probably higher in Taipei than in BKK. Feel like I will end up with permanent neck injuries if I spent more time in here by all the head twisting I'm doing while walking.

Not sure if it has been mentioned in here, but among the events of BKK saunas I would also include the naked rooftop party which ends up being one big orgy at Chakran on Friday nights. I think it starts at 8PM. The crowd tends to be smaller than in some other saunas (I would say around 40-50 guys) but the quality is really high. Mostly twinks and in-shape cute young guys.
Personally it's a bit difficult to choose on Saturdays between R3 or Krubb. R3 has more performers though you usually have the same ones the next day at Mania. Krubb has actually a more mixed crowd while R3 especially on O-party nights tend to be 80-85 percent Chinese. If you are in shape or if you're a top and quite endowed down there you will have fun at whatever sauna you choose. Haven't tried any onsen yet in Bkk though quite a few Thai friends have recommended them to me. Considering Thai weather though, I would go there mostly during December-February.

From CNN
Kudos to you if you can speak perfect Japanese and order food at a neighborhood sushi bar in Tokyo.
If you can, chances are that on your next trip to Japan, you may be able to score a better deal by blending in as a local.
Japan has never been a destination known for hiking up prices for foreigners. But overtourism – fueled by a combination of pent-up post-Covid demands (aka “revenge travel”) and the weak local currency – has recently prompted restaurants in the country to consider the merits of differential pricing.
“People say it’s discrimination, but it is really hard for us to serve foreigners, and it is beyond our capacity,” said Shogo Yonemitsu, who runs Tamatebako, an all-you-can-eat seafood grill in Shibuya, Tokyo’s bustling shopping district.
He maintains that he doesn’t charge tourists extra. Instead, he offers a 1,000 yen ($6.50) discount to locals.
“We need (this pricing system) for cost reasons,” Yonemitsu said.
Well considering that most of the high-ending or popular restaurants in Japan don't use an online booking service but you have to go through some agencies like: tableall, etc which charge between 1000-8000 Yen, foreigners are already paying more than locals even if restaurants charge the same.

Hi there,
I’m visiting South Korea in late August/early September. A few tips and information on the following from those with good insights:
Firstly, I’ll be visiting Seoul, Jeonju, Busan and Gyeongju.
- What are the best apps to meets guys there? Grindr? Scruff? Etc
- Best gay bars that welcome foreigners (Australian here)
- Are there any gogo bars?
- Best saunas and/or cruise clubs/bars that welcome foreigners that are also visited by local Korean guys.
- Best massage shops with extras.
Any other tips or information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
I would just say that gay saunas in SK are no that good, even though Korea is known for its sauna culture (a bit similar in this to Scandinavian countries) The sauans tend to be quite small and the best ones have usually a Korean-only policy (though they do make exceptions). On the bright side, there is a lot of group happening in there.
On 7/30/2024 at 4:48 AM, Screamaloud said:- What are the best apps to meets guys there? Grindr? Scruff? Etc
Usually guys on Grindr are the ones looking for foreigners. How much lucky you will be depends a lot on your body type.
Koreans are bit obsessed with height. So tall guy (meaning 190cm and up) have definitely very high chance of success.
Fit or muscular guys also get extra points. Being overweight is really looked down.
Personally, having visited SK a few times in the last 15 years from when I was in college to now being in my mid-30s, being just 175cm though very slim and with a bit of a baby face, I'm always surprised of the amount of activity I get there.
Worth of note is how good of a place ICN airport is as a hookup spot. As the main hall is on the upper floor and you access the gates by going one floor down and 2-3 gates will have their own bathroom, usually after 8PM lots of them are empty so is a good place for some action. I got lucky the last two times I transited through there, so even if you aren't going into the city, keep your apps open if you're in the airport.

in Gay Thailand

600baht on a normal weekend night is a pretty steep price. I think it will make it the most expensive in Bangkok (even more expensive than Keybox in Singapore). Mania charges that only during Songran and White Party nights. If it doesn't offer a lower price to locals, like most saunas in Bangkok do, it will almost exclusively be populated with tourists and judging from their name and poster they are going for the Chinese crowd, which is not an easy one to win over. Good facilities by itself won't cut it.
It has to at least throw nightly events combined with a good pool of sexy performers that interact with the crowd like Mania, R3, Chakran and Krubb do. Will be curious to see the length of the crowd in Mania this Songran compared with the massive one last year.
